Already, this early Dooley seems to be demonstrating the work ethic I was looking for in a coach. Scouting and watching your players in their domestic league as well as abroad, is an essential component for any national team coach and I really did not know how they could tolerate Weiss rarely ever doing this.

I didn't even know that De Murga is close to returning. Well, if he can gain match fitness quickly, he'll certainly be a key part of the team.

The two "new" members of the USMNT line up that played vs Korea Rep, those two had their first cap in that game, youngster DeAndre Yedlin and Luis Gil. They were from the USMNT U-20 roster that Coach Tab Ramos along with Coach Doodles handled. Anyway, both players were scouted and enrolled into their respective programs since 2005. So why am I saying this? My assumption is that Coach Doodles has a great understanding of this process that's taken place in America, especially on the part of Coaches communicating with the different clubs and different scouts. I've been in the land of mickey mouse for a while and it's pretty amazing how these things have evolved. That said, I think the right person has arrived.

I quoted the wrong phrase up there so let me do this again:) cjeagle, The two "new" members of the USMNT line up that played vs Korea Rep, those two had their first cap in that game, youngster DeAndre Yedlin and Luis Gil. azkaholic
I wish you wouldn't compare what the USSF is doing vis a vis the PFF. The Philippines just doesn't have the finances, personnel, experiences, developmental system and administrative savvy at this stage to even follow that script. I am just glad we are improving at this point, even though I still think the PFF can do better with their developmental efforts.
I agree though that Dooley has an eye for scouting, so hopefully he can find the right players to fit into the proper spots to fit this team and get the most from what is available.

Nope, not comparing at all. You're right about the finances and admin savvy. I'm just referencing Doodles' background in the USSF that could maybe become a key tool in light of where the PFF wants to go. Who knows really where the PFF wants to go:) Wait, the PFF doesn't have an idea where to go! So now we have a been-there-done-that-bought-the-tshirt-for-it guy in Coach Dooley. It just makes sense, doesn't it? It's also interesting to note that he once was a part of a team earlier in the US soccer's history that had to work with what they had. I dont know but think it's a really promising trajectory what we have here.

“It was good to see Phil on the field, how he moves, how he does. And I was very impressed seeing him play live,” Dooley said. While Phil seems to be a shoo-in, others have to prove themselves all over again. “Everybody has to,” Dooley admitted. “Not because you played in the national team, it’s like a given. Obviously, players who’ve been in the national team and play good will always be there. That’s for sure.” “But there’s possibility that people coming in and don’t train very well. Then you have to make a decision … to let them out,” he added. www.spin.ph/sports/football/news/dooley-impressed-with-younghusband-but-insists-azkals-will-have-to-earn-place-in-team

Carli still have a lot of time to regain his match fitness. of course, Pettys and Barbaso would also try to impress Dooley so there's a competition in very position
how about Aly? what is the time frame for his recovery? why it took him so long to recover?

I think Rota would be a good replacement for de Murga at right back, if he is not 100%. He might even be better.

I thought Rota plays Center Back? I think we need more help in that position. At least we have Barbaso, De Murga, Pettys, Omphroy, Jonsson, etc. as options on Right.
