Shela Mae Cadag scores thrice anew to power the Philippines past Mongolia Mae Cadag is really having a hot tournament for the Philippine Women’s National Football Team. The University of Santo Tomas Growling Tigress fired in her second hat trick of the tournament to power the Filipinas towards a 5-1 victory over Mongolia at the Hisor Central Stadium in Hisor, Tajikistan, to clinch their third straight win in the first round of the 2020 AFC Women’s Olympic Qualifying Tournament. Cadag struck past Mongolia’s starting goalkeeper Erdenebileg Tsendjav in the 8th, 15th, and 85th minutes of the match. Fellow UAAP forwards Camille Rodriguez and Kyla Inquig also got into the scoring act when they scored their first strikes in the competition in the 60th and 81st minutes respectively. Midfielder Undrakh Ulziibayar was the Mongolians’ lone scorer today when she converted a penalty at the first half stoppage time at Filipina goalie Inna Palacios’ expense, to dent the Philippines’ performance. The result leaves the Philippines in 2nd place of Group A with 9 points. As of this writing, the Filipinas are behind their Chinese Taipei counterparts only by goal difference, as the latter has scored four more goals than the former. Let Dimzon’s ladies hope to clinch an outright berth to the next phase of the competition when they face fellow top team Chinese Taipei at 4:00 PM Philippine time, on November 13, 2018 at the same venue. Malditas march on to round 2 of the Olympic qualifiers after smothering Mongolia The Philippines progressed to the second round of Women's Olympic qualifiers with a match to spare following their 5-1 rout of Mongolia Sunday afternoon (evening Manila time) in Hisor, Tajikistan. Following the withdrawal of UAE and Macau in Group B. the qualifying format was tweaked instantly with the top two sides in each group automatically qualified, with the two best third place finishers completing the cast for round two. Despite the late change in format, Let Dimzon's Malditas showed no signs of slowing down in Group A play, with debutant Shelah Cadag notching her second hat-trick in three matches to set up Tuesday's tiff with Michelle Pao and Chinese Taipei for the group's top honors. Cadag put the Filipinas ahead eight minutes into the match, and then added another one fifteen minutes later before being pegged back by an Undrakh Ulziibayar penalty deep into added time for a 2-1 halftime lead. However, Camille Rodriguez resumed normal services at the hour mark, with Kyla Inquig netting her first full international strike in the 81st minute. Cadag completed the hat-trick five minutes before full time to complete the rout. The Philippine Women’s National Football Team got off to a great start to the second round of the Olympic Qualifiers with a 2-0 victory over Iran. The Pinays were tentative for most of the first half, which enabled Iran to dictate possession. The ladies in blue then regrouped at half-time and stunned their Central Asian counterparts with two early second-half goals. Hali Long headed an Eva Madarang long throw-in towards goal in the 47th minute, but missed. Then Joyce Semacio exploited an Iranian defender’s frantic clearance, and executed a brilliant volley that looped over the goalkeeper for the Philippines’ first goal of the round. Five minutes later, Sara Castañeda threaded the needle to get the ball to her La Sallian teammate Alisha Del Campo. The current leading scorer in UAAP Season 81 wrong-footed Iranian keeper Zahra Khajavi to double the scoreline. Iran was suddenly desperate, as momentum shifted to the other side of the field. Fortunately, Inna Palacios made some acrobatic saves to keep the hijab-clad ladies scoreless until full-time, nabbing a tenth career international cleansheet in the process. The Philippines now share 3 points with Chinese Taipei, who lead slightly at the top of the table on goal difference. The Filipinas will face them next on Saturday, April 6 at the Grand Hamad Stadium in Doha, Qatar 8:00 p.m. local time (Sunday, April 7, 1:00 a.m. Philippine time.) Iran XI: Khajavi (GK), Amineh, Motevali, Sohrabi, Sarbali, Ghanbari (C), Chahkandi, Taherkhani, Hamoudi, Rouzbahan, Dabbaghi Philippines XI: Palacios (GK), Long, Dolino, Tomanon, Bernal, Impelido (C), Simarago, Navaja, Del Campo, Castañeda, Semacio tiebreakertimes.com.ph/tbt/pwnft-blanks-iran-reopen-olympic-qualifiers-campaign-style/145662

Philippines 2-4 Chinese Taipei The Philippine Women’s National Team suffered a heartbreaking 2-4 defeat to Chinese Taipei in the 2020 Women’s Olympic Football Tournament Asian Qualifiers Round 2 last Saturday 6 April 2019 at the Grand Hamad Stadium in Doha, Qatar. Patricia Tomanon doubled the advantage in the 32nd minute off another defensive mishap from Chinese Taipei. The two first half Philippines goals were the first two goals Chinese Taipei have conceded in the qualifiers. However, Chinese Taipei reduced the deficit late in the first half from the penalty spot before scoring three unanswered goals in the second half to hand the Philippines a 2-4 loss. The Philippines remained in second place in Group C of the Olympic qualifiers with 3 points.
