Who is putting him down? If you mean me, that wasnt my intention. I only asked when the UFL did become a professional league. I bet Burkey will get alot of playing time in the upcoming tournaments, like the Long Teng Cup. He needs more international exposure, and its the perfect timing to get some experience against Macau and Chinese Taipei. Sabio definetly needs more experience as well. No Mike, wasnt talking about you. Back read youll see. I think some of us fans should realize with a foreign coach with the experience of Weiss, its virtually impossible to have a player in his team that was "included in the team with backing from a HIGHER power" or whos "not good" enough. Im sure these guys are in the Azkals because of their skill and nothing else. So saying a sub is "not good" is too simplistic an approach to a national team like the Azkals and unfair to these guys individually and in general. Or... I could be wrong On a happier note if this kid is staying in the PI along with Sabio, they probably will be playing alot more for the national team(minor tourneys, friendlies etc.) and HOPEFULLY be learning as they go along. You never know Burkey, Sabio etc might become serviceable players or even starter material in the long run. QUESTION: Why did Weiss pull NB right after he scored that goal vs Sri Lanka? Was he blowing assignments before that, or... Just curious.

Nate Burkey just got his 2nd Hat trick in as many games! To be precise he had 4 goals in the game against Schwarz FC in yesterday Oct 20th, game. That gives him 7 goals in two games and powers his team, Kaya FC, into the UFL's "round 16," the first team to make it there.
Its great to see Nate getting more work as a featured striker/forward. Hopefully his continued good play will carry over to the AFC Challenge Cup. I've got a feeling he's going to start beside Phil if he continues what he's been doing.
Yes there's Mark H, Angel and Mr Palami's penchant for surprising us with his new "acquisitions" from Europe. But until then, good luck and good going to Nate!

This is a guy who has potential and understands the system and his role in the team. Which is probably why he was chosen ahead of Misagh.

There has to be a reason why he was getting caps, right? Hope the club form translates to international goals.

Since I couldn't post on the Philippines vs. LA Galaxy thread anymore, I decided to post here this interesting note featuring Nate Burkey, who happened to be a teammate to Galaxy's Adam Cristman, when they were playing for an All-State Team for the state of Virginia. Long before the team departed for the start of the tour late last month, Cristman knew that he would be facing his former D.C. United teammate Danny Allsopp when the Galaxy face the Melbourne Victory. However, after starting the first game of the tour in Indonesia, nearly setting up a pair of first half goals while also hitting a shot off the crossbar, Cristman learned that he would be facing an old friend from his past in Manila a few days later.
Nate Burkey, a Philipino-American (sic) who was raised in Virginia and played college soccer at Virginia Commonwealth, plays his club soccer in the Philippines with Kaya FC while also representing the nation, earning three caps for the Azkals. But before he could do all of that, Burkey played for an All-State team in Virginia alongside Cristman.
“I didn’t realize that he was there, but he had gotten in touch with A.J. [DeLaGarza] on Twitter and he told him to tell me that he’s here and to get in contact with him,” Cristman said. “Then, before the game I went down to their locker room to say hello to him and I found out that Lex [Lexton Moy] was on the team as well.”
Neither Cristman, Burkey or Moy, who was also on that same state team as Burkey and Cristman, started the game, but Cristman came on at halftime and scored a pair of goals to help LA claim a 6-1 win. Burkey and Moy each came on late in the second half of that game, getting a taste of playing against their former teammate and the rest of the MLS Cup champs.
“To see two guys from my state team in Manila was the last thing that I expected. It was funny to be so far away from home yet still comes across people that I knew and played with when I was younger,” said Cristman. “I swapped shirts with one of their other guys, but I got Nate’s too, so I’m excited to have that. It was just cool to catch up with those guys and know that we’ve all be able to make it this far in the game.”
He was also able to see what drew them to the Philippines and can fully understand why the pair have chosen to play there for both club and country.
“I found Manila to be a really nice see and I can see why those guys would choose to play for the country and for the clubs that they do there.”www.lagalaxy.com/news/2011/12/reunion-week

Why oh why does Nate not get a chance with the azkals? He's been in great form in the ufl and consistently scores goals... I don't see him getting into the team ahead of phil and patigol but for me he's a better option than wolf.... Only having three strikers in the challenge cup qualifiers was a mistake and surely weiss won't repeat it in the tournament itself... While Hartmann continues to be ignored (and don't get me started on how much that pisses me off!) we need options up front and Nate can provide them

I've been asking myself the same thing. The last time he was in the roster was in the 2012 Challenge Cup and he never saw the pitch. I've also been watching a hell of a lot of UFL and must say, his one problem is that he is slooooow and secondly is a streaky scorer, and with the emergence of Patigol, availability of the favored son, Ian Araneta and the presence of a technically superior Denis Wolf just does not leave enough space for Nate.
Seriously he should convert to CB. Maybe he'll find a second position he can excel in and where the Azkals need the most help in the coming years. Ok, maybe half seriously...

I think araneta must have incriminating photos or some other dirt on HMS, I don't see any other reason why he keeps getting picked! any ideas why wolf isn't getting the chances t global?

any ideas why wolf isn't getting the chances t global? Wolf has had a recurring ankle injury since last year's UFL Cup, that's why Global only used him sparingly this league season.

Wolf came in for the second game in a row with minimal time left. The first game he was close but no goal, Thursday's game he finally found the back of the net! As usual it was in a location were he excels, directly in front of the goal, one can describe as a "scrum" almost. He's getting his fitness back but he looks good
