Getting rumours that Kaya might let him play as a substitute, at the earliest in their matchup against Stallion FC later this month! He's just waiting for his doctor's clearance!
Getting excited and fingers crossed!

After such a long recovery period, he is going to be like Chieffy, not quite himself for a long time. Hopefully he can be ready by the Suzuki Cup. If/when Juani & Gier leaves, we definitely need him to be at his best.

Aly joining Azkals soonBy Peter Atencio | Posted on July 07, 2012 | 12:01am | 0 Comments Team skipper Aly Borromeo is getting ready to see action for the Philippine Azkals national football team preparing for the 2012 Asean Football Federation-Suzuki Cup this November. The 29-year-old Borromeo, who just recovered from an anterior cruciate ligament injury he suffered on his right knee six months ago, discussed his decision to rejoin the team yesterday. “I’m getting stronger everyday. I’m looking forward to the preparations in the United States,” said Borromeo during a press conference organized by Suzuki Philippines for the Philippine Football Federation office in Pasig City. Borromeo, who plays center defender for the Azkals, was able to get back into action three weeks ago, with his first game with Kaya in the United Football League lasting only 20 minutes. The 6’2” Borromeo was with co-captain Chieffy Caligdong and Ian Araneta when Suzuki Philippines president Satoshi Uchida announced the Azkals’ participation in the biennial football tournament, with PFF officials led by its president Mariano Araneta Jr. and secretary general Rolando Tulay. manilastandardtoday.com/www2/2012/07/07/aly-joining-azkals-soon/

He will join the team in the US Borromeo fully healed, rarin' to play for AzkalsBy Olmin Leyba (The Philippine Star) Updated July 08, 2012 12:00 AM Comments (0) View comments Manila, Philippines - Azkals skipper Aly Borromeo is eager to suit up for the Philippine men’s football team again after getting sidelined by an ACL injury on his right knee since October last year. In sickbay when the Azkals copped a breakthrough bronze in the AFC Challenge Cup and figured in a slew of international friendlies this year, a fully recovered Borromeo is set play his first outing in an Azkals uniform in their coming training camp in the US. “I’m okay now, everything’s going well and I’m looking forward to our preparations in the US, where we play three teams, including two from MLS (Major League Soccer),” said the veteran defender. Borromeo’s last appearance for Phl XI was against Nepal in a friendly at Rizal on October 11, 2011. Weeks later, he tore his ACL while playing for Kaya FC in the United Football League (UFL), an injury that required surgery and six months of rehab. “I’ll be playing in the States; that’s our arrangement with coach (Michael) Weiss. He will slowly infuse me into the team, starting in the US (trip),” he said of the camp that kicks off the Azkals’ buildup for the Nov. 24-Dec. 22 AFF Suzuki Cup in Malaysia and Thailand. Borromeo’s co-skipper, Chieffy Caligdong, meanwhile, may be making his swan song in the Suzuki Cup. Caligdong recently asked for his discharge from Air Force in anticipation of his family’s possible migration to the US but stressed he will decide on his next career move right after the Suzuki Cup campaign. “Wala pa akong sinasabi na hindi na ako maglalaro sa national team. Hangga’t nandito ako sa Pilipinas, I’ll continue to play for the Azkals,” he stressed. “Meron akong Plan A, Plan B at Plan C pero sasabihin ko desisyon ko after Suzuki Cup. Focus muna ako sa games sa Long Teng Cup at Suzuki Cup (I’ll make a decision only after Suzuki Cup. In the meantime, I’ll focus on the coming tourneys),” he added. After half a year of absence, Borromeo actually began playing again for Kaya in the UFL last May 12 to slowly get back in the groove. “It’s good getting the game fitness back, the game sharpness back. I’ve been out of the game for six months so it’s important to slowly feel my way back in. At first I played 20 minutes, another 20 minutes, then I got to play full 90 minutes already,” he said. The US trip set later this month sets in motion the Azkals’ preparations for the ASEAN meet. “The Suzuki Cup 2012 is really special not just for us but for the country because this is where it all began,” said Borromeo. The Azkals shot to prominence in the previous edition in 2010 when they made an unexpected stint in the semifinals. Along the way, they claimed the scalp of 2008 champs Vietnam, 2-0, in what’s been hailed as the “Upset of the Year.” www.philstar.com/sportsarticle.aspx?articleid=825337&publicationsubcategoryid=69

Skipper Borromeo eyes Azkals returnBy Cedelf P. Tupas Philippine Daily Inquirer 3:47 am | Sunday, August 19th, 2012 CHICAGO—Sidelined from international football for the past 10 months, national team co-skipper Aly Borromeo is hoping for a comeback next month when the country holds the four-nation Paulino Alcantara Cup at Panaad Stadium in Bacolod City. The central defender who has been a key figure for the national side the past eight years is working doubly hard here in the Azkals’ two-week training camp to hasten his recovery from a strained knee which he sustained at the tail end of the United Football League season. “It’s devastating to be out and to be watching the game from the sidelines,” said Borromeo, whose last game for the Azkals was last Oct. 7 when they beat Nepal, 4-0, at Rizal Memorial Stadium. The injury sidelined Borromeo from the AFC Challenge Cup in Nepal in March. He was also rested during the series of friendly matches against Indonesia and Malaysia last June. Borromeo, who underwent surgery after tearing his Anterior Cruciate Ligament in October last year, actually returned to action in May and June for his United Football League club Kaya, helping them salvage second place. “I kind of got too overeager to play right away towards the end of the UFL season so I got this minor setback,” said Borromeo. “I just have to be sure on my recovery and looking towards longevity in my career.” Team manager Dan Palami said Borromeo’s return will be a boost to the squad which is looking for options on defense. In fact, the Azkals had to convert defensive midfielder Jason de Jong to centerback in the 1-3 loss to the Chicago Inferno last Saturday in a test match. Azkals coach Michael Weiss said he won’t be forcing Borromeo to return prematurely, but said the 29-year-old is still part of his plans particularly for the Suzuki Cup. sports.inquirer.net/58880/skipper-borromeo-eyes-azkals-return

This is what he posted on Instagram around 2 weeks ago. He's been saying that he had another surgery for his torn meniscus on his right knee he got during the US training camp last year. (its ACL also torn on October 2011) He's been saying that he wants to be fit by the end of the year. But that's still a "maybe" in my book.
