Very surprising hexagonal. Panama and Costa Rica leading the pack and Mexico now in 5th place after 3 rounds, one of only 2 teams without a win yet.

It is still a long way to go. Plenty of time for the favorites to assert themselves. Quality will eventually win out.

I'm not worried about qualifying, we will, I'm worried about De La Torre's stubborness and bad tactics.

mprpmosh,
I just wanted to mention that the US press has been hailing the US Mexico draw as a victory for the US considering that the US rarely ever leaves the Azteca with a result in the past WC qualifiers. As for the other teams, it would be interesting to see if they can carry on their success in the hexagonal to the Gold Cup.

Landon Donovan has returned from his self imposed sabbatical from football and says he is eager to join the US national team again. He will be eased into the LA Galaxy rotation, but is hoping to make the hexagonal qualifiers by June, if the US coaching staff decides to consider him for the team. sports.yahoo.com/news/donovan-goal-back-us-soccer-162658229--sow.html

Nobody in the US press said it was a victory (this is like the America wins in draw vs. England crap in the WC). They said it's an amazing result to have a draw considering our record in La Azteca, but it's not a victory for us lol. I bet you that's what the Mexican press thinks of us though.... Too bad the game was extremely boring. I was expecting more Mexico dominance considering it's their home stadium, but Salcido at DM will never work IMO. Orozco's goal in the last match was epic though.

^^ The Mexican press didn't even care about the USMNT, they, as us, fans, focused on the bad tactics of De La Torre and the lack of creativity in the attack.

I would say the CONCACAF Cup is becoming more well known in the Asia-Pacific, but certainly isn't as watched as much as other club tournaments.

To be honest, if I wasn't Mexican I wouldn't watch it. Most Mexicans don't even care BTW, even when their club is in it.

I honestly don't know what's going on with de la Torre's team...... I mean, where's Fabian <_<. I haven't watched a Liga MX game, but when I watched him play in the Olympics and vs. European teams, he was definitely a star. And stop playing Salcido in the Busquets role.......

^^ Marco Fabian is practically injuried 24/7.
But definitely De La Torre is getting to stubborn with a formation that is not working, with bad selections and even worse, putting 'em on the wrong positions... we've been just drawing this year and playing pretty bored football, he needs to get his sh*t together soon.

What has been happening to Mexico? They just lost to Panama and therefore will not make the finals of the Gold Cup. They also are having trouble winning in WC qualifying and are only a point or 2 ahead of Panama and Honduras in the standings with the US and Costa Rica leading the pack.
The US on the other hand has been dominating the Gold cup with 19 goals in just 6 games as well as being in 1st place in the hexagonal WC qualifying. Donovan is back in form and showing why he is the most dangerous player in Concacaf when he puts his mind to it.
Fil Am Nick Rimando ably filled the starting goalkeeper slot for the US in this tournament in the absence of Tim Howard and now has a 5-0-0 record in 2013 for the US.

It's Chepo de la Torre that's failing them, and it's obvious. He's smart enough to know what's wrong, but he just doesn't have a solution to the problem. Also, he refuses to use one of his solutions (Vela). Though personally, I think the current Mexican style of play is very arrogant, especially since the team doesn't seem to change from losses and ties. You guys should've kept Javier Aguirre..... Now Mexico's in a position 1 year before the world cup, and they're forced to change managers when it was obvious it should've been done last year.
Compare them to the US. Mexico probably has better football-minded players (especially in terms of culture), but US's current system is infinitely miles better than Chepo's Mexico. Klinsmann turned his team on its head, changing how the US play within a year. They used to win scrappy games, but they're now playing the correct(!) football. It's great to see my country actually win games the real way instead of lucky/boring/ok games. It really gives me goosebumps watching them play now, when I'd often fall asleep watching them outside the WC. Klinsmann was almost out the door last year, too, and he's top of the world now. Truly a pioneer for US football, and he's not even American!
Also, I didn't know Rimando was Pinoy.......
