And hoping the organizers will allow water breaks as they used in first days of the tournament if the temperature on Saturday is 28 celsius and above. . . with the excruciating heat both sides playing in the pitch will really need it. . .

Turkmenistan will be missing a goaltender and 2 centerbacks to suspension for their match against us this Saturday but they will be gaining late arriving Ruslan Mingazov, their best player as well. Their losses will help compensate for our loss of Neil Etheridge and Juani Guirado to injury but fortunately we have able replacements in Roland Muller and Jerry Lucena. Despite needing only a draw, we should still strive for a win to clinch our place in the semifinal. I am hoping the Azkals will capitalize with this development. . .I know Neil's injury is only minor, how about Juani is it serious? From this article it sounds like both players will be out for the rest of the tournament. www.the-afc.com/en/afc-challenge-2014-cup-all-news/28640-dooley-confirms-injury-of-key-duo.html

Group B Scenarios courtesy of Palestine football blog:
This is the more straightforward of the groups. Laos are already out and can only affect this group as a spoiler in their final game against Afghanistan. Turkmenistan have dug themselves a hole with their disastrous performance today; anything less than a win will see them exit the tournament a week earlier than expected.
Afghanistan will advance as Group winners with:
A win vs. Laos A draw vs. Laos AND a draw in the Turkmenistan-Philippines match
Afghanistan will advance as Runners-Up with:
A draw vs. Laos AND a Turkmenistan win vs. Philippines A draw vs. Laos AND a Philippines win vs. Turkmenistan A loss vs. Laos AND a draw in the Turkmenistan-Philippines match
Philippines will advance as Group winners with:
A win vs. Turkmenistan by a 2+ goal margin more than an Afghan victory over Laos A win vs. Turkmenistan AND an Afghanistan loss vs. Laos A win vs. Turkmenistan AND an Afghanistan draw vs. Laos A draw vs. Turkmenistan AND an Afghanistan loss vs. Laos A draw vs. Turkmenistan AND an Afghanistan draw vs. Laos- provided they score more in their draw
Philippines will advance as Runners-Up with:
A win vs. Turkmenistan AND an Afghanistan win vs. Laos A draw vs. Turkmenistan AND an Afghanistan win vs. Laos A draw vs. Turkmenistan AND an Afghanistan draw vs. Laos A loss vs. Turkmenistan AND an Afghanistan loss vs. Laos by a greater margin
Turkmenistan will advance as Group winners with:
A win vs. Philippines AND an Afghanistan draw vs. Laos A win vs. Philippines AND an Afghanistan loss vs. Laos
Turkmenistan will advance as Runners-Up with:
A win vs. Philippines AND an Afghanistan win vs. Laos

A draw would be enough for us to advance no matter what the result of the other match while the Turkmen are in a must win situation. I expect them to cone out with all guns blazing sans suspensions thus it would be important for us to score eatly to dampen their spirit.
We should still play for the win and must match turkmenistan's hunger and energy as I expect turkmenistan to go on an all out attack from the opening whistle. This is where Juani's injury bothers me as he had been stellar the past 2 matches and gier had been a bit spotty in the Laos match. Good thing Lucena is very much capable at CB to fill up Juani's place and I hope Gier's game would pick up.

Is it really the 28-35 deg Celsius temp which are bothering the Azkals? I don't think so, in Bahrain, it'll be more than 40 deg Celsius even in the evening! The local-based Azkals will have no problem playing in a humid archipelago like Maldives, it's no different in the Philippines. Heck, ours is hotter and more humid than Maldives.
If the problem is the travelling, I suggest they just billet the team in Male so it'll be closer. Or if they want to save some expenses, they can travel earlier than their usual travel time and just stay there in Male (of course under a shade and drink some ice cold coconut juice for "morale boost" LOL).

We Believe Azkals!!

We Believe Azkals!! Juani Guirado is out for the rest of the tournament. Quite possibly Neil Etheridge too. But in an absolutely tragic emergency situation Neil can probably still play. I just hope Juani's injuries aren't too serious so he can still play in the Suzuki Cup. Neil needs to get this recurring injury sorted out in time for that too.

We Believe Azkals!! I'm with you, why 4pm for the first match when it's really boiling hot? And 9pm for the second game which the host Maldives' all matches are scheduled, the time when temperature becomes milder... I really pity the Laotians yesterday as almost half of them had cramps, I did saw their coach arguing with the referees about water breaks, he is even throwing water bottles to his players unmindful of the referees' warning.

Just looking at Tomorrows Games. Group A.(with the hosts obviosly) are getting the late night kickoff.cool breeze and no burning Sunlight.. While Group B. gets the hot humid 4pm kick off.. where Cramps and heatstroke are very easy to come by.. I saw at least 5 Laotian players get Cramps yesteday and that was pretty bad for them.. Hopefully for our game tomorrow, Our players have a fitness advantage over the Turks. and The Laotians have the edge against the Afghan. this is their third 4pm game.. I think its the Afghans.first 4pm game?.. and their full pressure system will surely wear them out come halftime.. I expect us Winning 2-0. and 1-1 draw for the afghan-Laos game.
