Any more news on Neil? Did QPR drop him yet? Neil was just a trialist there. Also, QPR signed goalkeeper Alex McCarthy instead.

There are a few leagues in Asia that have not kicked off yet. Maybe he should ask his agent to send out feelers if any club in Asia wishes a 'Keeper with 40 Caps. Bet you he gets signed in 2 weeks.

Short-term contract. He has until end of the year to earn an extension. Which also marks the beginning of the transfer period.

I have spoken to players & we have senior PFF members commenting here, they consider it a divisive label that causes pain. ________ Notice to all Filipino football fans: I would like to remind everyone not to refer to our Filipinos based abroad as Fil Foreigners. They consider themselves Filipinos based abroad(having embraced their Filipino identity) and not foreigners. Acc. to Craig Burrows who has talked to some of them, they resent that term and consider it racist. It might even discourage potential players from playing for our team.

I am not sure what term you are referring to, but I think it is okay to call them FilAm, Fil Euro, Fil Brit, etc. It is just the term foreigner is like calling someone 'dayuhan' someone alien, and not Filipino. Depending on the context it is considered somewhat derogatory in some cultures.

Actually, I've never heard the term Fil-f*r outside football conversations so I guess the "culprit" is just within the community. People I've encountered personally don't even know the term. Just say that they're Filipino & avoid all those Fil-___ all together. IMO any label is divisive because it categorize people. on the other hand, players who grew up abroad should also try to understand how it is here. In general, you are either "tubo/native" or "dayo/foreign", doesn't matter what your nationality is. If you didn't grow up in a certain place you're "dayo" & there is no malice or bad intention, that is part of our culture. The same "system" applies between kalyes, barangays, regions or countries.

I totally agree ... Filipino. It's amazing to me that we want to categorize, considering 4 different colonizers coming through the country (Spain, Great Britain, United States, Japan). You figure we would be accepting of the Azkals cultural mix because of our colonized history, but there have been folks moaning about this since day one ... the day the Azkals stepped into the national consciousness. Either they just hate football and want to bring it down or they are trying to infuse a sense of pride in our indigenous roots by putting down Filipino mestizos ... many of whom are probably more Filipino culturally than those who are pure Malay. I guess 500 years of colonization and the lingering American presence is still keeping us in the dark.

you may add the "pure Filipino" or "all Filipino". Heard that term over and over again during the little Azkals documentary. I think the PFF should deal with this. Why not use the term homegrown or grassroots players instead or in the case of Neil, Rob and Juani, overseas players.
