It seems that they have chosen Thomas Dooley as the new head coach of the Philippine national football team. It is not official yet, but many sources including from the US has started commenting about him being chosen. His linked in profile shows him with his new title www.linkedin.com/pub/thomas-dooley/5a/a07/7b0I think his connections to the USSF during his stint as assistant coach to the US men's national team and his friendship to German legend and current US men's national team coach Jurgen Klinsmann will be very helpful to our program. Klinsmann did a good job as head coach of the German national team in 2004-06 and his assistants at that time current head coach Joachim Low carried on his attacking style of play. If(and I would have to qualify that I don't really know what style Dooley prefers)Thomas brings this experience to the Azkals, we should be very pleased at how our team will play. He is very fluent in English and a good communicator so I think the media will love him. He is also an outstanding soccer teacher in the US which should benefit our local and younger players. I knew about the interest on Dooley long before this was announced, and received positive feedback from several sources here in the US after several inquiries, which might have helped the team management make their decision after I communicated this to them.

So there is still German influence. It would still have a good communication with our Fil-German players. I just wonder since he is based in US that what term would he used here to determine the sport. "Football" or "Soccer" Anyway doesn't matter. I hope he could bring the bacon for the country. Coaching Experience: (based on Wikipedia) 2002-2003 FC Saarbrucken (Currently in 3.Liga of Germany)
Hmmm. a defender or defensive midfielder eh. Then I think he could assess our defensive problem

parang azkals din ang story ng bagong coach ng Azkals. Foreign recruit by the US back then , tapos naging team captain pa . ! as a player medjo magaling , as a coach ? hindi pa alam ? but naging assitant coach din ng US national team dati . so baka pwde na .
one of the major factors why PFF hire this coach was his vision for the team . one of my sources said , magaling mag "powerpoint" , which can also translates into good image handling for the team . !

PFF has not confirmed Dooley as a new Azkals coach.

im not really impressed with his credentials but i hope he can do the talking. It seemed like he is good on pointing out everything about the team but he should prove himself that he is well capable of handling our team

This could attract lots of Pinoy players from the US. Just like having lots of players from Germany during Weiss time.

For me, this hiring made the most sense. Sure, we can question his experience and lack of knowledge of "Asian" football, but you can make the same argument with the other candidates like Bakero.
Let's give Dooley a chance first. Let's see how the players respond to him at the helm. Let's see how they perform under his tutelage.
At the end of the day, if the team is performing at a high level and getting the results, that's all that really matters, right?

Nonong just called us. Said nothing is official and the Azkals Foundation has no right to speak for the PFF. He sounded upset.
How come PFF president Araneta said they haven't made an announcement? Maybe it was Dan Palami but he's not the PFF!
PFF president Araneta told us they will talk via Skype to another top candidate tonight.
Dan Palami Tweets
to be clear, final negotiations re terms of contract lis still ongoing but will be finalized when he arrives next week and meet w/ PFF
Makes me wonder about PFF Pres. Araneta
@ronnathanielsz Cant understand why Noning Araneta told us earlier today it was not a done deal.
