His name has been mentioned in the Philippine Daily Inquirer article. Name: Michael Falkesgaard Position: Goalkeeper Date of birth (age): 09/04/1991 (19) Country: Denmark Club: Brøndby ( DEN) MANILA---The Philippine football team has widened its player pool for the AFC Challenge Cup group stage qualifying with the inclusion of foreign-based players and those taken from the tryouts that German coach Hans Michael Weiss conducted last month. Among the additions in the 48-player list that will be submitted by the Philippine Football Federation to the AFC are Filipino-Danish goalkeeper Michael Falkesgaard, Filipino-Germans Patrick Reichelt and Manuel Ott and Filipino-Scottish James Hall. Falkesgaard, 19, is a goalkeeper currently playing for Brondby in the Danish second division.
He has represented Denmark in the Under-19 and Under-20 levels, but Azkals team manager Dan Palami is still inviting the 6-foot-3 Falkesgaard to join the national team since the International Football Federation (Fifa) allows players to switch countries at any level.
Palami learned about Falkesgaard from Filipino-Danish players Dennis Cagara and Jerry Lucena, who are also expected to see action for the Azkals if they make it to the group stage qualifying in Bangladesh.Reichelt, who stands 5-foot-10 and can play striker or winger, is attached with Energie Cottbus II in the German fourth division, while Hall signed a one-year deal with the English Premiere League club in 2007. Hall, 21, has long been in the Azkals’ wish list but injuries and his commitment with Everton before prevented him from suiting up for the Azkals. He, along with younger brother Ryan, was in Bacolod to watch the Azkals beat Mongolia, 2-0. The 18-year-old Ott, who plays for FC Ingolstad, started in the three games for the Azkals in the AFF Suzuki Cup qualifying event in Vientiane, Laos last year. Palami is still hoping that Filipino-German rightback Stephan Schrock, who plays for Greuther Furth, will be able to beef up the squad if it makes it to Bangladesh.

Interesting. Wonder if he'll have the skills to top Neil for the #1 shirt.

Like Jerry Lucena and Dennis Cagara is also Brøndbys 20-year-old third goalkeeper Michael Falkesgaard current to the Philippine national team. Both 30-year-old Jerry Lucena and 26-year-old Dennis Cagara has been offered a place in the Philippine national team and is current as both through their father has Filipino roots. But a third Danish-Filipino contingent. Brøndbys 20-year-old third goalkeeper Michael Falkesgaard is like the other two started to investigate the possibility of obtaining dual citizenship and thus possibly represent the Philippines. - I was born in Denmark but has a Filipino mother, so I have been contacted by the Philippine federation wants me to get out there in a tournament in March. So far I am part of a 48 man squad and then we will see what happens, "says Falkesgaard to bold.dk and continues: - I feel most Danish and has thus far played for both the U18, U19 and U20 State teams. As a very young man was all I dreamed of playing for Denmark, but here it is an opportunity arose and it is something I ponder. Philippines is my second homeland, and I try to visit my family out there as soon as football allows. The young keeper recognizes that it is a very hard choice, but he might not need to take it right away. - If I play for their A-team, I of course locked, but it may be that I can help the Philippines and see it all the way, but not play. On the way are my options after all, still open, and I have talked to them about out there, so maybe I do it that way, says Falkesgaard. The Philippines has a list with a total of 33 players, all born in other countries, but is present due to their Filipino roots. The Danish trio is among the few who play at relatively high levels. www.bold.dk/nyt/Filippinerne-lokker-BIF-keeper

Neil Etheridge has been loaned to Charlton. He won't make it to Myanmar. We need an alternate keeper folks. It is time to call up Muller or persuade Falkesgaard to join the team.

Acc. to Paul Weiler's website, Michael Falkesgaard, a reserve goalkeeper for the Danish Superliga side Brondby is apparently coming to Manila at some point:
"Michael Falkesgaard from danish 1st divison Superliga top club Bröndby IF is read yto help the Azkals in relation goalkeeper position!
Coach Michael Weiss said: "He can come.. also his passport issue is cleared.. he can be an important help for the Azkals .. we expect him very soon in Manila!" _____________________ If this is true, we finally found our backup goalkeeper and won't be as vulnerable to injury or unavailability to Neil Etheridge, which is one of my concerns although from the interview above, it doesn't sound like he is fully committed yet.
Like Dennis Cagara, it would be tough for him to get on the Danish national team anyways, so he is probably exploring his options with the Azkals.

Acc. to PFSA "Michael Falkesgaard ( Broendby IF ) will join the team for sure on June 19 in Duren Germany".
Even if he does, he won't have time to process his papers(Fifa switch and passport) for the Sri Lanka game so he will most likely be considered for the U-23 team in July if it is not cancelled or the 2nd rd WC qualifying game against Kuwait as a backup to Etheridge.

Michael just got an extension to his contract, he is now signed up until 2015. He is now Brøndby IF's permanent 2nd choice goal keeper. He has not played in a league(Superliga) match but has played in a Cup match. They lost 0-3 but he apparently played well hence his long contract extension. So if NE isn't going to be at the CC and Roland isn't going to be released(he is starting gk for an Oberliga team, same level as Patrick Reichelt) how about calling this kid up(though I'm sure Weiss has remembered him already). WHAT THEY HAVE TO SAY:Have the skills and mentality to perform Sports chief Ole Bjur says: - We are very happy and satisfied with the agreement with Falk (Michael Falkesgaard, ed.) That we consider to be a talented and promising goalkeeper. - Besides the purely technical goalie, where Falk is really strong, he has also an unusually quiet in his game and a great mental strength for such a young player. - It makes us believe in him now and that we are not afraid to bring him into play in Superliga team if need be. We saw in the cup match against FCK that he has the skills and mentality to perform at a high level. Even Michael Falkesgaard also glad for the early Christmas gift in the form of a new contract: - I am first and foremost incredibly proud to be the Phillies play at least the next three and a half years. I look forward to work out during January and Hoffman Auri and develop my skills even more with their help. - It is my goal to compete with Tørnes and eventually when the time comes, be the first goalie to Brøndby IF - of course it's my big dream, concludes Michael Falkesgaard.

If he is available, why not. We need a good reliable pool of GKs. Pascual just got hurt. Ed is getting there in age. He's a nice fallback option.

Profile Description in Brondby's website: Tall, strong technical goalie with good reaction skills on the line. Falkesgaard moved in autumn 2011 up to the second goalkeeper after Michael Tørnes and got some great battles on the reserve team. in blue.. bigger version brondby.com/upload/biffile0_ny6ue5z1or1ooqq2098u_68691.jpg

Although we are abundant with goalkeepers, this guy is a really good prospect having had some minutes in the Europa League but currently 2nd in line in his team which is 3rd or 4th in the Top tier of denmark, the Danish Superliga

Coach Thomas Dooley admitted that he was delighted about Stephan Schrock returning to the squad after the midfielder took a much-publicized break from international duty. The dynamic midfielder last saw action for the Azkals in the 1-0 defeat to Palestine in the 2014 AFC Challenge Cup Final. Schrock had a falling out with Dooley after that and the conflict ballooned when Schrock came out with statements against Dooley in the German press. However, a couple of months ago, news came out that Schrock had a change of heart. He decided to contact team manager Dan Palami to inform Dooley that he wanted to talk to the coach. “He apologized for what he did and said that he was wrong,” recalled Dooley, who added, “If you cannot deal with the coaches decision you should change your sport.” “Football is about the decision of the coach. If you cannot accept it, you’re cannot be a part of the team.” continued the American coach. Dooley took note of the importance of the apology and that paved the way for Schrock to return to the squad. “I don’t have a problem with (Schrock returning), he’s back because he apologized,” said Dooley. “He knew he made a mistake.” With Neil Etheridge and Javier Patino also included in the squad, Dooley hopes that the two players will deliver what he knows they are capable of. “Neil went from 100-0,” Dooley said about Etheridge, who has had a rocky football season. “Maybe now 0-100,” shrugged Dooley. “(I told him) If you do a good job and put your focus on it then you’ll be the starter. But if you blow like last time, you’ll be out. But I know he won’t, he sees it as an opportunity to get the number one spot (back).” “Javier feels like a new player (to me),” said Dooley on Patiño. The striker arrived on Thursday night to join the team. Patiño played for the Azkals under Dooley just one time, a half against Azerbaijan during a camp last year. The Azkals mentor also indicated that as a coach, he needs to “tell to the players that (their selection) is about their form.” “Only 11 players can play and if we have 1 in the 23 who goes sideways, he’s out,” remarked Dooley. “It’s a steep climb for everyone. If one doesn’t want to join the climb, he can’t be a part of the team.” After clarifying that the list of 23 players is only for the first two matches of the World Cup Qualifiers, Dooley also said that it is possible to add — and drop — players for the last two matches of the Round. “If someone great comes to the team, like if Alphonse Areola* decides to join us, or Michael Falkesgaard**, then of course we’ll take them,” Dooley said, further emphasising that he wants the best possible squad to represent the Philippines. “If we have problems with any of the positions, we can change players as much as we want (after the Yemen match).” — CAL *Alphonse Areola was the goalkeeper for France’s Under 20 team that won the Under 20 World Cup in 2013. Areola was born to Filipino parents in France. **Michael Falkesgaard is a goalkeeper who plays in Denmark for Brønby. The 24-year-old was born in Denmark to a Filipino mother. - See more at: football.com.ph/one-year-after-reconciliation-according-to-thomas-dooley/#sthash.Wv9RKiLH.dpuf
