Jarvey Gayoso signing with Thai football club Muangthong United JARVEY Gayoso is signing with Muangthong United in Thailand after playing for the Azkals U-22 in the 2020 Philippines Football League. The Azkals Development Team announced the move. ADT coach Scott Cooper said the 23-year-old Gayoso, a two-time UAAP MVP with Ateneo, will leave for Thailand next week to formalize the deal. Muangthong United won the T1, Thailand's Division 1 football league, four times, but finished fifth last year and is currently in ninth in the league table of the 2020-2021 season. www.spin.ph/football/jarvey-gayoso-signing-with-thai-football-club-muangthong-united-a795-20201205?ref=home_feed_1

"I think it's a great step for him to go to the Thai League," said Coach Scott Cooper, who prior to accepting the role to take over the coaching job for the Azkals program was Muangthong's chief tactician. "It's really a good challenge for him because he has to step up a few levels." Gayoso is set to fly to Bangkok next week to sign what would be his first professional contract to join a growing number of current and former Philippine team players plying their trades in T1. www.dugout.ph/2020/12/jarvey-gayoso-heading-to-muangthong.html

Saw a tweet of someone saying that there might be some hiccups regarding this move esp on the side of Muangthong United FC. I hope it will be sorted out soon.

Gayoso represented the Philippines in the 29th and 30th Southeast Asian Games at the U23 level and was a member of the Suzuki Cup in 2018. “I’ve been given a taste of it being able to play with the team in the Suzuki Cup last 2018, but it’s a whole different story now because I’m actually part of the lineup,” said the 24-year-old Gayoso. Gayoso also pointed out, “Just to add on to what Mark was saying, we’re definitely the next generation of athletes who are going to represent the country. So they want to leave every single experience that they’ve had, everything that they’ve learned to us, because we’ll eventually in the position of just like Kuya Schrocky or Kuya Angel, who are going to be helping out the new generation of athletes coming to the Azkals.” Gayoso added, “We’ve talked to each other in the team, and no matter what, we understand that we are representing our families. We are representing the blood that runs through our veins. That will push us towards whatever obstacle we may experience throughout this. “But we know that we are gonna be ready once the whistle blows; that we are gonna fight for the country and give everything for the flag.” tiebreakertimes.com.ph/tbt/new-boys-gayoso-winhoffer-out-to-make-azkals-vets-proud-come-fifa-wcq/209944
