PFF Offers AFC Cup Slot to UFL Winnerwww.philstar.com/sports/2015/02/03/1419582/pff-offers-afc-cup-slot-ufl-winnerUpdated February 3, 2015 - 12:00am MANILA, Philippines - The Philippine Football Federation (PFF) yesterday said that the champion of the United Foootball League (UFL) will qualify to the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Cup group stages when the UFL season resumes this Saturday at the Rizal football turf.Local football fans have been awaiting for the start of the eliminations to see how their favorite clubs will kick off their campaigns after the three-month layoff following the FA League Cup with the event regarded as the toughest and most grueling tournament in the UFL season. Although Global is the first Filipino club to participate in the AFC Cup group stages, the Leigh Manson-coached side has had to endure some heartbreaks in their last two competitions. It fell short against Loyola Meralco Sparks in the final of the PFF National Club Championship and bowed to Ceres-La Salle in the FA League Cup championship last November.Ceres-La Salle and Manila Jeepney face off at 2:15 p.m., Kaya sees clashes with Philippine Army at 5:15 p.m. while Global begins its league campaign against Green Archers at 8:15 p.m.A total of 10 clubs makes up the First Division of the League. __________________ How about Loyola, the PFF National Champion? It seems that this decision was made because Global didn't win the PFF Nationals... The decision was made last December 2014 which was 1 month before the PFF National Championship games were played

AFC CUP - Ceres Ready for Playoff in Maldiveswww.visayandailystar.com/2015/February/13/sportnews1.htmFriday, February 13, 2015 The members of the Ceres-La Salle Football Club are leaving for Manila today on the first leg of their trip to Maldives for their AFC Cup playoff match against host Maziya S& RC on February 17.Club director Ali Go said the one-game playoff gives Ceres FC a chance to advance into the group stage of the AFC Cup, the second highest tournament of the Asian Football Confederation.Aside from advancing into the group stage, Go said winning the playoff will give Ceres FC at least three home games that will allow the Negrenses to once again, witness international football matches in the province. He said the team has been training hard and the players are ready to give their 100 percent against the Maldivian football club, Maziya.Tactically, Go said they have a solid system for the AFC Cup, a scheme that is different from what they are adopting in the UFL.“We will be playing against a club that has played in the AFC Cup for three straight years...but we are ready and the team is all set to do and give our best,” he added.

Global FC, Ceres Vie in 2015 AFC Cup www.philstar.com/sports/2015/02/15/1423929/global-fc-ceres-vie-afc-cupUpdated February 15, 2015 - 12:00am MANILA, Philippines - Global FC and Ceres-La Salle FC get their baptism of fire in Asian-level club competition when they vie in the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Cup starting next week.Ceres plays Maldives FA champ Maziya Sports and Recreation in a playoff on Tuesday at the National Stadium in Male to dispute a spot to the tournament proper in Group E along with direct entrants Bengaluru of India, Persipura Jayapura of Indonesia, and Warriors of Singapore.Unlike Ceres, reigning UFL champ Global FC has been seeded into the group stage. The Global booters will compete in Group G and will make their debut at home on Feb. 25 at Rizal Memorial.“Two of our clubs have been allowed to compete in the AFC Cup and we support them because it’s very important in the development of Philippine football that local clubs are also progressing,” Philippine Football Federation (PFF) president Nonong Araneta said in “The Football Connection” program on DZSR. Should Ceres make it through, Araneta said it would hold their home games in Bacolod. As for Global, the team is also eyeing home matches at the new Philippine Stadium. The team had initially listed Rizal as its home venue but asked the AFC to hold it at the 25,000-seater venue in Bocaue, Bulacan. The AFC didn’t agree, at least for the Feb. 25 home fixture against South China of Hong Kong.“We received an advice from the AFC saying they could no longer transfer the first home game because of sponsorship matters, etc. and that they needed at least a one-month notice in changing the venue. So it’s gonna be at Rizal first and then the second game of Global will be at the Philippine Stadium,” said Araneta.Global’s Philippine Stadium debut will be on April 15, when it hosts Yadanarbon of Myanmar. The team will have a third match at home on May 13 versus Pahang FC.

Global FC AFC Cup Home Game Moved to Rizal Memorialwww.rappler.com/sports/by-sport/football/84139-global-fc-afc-cup-home-game-rizalPublished 3:21 AM, Feb 17, 2015 Updated 3:21 AM, Feb 17, 2015 MANILA, Philippines - Due to ‘logistical’ issues, the earlier announced home game of Global FC for the AFC Cup at the newly built Philippine Sports Stadium (PSS), will now be moved to the country’s national football stadium inside the Rizal Memorial Sports Complex.According to the club’s chief executive Dan Palami, they opted to hold the first home game at the Rizal Memorial Football Stadium instead of the PSS because of time restrictions.“The inspection could not be done on time because of the logistical requirements. We had to forgo the first game at the PSS. If the process was done earlier, I think we would have been able to get the permit to play in the PSS.” The defending UFL champs are scheduled to play Hong Kong’s South China AA here in the country on February 25 for the continental club football tilt’s group stage.Meanwhile, Palami revealed that he is still uneasy about their chances of emerging victorious in the tournament due to the slow start of Global’s campaign in the UFL.“ still worried because these are stronger teams that we have to face. We need to be more clinical on our finish to make sure that we don’t lose a lot of scoring opportunities. It’s a different level there.”Aside from the match against South China, Global FC will be playing two more home games in the cup against Myanmar’s Yadanarbon FC and Malaysian club Pahang FA, venues of which are yet to be revealed.

www.maldivesoccer.com/s/I-dont-have-any-pressure-says-Suzain-5699Maziya’s head coach Ali Suzain said that he don't have any pressure ahead of the AFC Cup play off match against Philippines Ceres La Salle Football Club tomorrow here in the capital city of Male, Maldives. “I don’t have any pressure ahead of this game eventhough if it’s a play off game. We have 90 minutes to play and we can win the game if the players performed as they are doing now, we can win it.” Maziya’s head coach Ali Suzain said in the pre match press conference. “We will fight for a win and if our senior players especially the national team players performed well I am sure we can win the match against Ceres.” When asked about the role of their newly signed playmaker Mohamed Umair, he replied that it was a huge advantage for them to have him. “Umair will start in tomorrow’s game and he is not a new player to play with these players in Maziya. And I can say that he will perform well in this match.” On the other hand his counterpart Cha Soung Yooung, head coach of Ceres La Salle Football Club said that they will work for a win and this will be their debut in AFC Cup. “We came here for a win and this is our first match in AFC Cup but Maziya is a very experienced team in this tournament and I hope for a good game.” “We don’t have much information about Maziya and all we knew is that they have few players from the national team. Most important thing is to prepare my team and not to think about Maziya." Ceres’s hitman Spanish, Adrian Gallardo said that they need to win this match and it will be a historic win for them. “We need to win this match and it will be a historic win for us and our country. We are fully preared for this match and everyone is ready for this game.” Maziya will play against Ceres tomorrow evening at 1600 hours at National Football Stadium. ___ It doesn't sound like the Ceres coaching staff has talked to McMenemy.
