Is this an under 23 tourny or a club tourny? There seems to be conflicting reports all over the place

You got that right! Conflicting reports all over the place. Does it have different names for the age groups and the mens category? So far its the PFF U23 Suzuki Cup, and then the PFF Smart Club Championship for the mens category.
For me its seems its just like the old PFF National Open Championship, where the FAs sent a team composed of the best players, only difference is they added a sponsors name. For example San Beda with the Younghusband brothers represent Rizal FA because San Beda has campus in Rizal. The players call their team for Smart San Beda FC, while media reports that its Rizal FA when the tournaments name is PFF Smart Club Championship.
I also wonder how the rules are. Before, players like Caligdong could play for NCR FA in the qualifiers, and then switch to Iloilo FA in the finals.

Anymore updates on a premier league? We are in desperate need of one. Right now, no matter how popular or good the Azkals are, it's as if we have a glass ceiling. We see where we can be but the lack of a league is preventing us from achieving it.

This is what I was looking for. Good to know that there are plans to establish a Philippine Premier League. I think it is a must for the development of the sport in our country. Anyone, where are they at in setting up this league?

Did MVP pledge P80 Million every year for 10 years or spread out throughout the 10 years? Same thing with Air21's P20 million?

Did the PFF already prepared a feasibility studies/or other studies in paper about the Football system in this country since 1907? Btw before we establish a national league lets start first in developing a Regional leagues as a trial phase. After this lets say after 2 seasons its time to organize the national league which will be the Top flight of the Philippine football.. The top clubs of each regions will be the promoted to the national league..so if we have 13 regions (correct me if i'm wrong) we have 13 clubs + the other considerations such as NCR old clubs etc.. = 16, 18 or 20 clubs will participate. Then the relegation the last 3 clubs with lowest points after the season will be relegated to there respected areas eg. Luzon visayas & mindanao.. and playoffs for each areas will determine who will be promoted to the top flight. Infrastructure if we notice each provinces has its own sport complex a track & field oval, football field which we used during Palaro time..If the club owners/ football associations negotiate with the LGU's to use this as there stadium in return of maintenance & improvement or even percentage of gate receipts.so there is no need to build an new stadiums for each participating clubs/FA's. Its just an idea..I am hoping in the next 5 years we already develop this football league in our country. Football is a billion pesos opportunity for 100m population.. its like spratlys islands where oil reserves is just waiting to be explore.

manila premier league muna siguro. Mahirap kasi mag base ng mga football clubs outside that can compete with metro manila clubs, alam naman natin na kaya may mga liga na nag fold (like the MBA) kasi sa transport costs. Better if there will be a league for LUZ VIZ MIN and MANILA and the 4 champs will compete for the national crown.

Guys Id like to throw in my 2 cents into the discussion. To have a REAL professional soccer league, we have to have player SALARY, after all this is the MAIN reason a kid would want to play soccer AFTER his college playing days are through right? These player cant or wont last as players if all they get is "baon" per match or something of that sort.
I propose: 1) a player salary structure with a minimum and maximum salary amount. Say minimum of 15k per season and max of 25k( like US sports a max salary option is a way of making team parity, meaning if Im an owner who's worth 50million and you're a team owner who's worth 15million, I cannot outbid you for a players service, the player will go to a team he wants to go to, not who's got the most money). 2) a maximum of players of say 18(to keep cost down). 3) no foreign players yet, unless they currently reside in the PI and can be with the team the whole season(develop local players, keep cost down, working permit etc). 4) with support of national and local government(for stadium upkeep, security etc) 5) local coaches (to develop local coaches but doesnt mean they cant be foreign trained) 6) televised and radio coverage (for those who dont know, the majority of revenue is generated through mass media more than actual gate receipts, dont believe me? watch non play off PBA games. The same is true with US sports) 7) must have a non partisan commisioner(to uphold the by laws of the league) who will punish teams who cheat 8) The more the teams are COMMERCIALIZED, the better. A true SUCCESSFUL professional league will be driven by commercial sponsor (read: Meralco, Smart, PAL, Cebu Pacific etc etc). Dont believe me? Check jerseys of professional soccer teams EVERYWHERE: Bwin, Samsung etc etc. 9) Player lottery yearly(like NBA, NFL etc)
Ive got more ideas, mostly patterned on US sport organizations, Im sure you have 1 too. Its just an idea, dont take it personal, I'td be better if you tell us YOUR idea too.
Also please remember, we are starting from the bottom so lets not compare ourselves to other countries pro league. GO AZKALS!!

I don't agree with #9, like a draft back in the states, nah, I better create my players in an academy rather than to universities.

When I was brainstorming for this, I specifically thought of the least cost hence no academy, just straight from HS or college/Uni or walkon applicant. Anyway, yours is a great idea too.

Will the UFL become nationwide? Or will it form into a super league (premier league)? IMO, if it does not happen, I think the UFL will lose interest quickly.
