Looking at our huge Azkal pool now I'm glad that we finally have a coach who's taking the time to really look in depth at our local or locally based players more closely. It's also great that our Peace Cup is getting tougher and tougher teams. Who knows, it may be the type of competition that SEA teams would love to be invited too! And from a basketball nation to boot! Beat Palestine!! cjeagle who's 39 ^^ This is what Im Thinking every year teams are getting stronger maybe next peace cup we can also invite some stronger SEA Teams for PPC and maybe the management can also expand the number of participants, by next year we will gonna have a lot of venues. Might as well PPC will end up like SUZUKI CUP. WOW!!! Am I dreaming? hahaha Anyway, for now... credits to the management players are looking Good so far.

ph.sports.yahoo.com/blogs/thepassionatefan/chieffy-aly-battle-regain-azkals-spots-054410348.html#more-idBorromeo certainly appreciates the leadership of Thomas Dooley. “I like the way he does his drills. He works on different aspects of the game like agility work, coordination stuff, tactics, and then we play in the end. It's a good mix.” “(Former coach Michael) Weiss was more focused on fitness and direct play. Dooley is more into the tactics, and he knows the players individually.” Borromeo will need to outplay a pretty tough array of defenders to make the team. Not only are veterans Rob Gier and Juani Guirado set to arrive in time for the Peace Cup on September 3, but new Filipino-Spanish defender Alvaro Silva is likely to make an appearance. Of course Amani Aguinaldo, the youngster who performed heroically in the Challenge Cup in Maldives, could be selected. Kaya team mate Anton Del Rosario is also an option at centerback. Like Borromeo, Caligdong likes what he sees from the new regime. “Iba na ang system, training, conditioning, at treatment. Mas organized na.”

@azkalsofficial: Mike Ott informed the Azkals recently that he cannot join the Peace Cup, to focus on his chance to enter the first team at his club 1 FCN.
Apparently both Lucena and Patino withdrew from the Peace Cup because they are nursing injuries.

“Mike Ott didn’t want to come. He’s close to the team in Nuremberg. I think it could have been better for him to come with us and get some experience instead of playing for the Under-23 team, but it is OK,” Dooley said. “But in the end he makes the decision that maybe in the Suzuki Cup he is available for us and it is great.” It’s not all bad news for the Azkals however, as Roland Mueller, Paul Mulders, Rob Gier and defender Alvaro Silva have confirmed their participation in the tournament. www.interaksyon.com/interaktv/chieffy-caligdong-aly-borromeo-among-notable-absentees-from-azkals-peace-cup-lineupWe might finally get to see Mike Ott and Alvaro Silva play if not in the Peace Cup at least at the Suzuki Cup.
