Have you heard the interview of Chino Trinidad on Chieffy Caligdong?
It says something like this:
Chieffy: "kahit ako lang sa first eleven ang tunay na Pilipino....o may dugong Pinoy"....

he just want to imply that his teammates(euro based players) are not truly pinoy.its so frustrating having a team captain giving such statement.

dan palami should give players a warning on things they say thru media. i understand that hes only stating his opinion but bringing up the whole "who is filipino and who is not" is detrimental to the team. hes just gonna alienate himself away from the team if he continues to imply he's more filipino than the rest. the PFF should suspend him one game or something to give him a lesson. i know hes frustrated that he lost his starting spot but he should step up his game if he wants it back.

Suspending him or any other sanction would only fan the flames further on pure Filipino vs half Filipino issue. He should be reprimanded privately or given disciplinary action internal only to the team.
It is so irresponsible of him to say those things. This issue will not die down if he keeps bringing it up every time they have a tournament. In doing so He's not doing himself any favors either. If interest in PH football wanes, sino ba ang magiging kawawa? Euro based players? Of course not, they have careers to go back to in Europe. Magiging kawawa mga local based players like him. Pano na sila if, god forbid, the UFL discontinues?
He has to realize that statements like this turns off the casual viewers and new fans. It may be possible he is just not aware of these implications so he, along with all the other players, need to be briefed strictly of what to say and not to say to the media. If he said those things, on the other hand, out of bitterness because he is not being given playing time out of some selfish personal agenda then that is just a shame as a person, player and much more as captain of the team.

There's no room for racism in the beautiful game. In Europe, they penalize heavily those who make racist remarks and the same should be done here. I'm so disappointed to hear such things from an Azkal himself. Starting slots and team membership should be earned and based on merits alone and not on other petty issues. Remember that all Azkals passed FIFA eligibility criteria, otherwise our games would have been forfeited. Therefore, the issue of being half-Filipino,half-foreigner should not be an issue anymore. All our half-Pinoy Azkals are not having these problems in their other countries so we should do the same here. Mind you other countries are naturalizing players just to improve their teams while our players are Filipinos by 'jus sanguine' principle.

I can't believe he's saying this! I thought he was going along with halfies long time ago! Neil Etheridge didn't play (even not in the 23-man list!) and he gracefully accepted and respected the coach's decision. While Caligdong, didn't play but he was in subs list, what's on his head, anyway?! He should be thankful that we beat the Turkmen then, all of a sudden, he rants at the team on GMA news? (not ABS-CBN or TV5) no offense to him, if he does this again next time, I think he'll get the boot from the team! but he can play in the UFL.

I think this is just an attempt by the media to create issues. The team as a whole is aware of that. While Chieffy should be more careful, his viewpoint is not of the "we're pureblooded so we're superior" but of the "we're just as good as them" mentality- which some might consider racist- but certainly not racial supremacist.

With Aly out, there is only one TRUE captain in the AZKALS -- it's Rob Gier!
There you go Chieffy, right back at you!

If Chieffy is airing out frustrations through those kind of statements, he should instead do it in a more constructive manner. Instead of pointing out that he's the only "pure" Pinoy, he should acknowledge the quality of the foreign based Azkals who happen to be his team mates in the national team and then strongly urge the football authorities in the Philippines both national and local to work hard to put in place measures and infrastructure that will allow local youths and players achieve that level of skill and quality. Instead of lashing out at the current situation which is dictated by reality and practicality, he should redirect his efforts and use his stature to prod football officials to start laying the ground for future players. Shift the focus on the football hierarchy in the Philippines so they will be pressured to establish lasting reforms and strengthen the grassroots and youth programs of the sport.

May bitter hangup pa rin yung iba dito? This guy should be sent to the doghouse and taught basic Phil. citizenship laws and history. Someone should tell him there is no such thing as "pure Filipino" genetically & biologically-speaking. Generations of genetic inter-mingling & migration has ensured that all Filipinos are mixed-blood. He should just suck it up and do better next time to win his spot in the starting XI. He should also be reminded that Cambodia's 0-8 loss was the same experience our team got against other SEAsian teams just a few years ago. So gusto niya ba bumalik sa ganung mga results?
