They don't sustain their chants/cheers for the whole match Basically this. People at the white bleachers noticed this during the Bacolod Guam match and were shouting, "waay na, naghinay na! kapoy na sila!" The key is to not be self-conscious, not to look discouraged. Keep shouting, keep chanting, eventually the fans will feed on the effort and energy.

I like the Ultras Filipinas too, they just need to organize and ditch the masks. There's no need to hide, guys! RMS is our home! They strike me as fans who are just glad to be there witnessing the national team play, regardless of their performance . With that philosophy they never have a reason to stop cheering. I like the Kaholeros too but it's hard not to notice the Ultras Filipinas. Maybe it's because they're unofficial?

Might as well bump this up: Taken from Bob Guerrero's Yahoo! PH piece (Link -> ph.sports.yahoo.com/blogs/thepassionatefan/bahadoran-shines-global-knocks-kaya-ufl-cup-extra-160642711.html) A note on the Ultras Kaya and their poor behavior that night. I have long admired the Kaya cheering squad, the Ultras Kaya for their energy, dedication and organization. They are the most enthusiastic cheering squad in the UFL. In fact just a few days ago I replied to a Tweet that praised them as the league's best.
But a lot of that respect went out the window on Tuesday.
Several of their supporters were repeatedly flashing dirty fingers at the Global side of the grandstand. Some also appeared to make loud and aggressive chants towards Global fans. At one point I could have sworn I heard them chanting "beat the wankers" at the direction of the Global supporters.
After the game they lit fireworks, which are illegal according to League rules, and UFL Match Coordinator Ritchie Gannaban tried to get them to extinguish them. According to Gannaban, the Ultras refused to put out the flames and some even taunted him. Says Gannaban "there are good fans and bad fans, and these are examples of bad fans. The bottom line is you have to respect everyone."
I'm with Gannaban here. I thought the Ultras Kaya behaved in puerile, reckless, and provocative manner. Thankfully the Global fans largely ignored the Ultras Kaya's heckling.
Do we want the UFL to be like some European leagues where opposing fans need to be kept apart by policemen and rows of buffer seats? I would hope not. Fan violence has killed hundreds, maybe even thousands in the history of Football, and the league is correct to nip this nonsense in the bud before it gets out of hand. The UFL should always be a place that is safe to bring kids. This stuff makes that difficult.
A cheering squad's function is to cheer on and motivate its team's players, not insult its opponents and their fans.
In my opinion the Ultras Kaya need a mature and clear-minded leader who will control their baser urges. Their conduct that night cannot possibly reflect the values and sportsmanship that Kaya Football Club represents, and I hope they clean up their act in future games.
I know some of the Ultras Kaya are in here. You have your opportunity to respond.

Ultras' job is also to intimidate and taunt the opponents, aside from cheering of course. When I was in Malaysia, while watching an MSL match, the ultras there arranges tifos, sing loud chants that intimidates the opposing team and/or cheer up the home team and of course, they stay on their sections where they belong. I believe Ultras Kaya is just showing their love and support for Kaya FC and I believe they never wanted to start a fight with the other supporters... They're just intimidating them. Bad fans or hooligans are the one who starts riots, recites racist chants and so on...

darksephir you are true! BUT to lit fireworks which is illegal, flashing dirty fingers and chanting "beat the wankers" are not included in your definition. opponents is different from opponents' supporters.

I'm with Bob, though I didn't witness what happened. This Philippine football revival is in its infancy and we have the opportunity to rise above the mistakes of fandom abroad. Sure, Ultras have to be passionate. But they also have the opportunity to be respectful and be a great example to the world. One of the glowing comments from BBC guests covering the Philippines-Mongolia match in Bacolod was how much they admired Philippine fans in the stands. Applauding the Mongolia team after the match caught their eye. Had it been England or even Indonesia, it would be a different story. Right now everyone should just be rejoicing that we even have football games to cheer in. Negative stuff like that will just be another roadblock for foreign teams to come in for friendlies. Most of all, I want to bring my kids to matches. But I won't if stuff like this keeps up.

Ok intimidate the opponents players or fans BUT when you "intimidate" someone, there are a few things they could do: Shrink away, ignore you OR lash out and take the challenge! What if a group of men/fans refuse to be intimidated and gets into YOUR face? What do you think will happen? Will you shrink away? Ignore them? or FIGHT BACK?
This is bull, these "ultras" are copying the "bad' habits of the soccer hooligan, nothing more nothing less. Stop it now! If you want to intimidate join a street gang and fight it out on the streets not the soccer stand.
We have a chance here to be different than other countries by moving away from this type of fandom, We do not have to copy the "bad" part of soccer, lets take the high road. Plus, who are you "intimidating" in the stands anyway? Fan girls, families, kids. You wanna fight? Find a gang to fight against, outside the stadium!
Take the high road...

It has been 24 hours. I am still waiting for their response.
While waiting, here are tweets from UFL Asst. Technical Director and Acting Tournament Director Ritchie Gannaban.
In hindsight, one of them was actually trying to poke the firework at my face. Yup! I asked them to put off the fireworks. They just sneered at me. I had to go up to them thinking that they must not have heard me. They were defiant so I had to forcibly take the fireworks away from them. As I was doing so, one of them tried to fry me with the fireworks. After I put out their fireworks, I saw their stash and took that away too. Then they started to jeer at me and taunt me. One of them even said, "Bawal? Nasa rules ba? Pakita mo!"

Limpag: No need for Azkals fans to compete By Mike T. Limpag Fair Play Wednesday, November 7, 2012 IT seems there’s a brewing friction among some of the football fans—Kaholeros and Ultras—as to which group is better. And I always find that funny. Every time I hear someone brag how one group, especially those who claim to be hardcore, is the better one because of this and that, I always smirk and think, “Where the hell were you when the men’s team, and Philippine football, needed saving from the PFF?” This competition, interestingly, may be rooted in the UFL—one group is identified with Kaya and the other with Global. So, who’s the better group? No one, actually. The only one who can claim to be the ultimate fan of Philippine football is the crazy dude who ran on the rubber tracks at the Panaad Park and Stadium during the game against Mongolia on Feb. 9, 2011. Those who travel with the team, too, pre-2010 Suzuki Cup success and during the “home game” against Merah Putih in Indonesia, can have a claim to that but if you notice, they aren’t bragging about it. Why? Because perhaps, like me, they think it’s a stupid competition. So, let’s put the end to this competition, shall we? To each group its own. Leave the other be. And what could be better? An end to this distinction. So, for the friendly against Singapore at the Cebu City Sports Center, I urge those who lead the Ultras and the Kaholeros to work together. Even better, if you all could be in one area together and show us how crazy you guys can get. Who are the better fans? The Ultras or the Kaholeros? Neither. It’s the group who can work together. Now, is that you? UNSUNG HEROES. Whatever happens in the Nov. 15 game, I hope the CFA and the PFF will take a moment to honor the guys who worked on the field. I saw the field last Tuesday and it was way better than the last time Dan Palami and Michael Weiss inspected it. And we have guys like Engr. Rodney Orale, Raffy and Dino Musni and the hardworking guys from Cebu Country Club and Alta Vista Golf and Country Club to thank. Last Tuesday, at exactly noon, while it was so darn hot and everybody was scampering for the shade, there they were, on the field, overseeing another round of mowing. I’ve heard that for the past weeks, they’ve been checking on the field every day. The CCSC, because of the quality of its grass, may not match the Theater of Dreams but these guys are making sure it’s going to be the best it will ever be.
