www.the-afc.com/en/member-association-news/asean-news/35105-fifa-lift-brunei-suspensionFIFA lift Brunei suspension Tuesday, 31 May 2011 11:23 Zurich: The FIFA Executive Committee has lifted the suspension of the football association of Brunei Darussalam (NFABD, formerly BAFA) after ascertaining that the national associations had fulfilled the conditions established by the FIFA Emergency Committee and approved statutes in line with the FIFA Statutes. FIFA suspended the Football Association of Brunei (BAFA) at the Executive Committee meeting in Rio, Brazil back in September 2009 due to government interference in its affairs, which started with a decision by the Brunei authorities to dissolve the BAFA and to replace it with a new association in December 2008.

Last chance for Indonesia Tuesday, 31 May 2011 11:34 Zurich: FIFA has given the normalisation committee of the Indonesian football association (PSSI) until the end of June to organise elections according to the relevant regulations and previous FIFA decisions or risk an automatic suspension on July 1.
On April 1 the FIFA Emergency Committee decided that, in accordance with article 7 paragraph 2 of the FIFA Statutes, a normalisation committee would take over from the current PSSI executive committee.
The mission of the Normalisation Committee was to organise elections based on the FIFA electoral code and PSSI statutes before May 21; to bring the breakaway league under PSSI control or have it stopped as soon as possible; to run the day-to-day activities of PSSI in a spirit of reconciliation for the good of the Indonesian football
The normalisation committee is composed by personalities of the Indonesian football who will not be able to run for any of the PSSI positions and would act as an electoral commission. It confirmed as well the non-eligibility to the Presidency of PSSI of the four candidates who were rejected by the PSSI appeal committee on February 28.
The FIFA Emergency Committee estimated that the current PSSI leadership was not in control of football in Indonesia as proven by the failure to gain control of the breakaway league (Liga Premiere, LPI), which was set up without the involvement of PSSI, or by the fact it could not organise a congress whose sole goals were to adopt an electoral code and elect an electoral commission.
The FIFA Emergency Committee concluded that the PSSI leadership had lost all credibility within Indonesia and was not in a position anymore to lead the process to solve the current crisis.

Indonesia's new PSSI federation chairman's first act is to replace head coach Austrian Alfred Riedl who did a good job leading the team to the final of the AFF Suzuki Cup. He appointed an interim Dutch Coach who coaches in the Indonesian league temporarily until a permanent coach has been installed. Coach Riedl is now threatening to file a complaint with FIFA if his contract's terms are not honored as this article explains: sports.yahoo.com/soccer/news?slug=ap-indonesia-riedlfired

Brunei has included several naturalised citizens in its team. The current national team also consists of foreign-born citizens such as Hammid Alan Virkov from Ukraine; Darul Yuriry from Russia; Boris Nafal from Serbia. Just like Singapore, they have a smaller population base, and needed to do this to be more competitive. I think this is good news as it will raise the level of our region. Now all we need is Timor Leste naturalizing some Brazilians and we will have an exciting AFF championship next season. Of course, when we start being competitive at the asian level, Australia will probably join our competition as well.

SEA GAMES FOOTBALL MOVED FROM PALEMBANG
KUALA LUMPUR (1 August 2011) - The Indonesian FA confirmed that the SEA Games football competition would not be held in Palembang as the venue will not be ready in time for the biennially held multi-sports extravaganza later this year.
“The stadium in will not be ready for the SEA Games so the football tournament will now be held entirely in Jakarta,” newly elected Deputy President, Farid Rahman, informed the ASEAN Football Federation (AFF) Council here yesterday.
As a result of the Jakabaring Stadium being ruled out, the AFF Under-23 Football Championship, which was to serve as a pre-SEA Games warm-up event, has been rescheduled. Originally slated for 16-26 July, the AFF is now trying to identify suitable replacement dates.
Some dates have been proposed, either in late September or mid-October, however there are issues with the availability of the Gelora Bung Karno Stadium where the football competition will be held. According to Farid, the stadium will be undergoing renovation work and will only be ready in late October.
The football competition for the SEA Games is scheduled to start on 7 Nov 2011. The Indonesian FA have been asked to look into the various dates and availability of the stadium and subsequently advise the AFF.

got this from MALAYSIA NATIONAL FOOTBALL TEAM FB PAGE EPL Teams should be barred from Malaysia Posted by: PatrickJB The Star Online: Chelsea gives FAM the blues over booing of Israeli player “KUALA LUMPUR: The Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) has received a letter from English Premier League side Chelsea complaining about the anti-Semitic abuse of Israeli midfielder Yossi Benayoun during their friendly. FAM secretary-general Datuk Azzuddin Ahmad confirmed receiving the letter. “Yes, they faxed us a letter and we will look into their complaint,” Azzuddin said. “We have to first establish who the fans were jeering at. It is not easy to address this issue when the match was played in front of a sell-out crowd.” Azzuddin is right. The fans maybe jeering at something else. A crooked looking ball maybe or even at the national team players who run like ducks. P.S: I suggest that EPL Teams, or any foreign team for that matter, should be barred from playing in Malaysia in the future to avoid unnecessary harassment. blog.thestar.com.my/permalink.asp?id=35950&cat=26--------------------------------------------------------------------- check out this dude suggestion

I was reading in the comments to a bleachers brew article, that these Indo-Dutch players : Jhon Van beukering, Sergio Van Dijk and Stefano lilipaly, are due to receive their passports by the end of the month and that these 2 Nigerians : Greg Nwokolo and Victor Ignonefo from the Indonesian Super League have have also made the list for naturalization. I have heard of the Indo-Dutch players before but I was surprised to hear that they were naturalizing Nigerian players too.

Here is a response to the above news by an Indonesian reader on another forum:
hopefully those 3 indo dutch will get their indonesian passports by the end of this month. Once they get it, John van Beukering (JVB), Sergio Van Dijk (SVD) will join the national team tc for WCQ, while Stefano Lilipaly will join U-23 TC with Indo-German player Kim jeffrey kurniawan and 3 other Indo-Dutch players Ruben Wuarbanaran, Diego Michels, Joey Suk for the SEA GAMES but they will not automatically guaranteed a place in the squad, they have to compete with local players. And as for Greg Nwokolo and Victor Igbonefo their passports are still in process.
And my response:
It is good to finally have all these indo european available for callup but I was surprised to find out that they are also naturalizating those Nigerian players. That might cause friction within the team.
That is why the PFF has an unofficial policy to only include players with a Filipino parent and this has proven to be a good decision, as they have been embraced by the public because of their Filipino roots.
This is important to us as we are still popularizing the sport of football in the country and we are trying to avoid a public relations backlash that might scare potential sponsors away.
We actually have a couple of excellent African players who are dominating our local leagues who have fulfilled the long residency requirement for citizenship, who could have helped our team, but were not invited because of the above policy.
Anyway, hopefully all those reinforcements along with your strong locally based players will make you much more competitive against the tall and physical players from West Asia you will be facing. Good Luck to your WC qualifying campaign.

You guys remember Okto from the Indonesian football team, who gave us a hard time in the last Suzuki Cup. Here is news on him dropping to the 2nd division in Indonesia from Jakarta Casual:
Okta Drops A Division It was only last December that pacy winger Oktavianus Maniani was being talked about as the great new hope of Indonesian football along with Irfan Bachdim. The Sriwijaya winger was a bit of an unknown and thrown against Malaysia and Laos in the AFF Cup he created an immediate impact and, along with Bachdim and Riedl, helped make Indonesian football 'sexy' with the masses.
More critical observers however suggested he was a one trick pony who offered pace but not much else and certainly not guile or subtlety. Point him in the right direction, push a button and off he would go.
Against Thailand and the Philippines however he had been sussed and he was little more than a passenger but then didn't stop some people suggesting a future in Europe beckoned.
It didn't. Sriwijaya were happy enough to let him go and rather than heading west Okta headed in the other direction and, for good measure, dropped a division, signing for Persiram Raja Empat. December's halcyon days have been replaced a cold, hard reality.

Regional U21 champs to be re-organised VietNamNet Bridge – The Southeast Asian Under-21 Football Championship will be re-organised next year, according to the Asian Football Federation (AFF). The event, named the Hassanal Bolkiah Trophy, will be held in Brunei from February 25 to March 5. Plans call for all 11 regional teams to take part in the fourth-edition of the competition which is a warm-up for the Asian championships in July. "The lineup for team Viet Nam will be set early next year to prepare for the tournament. Most players will be selected from the U21 team who won the title at the Thanh Nien newspaper's international championship [early this month]," said Tran Quoc Tuan, general secretary of the Viet Nam Football Federation. The winning team will walk away with US$15,800. Second and third place teams will receive $7,900 and $3,950, respectively. The AFF's U21 event was first kicked off in 2005 and was expected to be organised biannually. It was interrupted when Brunei were banned by FIFA due to ‘government interference' in 2009. At a meeting on Monday, AFF also confirmed that the Under-16 Preparatory Tournament will be hosted by Laos in 2012 in preparation for the final round of the AFC U16 Championship which will begin on September 21. The tournament is purposely tailored for the three most qualified teams from ASEAN – Thailand, Australia and Laos – alongside one invited team from Asia. Teams for the AFF U19 Preparatory Tournament will be announced after the results of the ASEAN qualifiers are known. The final round of the AFC U19 Championship 2012 will be played from November 2-17. The AFF Futsal Championship 2012 will be held sometime in March in Bangkok. The AFF Women's Championship 2012 will be held in Viet Nam in July. english.vietnamnet.vn/en/spor...organised.html

WE WILL MAKE FIFA WORLD CUP IN 2022: DJOHAR
JAKARTA (27 Jan 2012) – Djohar Arifin Husin, the president of the FA of Indonesia (PSSI) has set 2022 as the year in which their national team will qualify for the FIFA World Cup. “At the latest, we will qualify in 2026,” said Djohar to Tempo this week. Djohar said that ten years is enough for them to form a strong team considering the work which has already been done in the grassroots. He said that the PSSI are emulating the way forward with the Dutch model. “We are looking at forming teams from the U16 all the way to the senior national team. And this will also include the men’s and women’s Futsal team and beach football,” he added. Djohar also pointed out that other than having more age-group competitions in the provinces, the PSSI have also contracted Albert Pentury from Holland to look into coaching at the development level. www.aseanfootball.org/?p=7478
