Philippines to host two international women’s football tournamentsKarl Decena, InterAKTV · Tuesday, July 3, 2012 · 10:53 pm The Philippine Football Federation has secured the hosting of two international women’s football competitions later this year. The Rizal Memorial Football Stadium in Manila will be the venue for the qualifiers of the Under-16 and Under-19 Asian Football Confederation Women’s Championship in 2013, with the Philippine national women’s football team participating in both tournaments. In the U-19 qualifiers slated on Oct. 17 to Oct. 21, the Malditas are grouped with Chinese Taipei, Myanmar and Hongkong. In the U-16 qualifiers, Filipinos will be battling Australia, Thailand and Myanmar on Nov. 7 to Nov. 11. The Philippines also hosted both of the tournaments in 2010 at the University of Makati Stadium, failing to get past the group stages. =================================== www.philstar.com/sportsarticle.aspx?articleid=825640&publicationsubcategoryid=69 PFF set to host 2 more international meets By Olmin Leyba (The Philippine Star) Updated July 09, 2012 12:00 AM MANILA, Philippines - Aside from the four-nation Long Teng Cup in Bacolod, the Philippine Football Federation will also stage two other international competitions in the country, this time involving the women’s under-16 and under-19 teams. “We’ll be hosting two qualifiers for the ladies, one for the AFC U-16 Women’s Championship and another for the AFC U-19 Women’s Championship, separately in October and November,” PFF president Nonong Araneta said yesterday. The University of Makati (Umak) field and the Rizal Memorial Football Stadium, he said, will be the site for the two meets. “We’ll also fix Umak. Since we’ll be converting the Rizal into an artificial pitch, the grass that will be taken off Rizal will be transplanted to the Umak,” he said. Hosting the U-16 and U-19 qualifiers won’t require much financially as, Araneta explained, the participating nations will virtually shoulder their trips themselves. Three foreign teams are expected in each of the qualifying meets. Australia, Thailand and Myanmar will slug it with out the host Phl in Group C of the U-16 qualifiers. The four will play a round-robin format tourney with the group winner and runner-up booking tickets to the AFC U-16 women’s championship 2013 final. On the other hand, Chinese Taipei, Myanmar and Hong Kong will join the hometown bet Pinays for Group C action in the U-19 Round 1 qualifiers. They will figure in a league system meet with the group winner and runner-up advancing to Round 2 of the qualifiers along with Thailand and Vietnam. “We also want to develop ladies football, not just the men’s team or the Azkals,” said Araneta. The Azkals will play at home in a planned competition with Chinese Taipei, Macau and Hong Kong on Oct. 12-16 at Panaad Stadium in Bacolod. “To date, Hong Kong has yet to confirm their participation in the Long Teng but we’re doing our best to convince them,” said Araneta. The P6-million Bacolod tourney is being eyed as a final tuneup for the Azkals before they head to the AFF Suzuki Cup in late November.

A match that was easily dominated by our girls.. Hong Kong is playing like there is nothing to lose. I always predicting it right when HK GK is doing a goal kick or long kick either it always go straight unto our girls or they most of the time win the ball. I saw HK warming up and doing their drills.. First they do a sprint, i thought they holding their pace, but on the match they are too slow compare to the U19-Malditas, I notice that HK's drills are more unto short play, but the Malditas forced them to park the bus.. The HK striker ain't so reliable on counter-attack, she usually got stripped by our defenders or gave up possesion.. Total Domination for our girls.. The 1st goal was a cracker from 30yards out, made the whole stands goes wild.. Most of the fans are relatives and from La Salle.. Whole Myanmar NT watching at the stands in the 1st half, also 2 Taiwanese player #9, #23 who happens to be at my front(should'd talked to them :<), only allowed by their coach to film the 1st half.. It seems they easily read how our NT plays.. From what i saw, at the 1st half, they love to do long balls.. Gave it to the RB and then make a cross and ATK at the middle hope to caught them off-guard which works due to HK's abysmal defending. Eventually at the 1st half, RB got substituted which disappoint me cause she was doing okay for me, her diagonal balls are finding its target. Another 1st half substitution is #9 Alex Camcam from Kaya FC elite, I dunno what's about that sub, maybe she's carrying an injury? She didn't have much time on the pitch.. She's kinda big compare to HK.. She's like Andy Carroll there. 2nd half. The girls are pushing at the third, exploiting the left side of the pitch, which is effective, left flanker #17 loves moving the ball into channel and eventually making space on our middle man to make a GO.. Not quite remember how was the goals was stroke cause I was being bothered by my friend and couldn't concentrate watching, right about the time when the 2 Taiwanese has gone back at their hotel.. XD Sadly, I didn't made it out and watched the Myanmar vs CT, good thing i didn't asked them the result xD Seems like Myanmar NT is a strong team.. Let see how our girls will continue their run!

What home advantage? Only 4 people are chanting out there, the most vocal in the stand is Lola Futbol and a Senior couple.. the rest is "the typical on attack" cheer.. Myanmar that were excluded in the squad is much louder on chanting.
A frustrating and sad loss for the girls.. Myanmar are quick and works hard in the pitch.. Also Myanmar womens team either they are tomboy or a boy cause at first glance, they are really looks like a boy haha someone even taunted "somebody give that Myanmar a low-blow!" just to have an answer for their questionable gender hehe.. What I can say about this match is they really outclassed us. So sad, before the match I had a thought that we have potential to beat this team, but our girls let me down..
Myanmar drills are more into Long Ball Counter-Attack.. I saw how they jog, their feet moves quickly as everyone expected, they're fast! Also they are practicing long passes and most of the players has good first touch.. Philippines drills are no different than the last time.. More unto winning the ball.. Monkey in the middle, Heading,..
1st half was dominated by the girls, they are attacking pretty well but like the last time they couldn't find a final ball, perhaps the Myanmar are holding back and reads how our girls move the ball.. We are doing well until that bad tackle near in the left edge of the penalty box. The ball was struck right footed and it curls at the top left corner, Captain Inna, didn't have a chance.. Indeed it was an excellent free-kick. Then they continue their attack but didn't contested the MYA GK that much.
2nd Half.. Now Myanmar mean business, they pushed-up a bit, formation was shifted from 4-5-1 to 4-2-3-1.. This is how our Girls got beaten, Defense usually closing down MYA strikers which were outpacing them. They tend to commit too much while marking a winger.. Their offside trap isn't working. Always losing the ball in the midfield either in attack or defense, very crucial IMO we could have hold them off if only they stop the feed from midfield, the long passes are connecting pretty well cause the MYA Striker always losing the defenders outpacing them. I can say that they are not working enough to win the ball, i'm not saying that they are not determine to win. They tend not to get tuck-in in midfield and rather do it on our defense, which is bad cause MYA Forwards are technical and has good passing ability, I can also say that they have a very high passing completed on our third.. It just me that whenever a forward is very fast and skillful I rather not close down this player, instead give much space for yourself that you know you can out pace that forward, never double team this kind of striker, CBs should give a role of a stopper + cover just my opinion. Our Girls defensive line is a narrow flat-4. That's why through balls are effective as hell. The final scoreline could have been worst maybe 6 or 7 to nil.. I don't want to say that was a good fight.. Cause I had a feeling that our girls lack something, Aggression perhaps? Myanmar for me is a beatable team w/ a right tactics. Even if we lack the quality in attack, we could had beaten them on set pieces, cause we are much more dominant in physicality.
IF you're free on Sunday watch them play against Taipei, just for honor of finishing 2nd cause it looks like Myanmar will butch HK. Taipei is a good team and can move the ball on a quick tempo, hope our girls can cope w/ it.. Taiwan's engine on midfield is #13 dictating the midfield, they have #10 playing simple football in the third, #15 seems lethal on striking!
Ultras Filipinas will pack the stadium to give support for the girls! Come and chant w/ us! Don't be afraid it'll be fun! ^_^
