Now this reminds me of the time where half the forum went crazy over Jason Sabio's ex. (Should we have a WaG thread now?)

While Rota’s goal—a thunderous half volley inside the penalty area—put the Azkals on their way to victory, his journey back to the country where he was born is every bit as compelling. An orphan, Rota was adopted by a taxi-driving Italian couple Maurizio and Marilena Rota. A longing to see and experience life in the Philippines convinced Rota to come home early this year. It also did not hurt that he had the chance to continue playing football in Manila, after stints in the lower leagues in Italy as well as in Switzerland. Rota’s goal reverberated in the Philippines because of its importance to the Azkals’ bid. But perhaps the loudest cheers Thursday night would be in the Buklod Kalinga in Parañaque, which has served as the player’s home since he arrived in Manila. The civic work that Buklod conducts takes much of Rota’s time. A regular day for Rota would usually start at 4 a.m. when he helps prepare food for the children who benefit from the outreach program of Buklod, before training with his United Football League club, Stallion. Rota said he’s dedicating the goal to his family, as well as the kids of Buklod Kalinga. Rota considers Sister May Memorial, who runs Buklod, as his mother in the Philippines. “It’s for my father and my mother, sister and Sister May and the kids there,” said Rota. The guy really has a good heart. That is why it is hard not to root for him. I wonder what would be the best way to donate funds to his orphanage.

Just wanna set the record straight re: Simone Rota The story begins like so. An Usapangfootball member contacted me about Simone, he said Simone needs help to contact the UFL so I contacted SR and began our talks. Rota btw doesn't read or speak much English so we were each using the translator as we communicated. I "shopped" him around some of the UFL teams who knew who I was, 1 or 2 PFF connected folks and a U23 member who I knew(from social media) who could possibly expedite his Azkal career. Anyway, as some of you may have seen Coach Nierras' tweet, I contacted his son to introduce SR. They talked and he flew to the PI Jan 3 this year, the rest is history. First off, I think we all should take credit for bringing the guy into the UFL and NT. Usapangfootball not just talks football but we help local and National Team too by bringing in new talents for real, so we should be proud of this! Lastly, the Usapangfootball member who put me in contact with SR is @afinitis on twitter though his name on here I cannot remember. PS: More UFL/Azkal hopeful to come soon... maybe...

Azkals' Simone Rota Searching for Biological ParentsDyan Castillejo, ABS-CBN News Posted at 02/18/16 1:33 AM Philippine Azkal Simone Rota proudly introduced his special visitor from Italy, the 90-year-old nun Mother Flora Zippo. Mother Flora is a missionary from Franciscan Sister of the Sacred Heart. She first visited the Philippines in 1977 and set up a convent in Better Living, Paranaque City. It was because of Mother Flora that the baby Simone was able to move to Italy where he was adopted by an Italian couple. "She is one of the most important woman in my life... it's because of her that I got my family and I was adopted," said Simone. Mother Flora said a woman named Sonia Tulay left Simone in the convent when the player was still two months old in November 1984. In 1985, Simone and another baby girl were adopted by Italian couple Maurizio and Marilena Rota. They lived in Milan, Italy. When Simore turned 29, he returned to the Philippines to join the United Football League and play for the Philippine Azkals. Simone said he lived a happy life in Italy, but always wanted to return to the Philippines. Not taking anything away fron Rota as he is are top RB but i think with his age he already reached his peak that maybe one of the reason why he returned to Phils to seek a different path to his career and also some personal issues to settle. Hartmann Sato and OJ are more realistic as they are young promising talents with still alot of room for improvement.

kroner i got my chismis straight from someone special to him and mukang may offer na sa table INDONISIA but still thinking kasi magulo ang federation nila at kakagalng lng nang injury.. ps i dont pay for my tickets and jerseys If it's Indonesia, then it's better for him to stay in the UFL. Yes Indonesian league is better fan base wise but that's just it, the level of play is just about the same in the UFL I think. And if he wants more international exposure, then he won't get it in Indonesia. Might as well try it out in S. League or Thai League or even in Malaysia, but please not Indonesia. Remember a few years back, we were thankful that the Younghusband brothers did not accept the offer from Indonesia because few months after, the national players from that league was banned from joining national teams for playing in that "illegal league." But that's just me. As a fan, we'll still be supporting him wherever he's happy.
