• Julian Garcia Schwarzer (Modified and Updated by Cjeagle with sources from Philippine Football History page) DOB: Oct. 26, 1999 (22) Height: 181 cm [5'11"] Weight: 72 kg [160 lbs] Father: Mark Schwarzer Mother: Paloma Garcia Schwarzer Grand-uncle: Albert M.G. Garcia [former Phil. national team player] Clubs: Fulham FC U18 [2018], FC Pipinsried [2018-2019], Harlow Town FC [2019-2020], Basingstoke Town FC [2020], Fulham FC U21 [2020-2022, 2022], Kingstonian FC [2022 - on loan], ADT [present] Julian is the son of Mark Schwarzer, the Australia socceroos legend who had over 500 Premier League appearances, and played for big English clubs like Fulham, Chelsea, Leicester City and Middlesbrough. Julian's mother Paloma Garcia is a Filipina who migrated with her family to Australia. Paloma Garcia is also the grandniece of Albert M.G. Garcia, who was a former national team player for the Philippines in the 1960s, while her father Arturo also played football for De La Salle in Manila, and played in minor leagues in Spain as a student there. Julian struggled to make bigger strides in his career as a goalkeeper in England, apparently due to a perceived lack of height by European league standards but should flourish in Asia where his height won't be considered a liability.

interesting find. I had to look it up myself and found Julian's IG with his bio with filipino flag along with aussie, german, and spanish flags. I didn't know Mark's married to a Filipina and has a son playing football. Its probably a long shot for the Azkals to get him with his dad being an aussie international in the past.

Yes, He is Eligible to play for us via his grandparents. Mom is Filipino-Spanish but I'm not sure which side is Filipino as his mom surname's is Garcia. He's also Eligble to play for England (birthplace), Germany (paternal side), Australia, Spain (through his Mom).
He was just recently released by Fulham Under-18,He may be on the radar of Australian Football right now but I feel they're not that high on him though.

Aussie legend Mark Schwarzer says his son is eyeing spot in PHL U23 AUSTRALIAN legend Mark Schwarzer said his son Julian, 21, is headed to the Philippines to try his luck with the national U23 squad. Schwarzer, who played for close to 20 years in the premier league, mostly with Fulham, said his son Julian Garcia Schwarzer is eligible to play for the country because his wife has Filipino roots. In an interview with Josh Thomas of Sportingnews.com, Schwarzer, who was Fulham’s No. 1 during Neil Etheridge’s stint there, said his son, who is 5-foot-11, is having a hard time in Europe and is hoping a move to the Philippines will give him the needed playing time. National team manager Dan Palami said they’ve been in contact with Julian and Mark since the last Southeast Asian Games but problems with securing a Philippine passport prevented the youngster from flying over. In the interview with Sportingsnews.com, the elder Schwarzer said they are trying to secure a visa. “He’s in a bit of a limbo at the moment because he’s in the process of getting his visa sorted out to go to the Philippines. My wife has Filipino nationality and our son has the eligibility to play for the Philippines, so there’s the opportunity for him to go over there and play for a developmental side, which is their Under 23 national team,” Schwarzer told Thomas. The Azkals Development Team, which is composed of the U23 national team, sees action in the Philippine Football League. cebusports.net/aussie-legend-mark-schwarzer-says-his-son-is-eyeing-spot-in-phl-u23/

www.sportingnews.com/au/football/news/not-tall-enough-mark-schwarzers-son-julian-set-for-asian-move-after-european-snub/1cuoyni7ntbag1q9p39zgti703The son of iconic Australian goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer is battling to follow in his father's famous footsteps with a lack of height stalling his progress in Europe. Julian Schwarzer has previously been part of Fulham's youth set-up and spent last year with lower league English club Basingstoke Town where he was crowned their away player of the season. The 21-year-old has however struggled to make bigger strides in his career as a goalkeeper due to a perceived lack of height. Currently standing at 181 centimetres tall, 14cm shorter than his father, clubs across Europe haven't been willing to give Julian a proper chance. As a result, the young shot-stopper is set to head to the Philippines where he'll get a greater chance to play and potentially secure a place in their national team set-up. Mark Schwarzer, speaking to Sporting News in association with sports betting community OLBG, revealed his son's next steps and why he's had to look elsewhere for an opportunity. "He’s in a bit of a limbo at the moment because he’s in the process of getting his visa sorted out to go to the Philippines," Schwarzer said. "My wife has Filipino nationality and our son has the eligibility to play for the Philippines so there’s the opportunity for him to go over there and play for a development side which is their Under 23 national team. "The manager is very keen to have him there, a man called Scott Cooper, who manages the national team. "Once he gets over there there’s an opportunity to play games, play at the top level in the Philippines with the view to prepare him for Under 23 national team games but also the long-term view of having him in and around the national team and of course just being in the shop window. "Unfortunately for my son he’s not tall enough to play in Europe as a goalkeeper. "He’s just under six foot. In Asia that height is acceptable but anywhere in Europe it’s not unless you’re playing in a lower league. Even then there’s a lot of managers of clubs who wouldn’t even be interested in him because they just think he’s not tall enough and that he can’t come out and dominate his 18-yard box even though that’s one of the stronger points of his game." As the son of a Socceroo who made those famous penalty saves in 2005, Julian didn't initially choose to play as a goalkeeper and remains capable of lining up without gloves when needed. "He’s a very skilled outfield player as well," Schwarzer said. "In pre-season he’s come on for Fulham’s U23’s as an outfield player and then for Basingstoke they’ve actually made him their number one keeper but with the view that if games are in a certain situation and they maybe need something extra he’ll come out of goal and play on the field. "The transition happened when he was about 15 and he decided he wanted to give goalkeeping a go. "He always used to play in the garden in goal and all sorts of stuff so he had a natural pull to it and he’s done incredibly well seeing as he’s only played there for six years now." www.sportingnews.com/au/football/news/not-tall-enough-mark-schwarzers-son-julian-set-for-asian-move-after-european-snub/1cuoyni7ntbag1q9p39zgti703

He also made his debut for the Philippines in a friendly against Timor-Leste(4-1 win) in Bali in 2022. Welcome to the Profiles section Julian.
His excellent performance in his debut for the Philippines as well as in the PFL bodes well for the U23 SEA men's football contingent to the upcoming SEA games later this year which will probably rely mostly on players from the PFL as the games are scheduled outside of the FIFA calendar.
