Let me guess, siguro iniisip nila na baka mabawasan ang medals natin kapag natalo ang football teams natin?

Hello! Been a while since my last post. Napabalik ako sa forum because of the SEAG news. I've been excited about this but PSC' decision is a kill joy. Is there a way to relay our sentiments to PSC decision? Can we sign a petition and submit this to PSC for reconsideration? We can make that petition viral online. I'm sure many will sign it.

If there ever was a moment when football fans should stand together and turn push to shove, it's now. If there's a moment when the administrators of the site should really lean on an issue, it's now.
What are the implications if the PFF decides to defy the POC and PSC as Mike Limpag is suggesting? If we can defy the POC and the PSC... LET'S DO IT!
Nothing will unite football fans more than fighting against an injustice.

Well guys, I'm afraid the problems with the PSC go deeper than the SEAG. I have a very good friend who posts here regularly and who works for the Department of Foreign Affairs. He has been handling relations with several South American countries over the last few years. As a fanatic football fan, he has been working through the other countries officially, to approach various youth academies and other organizations in these countries to create opportunities for these South American powerhouses to help our development here in the Philippines. He has been very successful in attracting the interest of these organizations to work with people and organizations here in the Philippines, and has presented these opportunities to the PSC and even helped to arrange meetings between the PSC and the other South American organizations. According to my friend, the PSC has not pursued any of these opportunities. In fact, it seems they have not even bothered to publicize these opportunities with any other organizations that might find these useful. The full details of these stories can be considered jaw dropping in the seemingly lack of initiative by the PSC. I really don't understand why the PSC is not more active in promoting Football here, and taking opportunities and promoting them here as they become available.

It may not have the results we wanted but at least they know and they are aware. I've been trying to bite my lips because I had a few choice words for Peping et al when I read this news. I hate to wish ill will to anyone but Peping and his cohorts makes it so difficult. Garapalan na talaga. The sad thing is, he is KKK kaya medyo people are careful in dealing with this issue.

it's because most of the PSC officials are not into football or let's just say they give no care about this sport. i am in full support of Yeng Guiao's proposal of pursuing the Department of Sports because i think this is more appropriate than this one-sided, corrupt PSC/POC we have right now

After reading the news about POC/PSC's decision, especially Peping's comments, it really made me infuriated. To me, it really is a classic case of politics and in any organization be it sports, education, etc, there will always be politics. What's sad lang talaga is that right now there is a great opportunity for football. Its on a steady rise but there are people trying to prevent the sport from progressing. My assumption really is that it is about money and recognition. First and foremost, they are not interested in the sport. They have other sports that they are rooting for and they want to earn money and recognition for these sports and for themselves. If football continues to do well, money will not really go to them. Most of all, they cannot get recognition. PFF will mostly get the recognition not POC/PSC. Kailangan rin nilang magpakitang gilas and for them, they think this is the best way. Its frustrating to see this happening, especially hearing from Peping Cojuanco who himself has a daughter that previously competes in sports.
One way that we can help, I think, is to voice out our opinions and thoughts, writing to journalists and writing to senators. Sino-sino bang Senators mahilig sa sports and may will to intervene?

POC not closing door on football team's SEAG participation, says PepingBy Reuben Terrado July 04, 2013, 03:12 pm PHILIPPINE Olympic Committee president Jose ‘Peping’ Cojuangco has clarified that they are not shutting the door on the possible participation of a football team in the Southeast Asian Games in Myanmar. Cojuangco said that the POC is still waiting for the Philippine Football Federation to build its case and prove that the men’s and women's team could contend for a gold medal in the Myanmar Games. “The team must prove that they are a quality team,” said Cojuangco in Thursday’s POC weekly radio program on DZSR Sports Radio 918. “I want to see who their opponents are and their caliber and they must prove to us that they have a chance to win.” Philippine football officials led by Azkals team manager Dan Palami have called on the POC and the Philippine Sports Commission to reconsider the Under-23 team as well as the women’s team for inclusion in the national contingent to the Myanmar Games. The Task Force had earlier excluded the football teams in their initial entry by number list to be submitted to Myanmar organizers on July 10 based on the criteria set by the POC that only sure and potential gold winners will be sent to the biennial meet. Despite the men’s team missing the semifinal round and the women’s squad called the Malditas not able to play in the 2011 edition in Indonesia, football officials believe both teams can compete against the best in the region. Cojuangco said they haven’t received an official appeal from the PFF and reiterated that the football teams have not been excluded. “I don’t know what they are appealing (about). Maliwanag ‘yung sinabi natin na we are not excluding anybody who can prove that they can win,” said Cojuangco. “I heard that the Malditas are good but if they are not sure of playing well, they are killing themselves right from the beginning. Kasi kapag nangamote sila sa SEA Games, baka lalong bumaba ang sport nila,” said Cojuangco. Football officials said that they will do whatever it takes to compete in the SEA Games, adding they are willing to shoulder the expenses for the teams' participation through the help of private sponsors. However, Cojuangco insisted that they won’t change their SEA Games criteria in order to accommodate a team or an athlete. The POC chief also ruled out adopting a ‘have-money-will-travel’ policy. “That’s one of the things we discussed in the executive board together with the PSC. We will carry that one out. Mahirap na mabago pa tapos sisihan na naman. Kung ano ‘yung desisyon, let’s stand by it already,” Cojuangco said. “Ayoko na nung ‘have-money-will-travel.’ Nabubugbog kami masyado. Okay lang dati ‘yun pero in the end, kung banatan tayo sa mga dyaryo pagkatapos mag-compete, ang may kasalanan POC at PSC eh,” he added. www.spin.ph/sports/psc-poc/news/poc-president-jose-peping-cojuangco-on-football-appeal-for-sea-games

This is frustrating actually. After all that is said and done, I wonder if President Aquino (whose office sanctions the PSC) will ever call for an ouster towards his own uncle given the sorry nature of athletes competing in such regional competition. To think his daughter Mikee had been a very competitive equestrienne and had medals for herself, including at the 2002 Asian Games. But what if Mikee won't be able to receive a medal in a previous edition of the Games, and following the PSC/POC's current logic, would Peping even stop his own daughter to compete? This is clearly an action of a has-been who thinks he is still knowledgeable about sports in general (with the exception of making money), much less someone who is genuinely concerned about our nation's athletes, and I quote, "Mahirap na mabago pa tapos sisihan na naman." About the senators, I could only point to one on the current line-up, Antonio Trillanes. Along with Cong. Yeng Guiao, he is also pushing for creating a Department of Sports. It's so sad Miguel Zubiri didn't make it in the previous elections considering he has been active in promoting sports development in the country. He was the one who appealed for support of the Azkals when they were denied a home game at the 2010 Suzuki Cup.

Pia Cayetano I don't really trust Pia Cayetano, she went on Cristy Ramos's side during the Guirado-Moy "sexual harassment" scandal, although she is a good advocate on sports. She led the fundraising for training kids for triathlon events and opposing the recent UAAP residency ruling.

It's a pity that Philippines may not be sending both the man and woman football teams for the SEA Games, I hope POC may have a change of heart to allow them to participate.
The U-23 age level is the most crucial level cos this is the final stage of grass root development where the juniors has to prove that they are good enough before they are promoted/selected to the national level and therefore they need to be given the opportunity and the best way to prove and show their talent is on international games and the coming Sea games is the best stage for them. In my country these U-123 players also has to prove if they are good enough to play for clubs in our M-Super league besides the national level and the Sea Games give them the opportunity
I'm not down grading domestic games, but to be good enough to play on international stage, they need to be expose to show their stuffs up against other U-23 national teams and it is by participating in international games that one get a better and more accurate analysis on the progress grass root program has work effective so far and what is still lacking and need to be rectify and work on.
We heard so much of the Azkals, Malditas and the azkals and malditas juniors making good progress in this beautiful game and for a country where basketball and boxing is most followed sport and football has been taking the back seat for almost a decade it is therefore impressive to note that Philippines football is now making good progress both domestic and on international level.
I hope that your POC may have a change of heart to reconsider allowing both man and woman football and futsal team to participate in the coming SEA Games
Thank you

keep your cool guys “Eh kung biglang na-murder?” said POC president Jose ‘Peping’ Cojuangco yesterday, hinting of the strong possibility of it being overpowered by the regional powerhouses, countries that regularly maintain a solid under-23 team specifically meant for the SEAG wars.
Cojuangco said he doesn’t like to see football suffering the same fate of the much-ballyhooed Philippine Volcanoes rugby team, which got massacred in their campaign abroad.
“I wonder who’s going to get inspired,” said Cojuangco, sounding off that while he recognizes football’s rise, he doesn’t want the public to end up broken-hearted.
Cojuangco said the PFF has to convince the SEAG Task Force that it can bring home the gold medal by detailing its chances against their rivals while brushing off the idea that this year’s SEAG will be an opportunity to gain experience.
“Kung pupunta tayo para lamang mag-practice, malaking kalokohan yan.”
“Football is not yet out. But they have to prove they have a chance of winning the gold.
full read at mb.com.ph/Sports/Football/22883/POC_keeps_door_open_on_PFF%E2%80%99s_SEA_Games_bidwow they came out again, this time with another reason. hinting that they're afraid that our team may get massacred by other teams? and they also want our team to prove that they have a chance of winning a gold? c'mon man! we're not here to play games with you POC
