Hard to fathom the underwhelming support and interest the press and bloggers have given this team. Aren't they supposed to be the future of Philippine football?

the under 16 consists mostly of what chippy wanted.all of them are what he calls his pure pinoys.sa kangkungan ulit pinupulot kahit cambodia talo. as much as we want all or many of the players to be local players, as of now di pa talaga pwede. the training, facilities and skills ng mga locals hindi pa pang international. then what do you suggest? i train sila sa labas so that they will learn good football system not ballhog system. duh!

Aray! Aragooy! Vitenam 10, Philippines 0 Teen Azkals failed to score a single point and will soon be heading home. I wish more attention and resources will be given to the youth program. This tournament is a clear indication how far behind we are in relation to other Asian countries. What to do, what to do? that same group of pinoys continue to train here for 4 years and that vietnam team continue to train in vietnam for 4 years then let them meet again when they are almost 20 years old na. i'm sure 10-0 pa rin mangyayari dyan.

I think the U16 would greatly benefit with out of the country training through partnership with countries like Japan, Bahrain, etc (countries that expressed assistance in football development in the Philippines).
The grassroots program would mainly target the younger kids, ages 6 to 12. For the teens, they should benefit from trainings abroad. Or, invite experienced trainers to the Philippines that will train the young azkals as well as their coaches. It would be less expensive if recognized coaches or trainers are flown in to the Philippines.
How were the U16 players chosen? Did they also hold a tournament? I'm wondering if football schools like Ateneo, LSGH allowed their players to try out for the U16 National team.

An exchange program similar to the one described in the following article can benefit young Philippine soccer players if implemented locally. This particular one is between Heidmuhler FC and Vallejo (California) Police Activities League. www.timesheraldonline.com/ci_18529759

That is the better idea instead of sending kids abroad though much better kung may malaking budget..........we need to develop first our younger generation of coaches para maenhance and to impart it to the kids... the selection come from the top 4 teams that competed in the national level with the addition of some players from there club that have skills......the boys are okey it is the training period ( atleast 1 month) and the coach (i think) is lacking necessary tools for the training or maybe due to time constraint (need citation).......para walang prejudice every boys who wants to join the national team must join in the national competition and if they have the skills then they have the right to join the team.

wenden96, thanks sa info about the boys' selection. Siguro kulang sa training period and coaching skills rin. It's okay for now because this year lang naman bumangon ulit ang football. We can learn many things this year and sana better planning for next year and coming years. ^ An exchange program is a good idea. Since we seem to be forging a good relationship with Bahrain baka makatulong sila in establishing this kind of program? I'm also hoping we can get more help from Japan. And Germany also but I think it would be very expensive to have an exchange program in Europe. Include the U23s also in the exchange program or inviting international coaches to train.

I do agree, if PFF have a big budget.......if theres a budget constraint then send the coach instead.....however yung karapadapat na coach, from the top four team sa national or a selected coach in every region or province. and then the one trained abroad must execute an echo training to the rest of the coach in his province or region.at indi yung matanda ng coach....

^ Well, our U23 and U16 would need (media) exposure to promote the team & get sponsorships for this kind of projects. But before exposing the young ones to media, they (PFF or Azkal management) need to hire a publicist for the national team or hire a PR consultant. I pity our senior team members now who are entangled with scandals. It comes with being celebrities and showbiz tend to sensationalize things. Hopefully, management will consider this idea of hiring a publicist. Just to help keep the image of the sport professional and not showbiz.
With regards to training coaches abroad, agree also that it should be young coaches. Magandang idea ang selecting coaches from every region para equal opportunity for all.
