In the midst of excitement of the PFL launching this news popped up. He is closely watching the events unfold as I noticed he is always the one of the first to like the instagram posts of the PFL launching as it unfold every minute. Schrock negotiates return to Ceres FC Friday, April 21, 2017 By HENRY G. DOBLE AFTER dissolution of Filipino-German Stephan Schrock’s contract with SpVgg Greuther Fürth last April 15, Ceres Negros Football Club is now negotiating his possible return to the club. Ceres FC team manager James Dinsay confirmed efforts to possibly reacquire the 30-year-old midfielder who last played for the club during the 2016 AFC Cup. “We are hoping to have him back, but it all depends on the turnout of the negotiations as he also has some offers in Europe and Asia,” Dinsay said. Schrock, who signed with Ceres FC last year on-loan alongside Kevin Ingreso, played a vital role in the club’s successful AFC Cup campaign where they reached the Round of 16 only to suffer a heartbreaking 0-1 loss to South China AA in extra time. Moreover, the Azkals star also helped Ceres Football Club in the 2016 United Football Club season and the RHB Singapore Cup, where they placed third, the highest finish achieved by a Filipino club. SpVgg Greuther Fürth, director of professional football Ramazan Yildirim said that Schröck and the club have agreed on the contract resolution. “Stephan has a special place here in Furth, that was and is conscious of us,” Yildirim said. SpVgg Greuther Furth also wished Schrock all the best for his future. For his part, Schrock said he was very grateful for the time he had at the game. “I would like to wish the club and all fans a heartfelt success and will continue to keep the cloverleaf in the future as well,” he said. “On paper, I am no longer one, but I will always be a friend in my heart. Thanks for 14 great years,” he said on his FB account. PKNP FC of MPL(Malaysia Premier League) is also interested in getting the service of Stephan Schrock. Abu Bakar Fadzim's PKNP FC have been going great guns in their debut season in the Premier League and as things stands halfway through the season - are in third spot with every chance of securing an unbelievable promotion. Having played all games thus far with only three imports, the management has approved for another one to be signed, seeing how well PKNP has done. Goal understands that the vacant slot which is to be an Asian slot will be filled by Philippines' Stephan Schrock. The 30 year old midfielder who can also operate in full back position, has spent most of his career in Germany playing for Eintracht Frankfurt, Greuther Fürth and TSG Hoffenheim. The German-born Schrock initially played for Germany at the under-age levels but has since decided to pledge himself to the Azkals. He is currently on a free transfer and negotiations are on-going between PKNP and Schrock's representatives. The nagging point being that Abu Bakar wants Schrock to go through a trial but the player is not too keen to do so. m.goal.com/s/en-my/news/3889/main/2017/04/27/34986072/transfer-news-pkns-targets-ferreira-pknp-aims-for-schrock?utm_referrer=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.google.com.ph%2F

Quietly arrived in the Philippines. Aside from being part of the Ceres squad as the latest bigtime signing the timing also coincides with the upcoming Azkals fixtures maybe he is one of the callups. Only the YH brothers are confirmed by their club as of the moment.

Is Schrock retiring again from the Azkals? He's rearing to be called up. This man wants to play so much for us.

Looks like another coach vs player controversy. He might not be back until Dooley leaves. This issue is quite puzzling. A German coach having issues ironically with his fellow German players all retiring at their prime belonging to the same club and all of them are starting 11 material. Really disappointing.

And it's not only Schrock. Christiaens looks to be retiring from the national team. He's only 26.

This is getting unhealthy. As if the country has a big pool of talented players. But if you analyze the coach's performance and the development of local players, you could almost forgot that he has problems with players.

Schrock might be getting old but I think he could still be useful. Schrock has played every position on the field at Greuther Furth except goaltender, centerback and target striker. If nothing else, he could still be useful as a utility player to serve as a stopgap at an area of weakness.
At right back, he was used to mark Frank Ribery when Greuther Furth played Bayern Munich. I think he can still do the same against weaker opposition. Experienced players who have played midfielders are usually moved to back to defence as they get older where their experience can compensate for their loss of pace.
He would make a great sub if you are trying to protect a lead during the later stages of the game at either right back or left back, where his experience and composure would pay dividends, since you don't have to make overlapping runs on the flank at that point.
Maybe the issue is whether he is willing to play that role. From what I understand that is one of the reasons that Greuther Furth let him go. He did not want to play right back anymore.

Correct me if I'm wrong but he is MOTM in their AFC Cup ASEAN Zonal finals win vs Home United if that is any indicator of his current form

I think the problem with coach TD and schrock is the position. IMHO I believe schrocks wants to play more of an advance role to what coach TD is trying to assign him. See his position lately at ceres and at suzuki cup

To call up Woodland and not him is (for me) kind of boggling. If he's wanting to play in an advance role, now is a good time for Coach TD to let him. Patino is injured. Let him play behind Mike Ott and PYH.

Schrock had a falling out with his former boss at hoffenheim for letting him playing the leftback when he wanted to play the leftwing. I'm sure this is the same situation with coach TD being a possession based team. Its just that coach TD needs to manage this type of players which have strong egos and personalities. Not that Im saying schrocky is bad, but hes been with the team since 2010-2011. Stayed during the good times and the bad. And fans like us look up to him. This just give bad taste to us hardcore fans that always want to see the best players in our team. One would wonder, if this is remote, what happened to Roland and Martin?

If we're talking about only a player or two having these "ego" thing but more than 3 players in a span of months announced their "retirement" from national duties at the peak of their career seems alarming. They are not just players but they are Azkals' core players. They are our best players that's why Ceres are continuously reaching historical milestones because of those players.
