Sources from Bacolod City, the hometown of Ceres-Negros, also confirmed that the busmen are eager to sign Aguinaldo. Ceres-Negros as of the moment are on shopping spree after losing almost one half of their starting eleven. Iain Ramsey, Roland Muller, Josh Grommen, Luke Woodland, Kota Kawase and Fernando Rodriguez have party ways with Ceres and the job to replace these bunch would be a big challenge. pinoyfootball.com/2018/01/02/amani-now-a-hot-property-in-pfl-transfer-market/

Is Risto Vidakovic still with club? Havent seen him in presscons and in the bench. Any update? 29 December 2017 Ceres-Negros head coach suspended for 6 months Ceres to boost lineup with new recruits With goalkeeper Roland Muller going on leave and ace midfielder Iain Ramsay suiting up for another club next season, Ceres-Negros FC hopes to fortify its lineup with new recruits in time for the AFC Champions League next month. In a radio interview, Club administrator Nicolas Golez said they will present to the public the new addition to the team once the deal is finalized. Head Coach RistoVidakovic, he said, is tasked to look for a new goalkeeper and a couple of left wingers. Vidakovic is expected to rejoin the team in the Champions League preliminaries despite the 6-month suspension from the Philippines Football League. Golez said they are still waiting for PFL’s reply on their appeal over Vidakovic’s case. The second season of the PLF is scheduled to start in March 2018 with Ceres-Negros as the defending champions. Ceres-Negros FC barged into the international football season this year with a remarkable performance in the AFC Cup, where they finished with the ASEAN Zone trophy. The Bacolod City-based squad also received the AFC Fair Play Award for the 2017 AFC Cup, a first for a Filipino club in Asian competition. The AFC Fair Play Award is given to the participating club that has collected the most Fair Play points in the competition. Points are awarded for positive play, conduct on and off the field and the behavior of supporters at the stadium and deducted for the number of red and yellow cards received in a match. The Fair Play Award is a first for a Filipino club in Asian competition. The award adds another feather to the cap of the Negros squad who had a successful year being crowned as the tournament’s ASEAN Zone champion and as the inaugural champion of the Philippines Football League.*NAB Ceres-Negros FC will play in the preliminaries of the AFC Champions League against Myanmar on Jan. 16.* source : Visayan Daily Star

There's no assurance that Davao Aguilas will be among the top 2 in the 2018 PFL season and thus his participation in AFC Cup or CL with Davao is far from assured. But with Ceres-Negros, at least this year they will be in the AFC CL or at least the Cup and the team is very much positioned to be in the top 2 at least in 2018 season, and even beyond. But maybe Aguilas will offer him a mouth watering contract that is difficult to refuse. IMHO, joining Aguilas would be mainly for the pocket (and maybe a little bit of hometown connection), but not much on career advancement, which I think should be his priority as he has a lot of potential. I remember that one of the foreign Asst Coaches of Azkals sometime back said that Amani can be one of the best CBs of Azkals. If Amani will continue to improve, we might see him as the first homegrown player that would play in a much competitive league overseas, maybe Thailand or Korea, or maybe even in Europe. We can then only be very proud!

www.foxsports.ph/football/asian-football/807239/ex-betis-man-toni-doblas-set-ceres-muller-replacement/Ceres-Negros look to have replaced Roland Muller by securing the services of former Real Betis and Napoli goalkeeper Toni Doblas. While the newly-crowned Philippines Football League champions are yet to announce the deal, FOX Sports Asia understands that it has been completed and it is only a matter of time before they do, with Doblas already all but confirming the move with a retweet on his official Twitter account. Furthermore, the 37-year-old previously hinted that Philippines was his next port-of-call in a travelled career that has seen him play in Spain, Italy, Azerbaijan, Finland, and even in the Indian Super League with Delhi Dynamos. Doblas is arguably best remembered for his time at Betis, where he was their first-choice goalkeeper from 2004 to 2007 and won the Copa del Rey in 2005. He also won the Coppa Italia in his sole season with Napoli in 2014-15, although he largely spent that campaign as the third-choice custodian behind Pepe Reina and Rafael. Securing a goalkeeper with the experience and credentials of Doblas will be a huge boost for Ceres following their recent spate of departures, which included ex-Philippines international Muller. Thus far, the only signing the Busmen have announced has been that of defender Sean Kane, although they have retained a significant portion of this year’s title-winning squad, including Stephan Schrock, Bienvenido Maranon and OJ Porteria. Still, they will also be looking to replace several who played key roles in the coming weeks, such as Iain Ramsay, Fernando Rodriguez and Kota Kawase. As reward for winning the inaugural edition of the PFL, Ceres are guaranteed a place in the AFC Cup this year but will also look to qualify for the AFC Champions League, where they are set to meet Myanmar’s Shan United in the first preliminary round of qualifying on January 16.

I am from Davao but really happy with Amani's decision. It can only be good for him, and we all want him to improve as much as possible for a stronger national team. Sad to hear though that he won't be fit again until mid of this year. ceresfootball.com/amani-aguinaldo-moves-to-ceres-negros/AMANI AGUINALDO MOVES TO CERES-NEGROS Filipino international defender Amani Aguinaldo officially completed his move to Philippine Champions Ceres-Negros last January 5. The prized defender completed his contract with Global Cebu in 2017 but only received his release papers late last week. The 23-year old has already earned 31 caps for the national team and has been a veteran of the Philippine leagues and the AFC Cup. Amani has been a vital cog to Global since 2013 and has heavily contributed to their success in the last few years. The veteran is expected to feature for the Busmen in the middle of the year as he is currently recovering from a knee injury. Aguinaldo is a welcome addition to the defending champions who are keen to retain their league title in 2018 and venture to new heights in continental competition.

Ceres-Negros unveiled five new players on Thursday as the reigning Philippines Football League champion braces for its maiden appearance in the AFC Champions League qualifying round. National team players Amani Aguinaldo, Mike Ott and Sean Kane were acquired to boost an already-formidable side, while Japanese striker Takumi Uesato and Spanish goalkeeper Toni Doblas also joined the squad that lost the likes of Roland Muller and Iain Ramsay from the championship winning team last season. The Busmen begin their AFC Champions League campaign on Tuesday against Shan United of Myanmar in Yangon. The winner travels to Australia to meet the Brisbane Roar on Jan. 23. Except for Aguinaldo, who is recovering from a knee injury, all of Ceres’ new signings will be available for the Champions League. Aguinaldo spent the last three seasons with Global Cebu. The Davao Aguilas, Aguinaldo’s hometown club, reportedly tried to acquire the young defender. “I wanted to be better and I feel playing with great players at Ceres and playing in top competitions like the AFC Cup gives me that chance to grow,” said Aguinaldo. Ott, who played for Ang Thong in the Thai second division last year, will be reunited with older brother, Manny, at Ceres. Uesato, one of the PFL’s top scorers while playing for JPV Marikina last year, will also play a key role along with Kane, a central defender and right back. But the 37-year-old Doblas has the most impressive resume among the signings having played in top leagues in Europe like La Liga and Serie A in Italy. Doblas, who won the Coppa Italia with Napoli in the 2013-2014 season, played with Ceres coach Risto Vidakovic early in his career at Real Betis. “They’re all good players, but my expectation from them is that they would be professionals and always give everything for the club to stand a chance of repeating, if not surpassing, what we’ve achieved last year,” said Vidakovic. sports.inquirer.net/279041/ceres-sharpens-teeth-new-signings

A well known business saying: "You need money to make money."
The Ceres-Negros team is currently investing money to get all those "more expensive than normal" players to beef up the team for the up coming AFC Champions League. In this type of tournament, the more you move up, i.e. win games, the more you make money. So the calculus of the Ceres-Negros owners/investors is that they should make enough money before being eliminated in the tournament. This will allow them to make payroll and have enough operating cost for the next session of the PFL. And considering the current PFL opponents, they should again make it to the next AFC Champions League and do it all over again. A great plan, and everybody is happy.
But what if, the PFL folded due to NOT enough teams, since the other teams may fold due to financial difficulties, i.e. due to operating cost and low stadium attendance? Then, Ceres-Negros will have to honor those player contracts and lose all those money they may have saved while things were at status quo. Another strategy is to sell the contracts of their best players to other AFC teams, hopefully making money. If owners/investors have used the typical "engineer's safety factor calculation", they should not be losing money, hopefully break even.
The business of a football franchise simplified.

12 January 2018 MIKE OTT: I’M LOOKING FORWARD TO THE SEASON Mike Ott is one of the many big names to sign for Ceres-Negros this year. The current Azkals player is looking forward to the new season with his new club who will start their campaign in a few days time. The younger Ott had a few practices in the bag after arriving with his teammates in Bacolod last January 10 and the Philippine champions already left an impression after a couple of days. “Ceres here (in the Philippines) is one of the best clubs, last year they were the best club,” said the 22-year old attacker. “They have a good team here, so many good players. The coaching staff is very good. Everything about the club is very good, the standard is very high” The Filipino international is setting a high standard for himself especially now with the new challenge of continental competition. “I wanna play a good season. Like now in the AFC, I want to play good in the first games but I’m not looking so far ahead. I’m looking at every week to get fit and prepare myself to be in a very good shape.” Ott is also excited to work at club level with his older brother Manny who has been a veteran of the squad since 2014. “We have a chance to play together like in the Azkals and that’s very good,” said the former Angthong FC player. “I’m looking forward to give my quality to my new club. Play together and give everything for the club. I’m looking forward to the season,” he added Ott doesn’t have to wait long for his debut as Ceres-Negros is set to play Shan United in Yangon, Myanmar on January 16. ceresfootball.com/mike-ott-im-looking-forward-to-the-season/

03 February 2019 Schrock optimistic of Ceres-Negros chances vs. Yangon Utd in AFC Champions League Ceres-Negros will open their campaign in the AFC Champions League 2019 preliminaries against Yangon United of Myanmar on Feb. 5 at the Panaad Park and Sports Stadium. During the team’s visit and press conference Thursday at the Bacolod City National High School, Ceres’ star midfielder Stephan Schrock expressed his optimism that the Busmen will prevail over the visitors from Myanmar. “I’m very confident that we will win. We’re very grateful to represent the city,” Schrock said. “We have very good additions, (replacing) the veterans who left, and the team’s mindset is always winning,” he added. Last month, Patrick Reichelt, who played for Ceres-Negros for five years, left the team, along with fellow veteran Manny Ott and Spanish goalkeeper Toni Doblas. The team also released defender Jerry Barbasao, who joined the team last year. Replacing their spots in the team are keeper Ronilio Bayan Jr., defenders Alvaro Silva and Dennis Villanueva, and midfielders Miguel Tanton, Angelo Marasigan and Dylan de Bruycker. Echoing Schrock’s optimism, Ceres-Negros assistant coach Ian Treyes said the team is highly-motivated to face Yangon Unted. “The adjustment with the new players is in the system. Each of us is 100 percent focused on this game,” Treyes said. A win against Yangon United will allow Ceres to advance against Chiangrai United of Thailand in the second stage of the preliminaries.* www.visayandailystar.com/2019/February/02/sportnews1.htm

ceresfootball.com/manny-ott-comes-home-looks-forward-afc-cup/Ott joins the squad who just finished a grueling AFC Champions League campaign where they beat regional champions in Shan United and Port FC before bowing out against an elite Asian team in FC Tokyo. The midfielder would be a welcome addition to the squad after being a key cog in the past campaigns especially with the 2017 AFC Cup Asean Zone title. “I’ve missed competing int the AFC Cup”, said Ott. “There’s a lot of pride and honor in playing in continental competition with Ceres-Negros. I just want to have a good start now with the upcoming game and I’m definitely looking forward to it.” He wouldn’t have to look further as he and Ceres-Negros will battle Cambodia champs Preah Khan Reach Svay Rieng FC on February 11 at the Rizal Memorial Stadium.
