Emelio "Chieffy" Caligdong (MF, Co-Captain/Co-Skipper)
Partially tore the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) on his left leg during a Phil. Air Force club fixture against Phil. Army FC during the United Football League on 28 January 2012 at the Rizal Memorial Stadium. 1st photo shows Chieffy stretchered at the moment of injury.
Duration of recovery:
As of date, doctor's advice is being waited. It will be expected he will be out for at least 5-6 months. This shall mean he will not be available for the upcoming fixtures in the Dubai training camp, the Malaysia friendly and the Challenge Cup.
A similar knee injury was sustained by skipper Aly Borromeo when he tore his ACL during the UFL Cup game against Diliman in October. He is expected to return playing between April and May 2012.
To us at Usapang Football, get well soon Manong Chieffy.

A very sad news to the best homegrown talent in the azkals line-up... so without him and Aly who take the very critical role of being the captain of the Azkals for the Challenge Cup... last time coach W choose out a player to be the captain of a Philippine team is was disastrous... hope this time he will select the right one...
