Don’t want to dampen the euphoria surrounding Dan's impossible to achieve goals as sadly there is zero chance for Philippines to reach the 2018 and almost zero chance to reach top 100 anytime soon (2 – 4 years) with the current players and the current setup. You can bring Mourinho and won’t happen as it takes a hell lot more than bringing few European coaches and recruiting new and utilising the existing fil-foreigner players. Dan is doing a fantastic job and he must take a lot of credit for the Azkals progress and popularity but he is going overboard in setting impossible to achieve goals as they may come back and bite him in the end. A poor man says "To see is to believe" while a rich man says "Believe it and you will see!" Unlike climbing the ATP Ranking that relays on 1 or 2 persons and 1 or 2 sponsors climbing the FIFA ranking relies on a well organised Federation hundreds of professionals players playing in a national competition involved and many many sponsors with many many dollars backing them up year in year out which sadly don’t exist in Filipino football at this point in time. Beware!! Grand Slogans often become the subject of jokes when the bubble bursts. My Slogan is “ I hope and pray” that some day……I will say “We Believe” what you say maybe true, and in fact it was never mentioned that the road will be easy, but just the same i believe that it can be achieved. what do we have to lose if we aim high? if we fall, then get back up, we should aim for something higher or we will just be contented with what we have. why should we be afraid when the bubble bursts and the jokes start coming our way? set backs are part of growing its how we learn from this set backs and grow from it.

THe 2018 goal is a little bit hard to achieve but if the team could at least join the AFC in 2015...I think this is a much more obtainable objective...but then I still believe for the 2018 :-)

THe 2018 goal is a little bit hard to achieve but if the team could at least join the AFC in 2015...I think this is a much more obtainable objective...but then I still believe for the 2018 :-) Since we are bracketed as an emerging nation by AFC, our only route is the AFC Challenge Cup. Fortunately we will have two chances to do this with the AFC giving slots to the 2015 Asian Cup for both champions of the 2012 and 2014 editions of the Challenge Cup. 2012 may be a tough nut to crack with North Korea being there and a cut above the rest if they send their A squad. But in 2014, if the seedings and bracketing are fairer, we will have a legit chance of booking our trip to Australia

Getting into the Asian Cup in 2015 will be a good achievement. That's 4 years from now, it's more the U23 players that we're going to need to depend on to help get us there.
As for North korea, I know someone explained it somewhere before why they are still in the AFC Challenge Cup despite qualifying to play for the 2010 World Cup. Makes no sense to me either way.

"what you say maybe true" What I say is 100% true and not "maybe" "and in fact it was never mentioned that the road will be easy" Who debated if it was easy or hard? I simply explained why there is zero chance to achive the goals Dan has set.. "what do we have to lose if we aim high? if we fall, then get back up, we should aim for something higher or we will just be contented with what we have."Aiming High is no problem.... Aiming for heights that have zero chance to be achieved it is dumb or deceitful. o8t8s8o why did you added this stupid wank of a proverb to my post?? "A poor man says "To see is to believe" while a rich man says " Believe it and you will see!"" It is bad Forum practice and makes you loose credibility mate Also narko before you back something read it first please...

Sorin, I've read the post and I was merely agreeing to the sentiment expressed by o8t8s8o's comment as I share that general outlook of optimism, and whether the goals are achieved or not, I will still be there to support because I believe in this team and Dan's vision for this team.
It has nothing to do with your post because the insinuation that I'm backing something is that I am against something. If you think my comment is an attempt to say you're wrong, then you are mistaken and that was never my intention. I just couldn't figure out how to take out your quote after I pressed the quote button on o8t8s8o's comment, if you wish to teach me how to edit my post so it only reflects o8t8so's comment I will gladly modify it.
My attitude is that I believe everyone here is entitled to their own opinion and I respect them. It is not in my nature to go slagging people off on these boards just because my opinions differ from theirs. I enjoy the exchanges here and I keep an open mind because I learn a lot from these boards and gain valuable insights, particularly from the regulars.
Peace!

sorin, sir good day, i really liked what you said, and im not here to discredit you. you might be one of those knowledgeable persons when it comes to football, i believe you have your facts at hand for you to give such a conclusion... did you notice i never used stupid, lame or any insulting word to your post it's because i respect your opinion. what i wrote is just so you would know that however impossible it is to have such a goal, we should not be afraid to face such challenges, after all we have nothing to loss... we cant be afraid, we cant be intimidated.. notice i ended my post with a smiley and a wink coz it's to say all is good sir

Though Dan Palami's goal is far-fetched and impossible given the resources and pool of talents. I still like the idea that the manager has set a goal for the team, something that the Azkals can aim for. Everything starts with a dream, then set sights how to achieve that dream by setting goals to achieve.
There are no shortcuts, you cannot reach the World Cup by not dominating your region 1st. Dominate Asia, then the World Cup will follow. The Azkals should start aiming for the AFC Asian Cup before anything else.
