It is obvious that Weiss is experimenting again here,, with Patrick in front beside Misagh.. Although the boy played in his youth till 13 years old as a striker, he has long time not been playing this position in his Amateur and profi years..and his best as a winger..

Great save by Neil earlier.
We've been busy knocking at the door since the start of this second half.

What a performance by our boys!! Yes Bahadoran did well, Reichelt and James also done a good job. But Schrocky was just brilliant you know.. Pure brilliance in that field! Chris Greatwich's goal was heart stopping! Such a good night!

OK, a great win over the Pakistani team to win the cup. But after all the celebrations, what can we learn from this tourney?
1) Shrock really is a heart of this team. He lifts the whole team, and he makes an impact wherever he plays. 2) Reichelt really played well today, with some good play from Misagh as well. 3) Experimentation can go bad (see the Taiwan game). But sometimes a discovery is made. IMHO the experimentation worked well tonight. 4) It was good for Weiss NOT to go defensive once we went one goal up. We have wound up with ties or worse too many times when we went defensive. Kudos to Coach for not going defensive. 5) Etheridge is big - really big - and always seems to come up with excellence for us. He came out to challenge the Paki forward early in the second half, and managed to get a piece of the try with his left arm, getting enough of the ball to deflect it away. If that ball goes in, it is a completely different game. For overall performance throughout the two games, Etheridge gets my man of the tourney MVP - closely followed by Schrock. 6) Our defense needs work - a lot of it. I admire Weiss for trying to give Barbaso some experience, and to be sure he has potential. But unfortunately, he just isn't there yet. He needs at least another year against tough competition in the UFL before he grows the maturity and vision to go along with his obvious physical and footballing skills. 7) De Murga, even though he is getting a bit slow, is sorely missed when out of the team. His vision and experience more than make up for his lack of speed. Looking forward to the next few years, if the team is going to advance, we need to find some solid answers for our defense.
We need to look at this tournament with a sober eye. Sure we kept the trophy. But, these were both teams ranked 170+ to our 140+. We should have won convincingly over both teams. Loss to Taiwan? Ouch. Big Ouch. We really have a long way to go.

The inactivity hurt us. It has been quite a while since the team last played together. Much of the attention for the past few months were diverted to our U-23 team, which unfortunately will not be allowed to participate in the SEA Games.
We really need to lay the foundation for PARALLEL PROGRAMS for our senior Azkals and U-23, otherwise, the staff + funding + players are being spread too thin.

Great game by the lads! Shrocky is really untouchable in the pitch. Etheridge played very well as well as Reichelt and Misagh and James too. Barbaso needs to improve his game because due to Carli's injury, we need a replacement for him. James Younghusband is a great replacement though. All in all, congrats to our PHL Azkals! Mabuhay!
BTW, Is it true that we have a friendlies in November? Bob G. said it during the game. If my memory is right, he said that we will play UAE in their home and in India. I hope it pushes through.

Barbaso again did just quite well but not that good enough. credit to Weiss for listening to the fans and fielding Barbaso again for the second time in a row but he just clearly needs more international experience to be a reliable RB.
i like Juani's game today, he clears the ball really well, De Jong is not a CB material so if Juani or Gier is not available why not try Fernandez and Aguinaldo?
