^ Intro says, "This was the gist of the Uppercut column in Filipino sent to the Inquirer by Danny Simon of the tabloid Policefiles. We took the liberty of translating Simon’s item." I don't think the article is really Recah's work. Although making the effort of translating and giving valuable space to the work suggests that he and the author may be of the same mind.

I dont usually give a damn, criticisms are part of the sports. but this article from inquirer (GMA sister company) pisses me off. sorry for posting. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- sports.inquirer.net/7343/heroic-azkals-not-everybody-happyHeroic Azkals: Not everybody happyBy Recah Trinidad Philippine Daily Inquirer Thursday, July 14th, 2011 Did a quick search on Recah Trinidad... turns out he's one of the hated people in the sports world, if I understood correctly ;D I sense that the author is pikon about something, or desperately needed to publish something provocative... Let's just leave him alone with his misery. It's not like he has any real impact on Philippine sports, anyway.

Wow that article screams of a media personality that got shunned of his usual ease in covering events and just wanted to bite back. It has everything that we dislike, even the perception of our players as "half-Filipinos". Yeah, it really left a bad taste in my mouth.

This is another classic case of media laziness and irresponsibility.
First of all, the article was in the blog section of the paper, an "opinion" piece, if you will. So no need to get blood boiling here. Columnists are given free rein in putting in their opinions, and readers know that these are opinion pieces, not a report.
but.....
If Recah picks up the opinion of a tabloid writer whose rantings are inaccurate and racist, what does that say about him and the paper? If he wants to point out sentiment against the Azkals, is this the best he can do? That's what I mean by laziness and irresponsibility. Might as well print the opinion of a 5-year old who doesn't like the Azkals because as he was walking along close to Rizal Stadium, a fan bumped into him causing him to drop his ice cream. How about the opinion of the self-proclaimed full-blooded Pinoy who thinks that only Aetas are worthy of representing the PHL in football? By taking on such opinions and printing it in the paper, it elevates such nonsense into national discussion. (Of course it could also degrade the columnist and the paper, but that usually takes longer to happen, unfortunately.)
If Recah wants to highlight anti-sentiment, he should find someone with more integrity. This shows laziness and irresponsibility.
My suggestion -- ignore this guy. Irrelevant.

Danny Simon who?
Who is this guy? I can actually explain all his complaints. From not allowing the in-home based athletes entering the stadium to the men in black security. But us guys would probably know that already, so no need.
BTW even if the team gets clobbered by Kuwait, does he really think the futbol fever stops there? Does he really think we will stop visiting this site and talk about pinoy futbol? FYI, weve been like this before Azkals was on TV or print.
this simon guy is a loser.
xyz1000 may be right, this guy mite be the "5-year old who doesn't like the Azkals because as he was walking along close to Rizal Stadium, a fan bumped into him causing him to drop his ice cream".
Can somebody buy this guy an icecream? & 2 scoops to shut him up

I've read Recah's article and mentioned that "Yes, our pure-bred national athletes were shooed away from their homes just to give way to stray dogs, mongrels of doubtful pedigree." comment about the other Pinoy athletes who stayed at the Rizal Stadium's quarters were kicked out for a day. This is clearly for security purposes only says PSC chair Ritchie Garcia. They(PSC) gave free tickets to watch the game but reports says they sell it at black market. Recah, for God's sakes old man, you're not only open-minded but a racist as well. Guys like Etheridge, Guirado, Younghusband bros. Greatwich bros.,Schrock, etc. are all Pinoys and still you (Recah) denied it, They all played for our flag then you wrote a article(negative) like this. If you have a beef with PFF, bakit mo idinamay ang team AZKALS?
I'm afraid that he will write this again when we have a home game against Kuwait. well, go ahead!
you're rubbish sir Recah (a.k.a. Adolf Hitler with a pen)! shame on you!
He deserve a red card and Azkals will get a penalty kick for that.

I bet you this Recah is an old school PBA spoiled journalist holding on to his sports column. Sorry I read blogs and twitter nowadays. People nowadays see through this kind of writing/journalism. He's on his way to moving on like Al Mendoza and the rest...I hope Inquirer takes note of this and make way for the younger media. Pls Mr Recah, I brought my kids to the game and I was very happy to see the tight security measures the PSC organized for the event. I appreciated the "people in black" ensuring security and safety. To the PSC, Pls dont waste you precious Azkals media tickets to media men like Mr Trinidad

halfpinoy and purebred pinoy gatong na naman. halfpinoy with doubtful lineage along those lines just shows tamad magresearch.
di raw pang masa ang presyo by first mentioning the lowest priced among the expensive priced seats then hinuli yung talagang murang seats na 200 and 300. this isn't like other sports na ilang beses na naghold ng games. dahil paminsan minsan lang mangyari to they have to price it as high as possible wherein people would still watch it. di namin masisi ang iba kung bakit napilitan ang ibang sport na magbenta ng talagang pang masa tiket priced at 10pesos PERO DI NAUBOS KAYA PINAMIGAY NA LANG.
riding high on wins against so-so opponents? if we talk mongo bangla srilanka yang mga yan lang ang so-so. pero dahil sa tamad mag research di niya alam na beating THE NOT SO-SO opponents like singa and viet is what got them well-known in the first place.kahit nga palestine di rin so-so na kalaban yun. so-so ka dyan. so kita niyo na ginagawa ng gma? si jessica at chino nag introduce sa exploiting chippy sa pure vs half. then eto ang newspaper ng gma source ulit galing sa blogger lang. yung sa scandal sa 1st day tv5 gma at abs nagreport. pero next day onwards about sa training na reports ng abs at tv5 pero gma hanggang ngayon puro tungkol sa alleged scandal pa rin. klarung-klaro agenda nila.

In our line of work we have a term for what this Recah Trinidad is doing: "nagpapapansin at nagpaparamdam." I have a feeling some of the "old boys" network feel threatened by the rise of football which they haven't even given a second look before the rise of the Azkals. I hope these guys continue to get ignored and those who know what they are talking about with regard to football are given the opportunity and a bigger role so that we get more substantive and in-depth pre and post match analyses, commentaries and insight. You can see how sharp Ronnie Nathaliensz is, his tactic is different and has been praising the Azkals lately. He sees where the winds of change in their profession is blowing and is making sure he gets blown along with it, hehe.

You cant expect newbies to walk the walk and talk the talk of futbol overnite, not even a good research will do. It will take time. Next time we know Ronnie will walk and talk futbol. . But as for this Ricah guy? Im not even sure.

After Trinidad comes KOBE to the Rescue www.gmanews.tv/sports/tfs/latest/226265/sports/the-final-score-kobe-bryant-the-azkal-kobe-bryant-the-tamarawThe Final Score: Kobe Bryant the Azkal, Kobe Bryant the Tamaraw | More Share 6 By Mico Halili In the normal NBA, Kobe Bryant is a Laker. But these are abnormal times. And in a current lockout, Bryant is, technically, neither a supreme Laker nor a league representative. He is a basketball player without a team or league. But he is Kobe, still; albeit Kobe being Manila's most recognizable tourist last July 13. Even as a mega-billionaire nomad, he promotes, stays top of mind, even when he assumes other frames and forms. At 32, after 15 years in the NBA, the charm's still there, like Bryant spews out charismatic venom. The scowl is in storage. The disappointing playoffs a distant memory. He struts with the swagger of a five-time champion and the smile of a celebrity. Yet due to restrictions of a league on-hold, he's game to talk about other matters aside from a past season gone to waste, a future season in limbo. Not so eager to talk about his new coach. Not that willing to explain why players like him have been locked out of the front gates. But Kobe the tourist is in the mood to chat, about other stuff anyway. His eyes light up when I mention football. It's his other sporting passion. It's proof of Kobe's Italian side. And he shows why any war between basketball and football is utter nonsense. I'm not sure if my mention of the word "Azkals" resonates. But the topic I raise makes him, I suspect, a little giddy. "Football is a beautiful sport," Bryant, whose current low-cut signature sneaker was originally inspired by the low-cut shoes footballers used, exclaims. "It really helped me develop as a kid, growing up in Italy and playing football. It really helped my footwork a lot. That's why you can see me move in different angles on the floor. And I have football to thank because I had to develop great footwork when I was young." Kobe the tourist suddenly becomes Kobe the Azkal; a basketball star endorsing the beauty of a different sport. Black Mamba is suddenly a slam-dunking footballer. He was always enthralled by how his favorite AC Milan strikers maneuvered on the pitch. The sharp cuts. The crazy change of pace. It was inspiration embedded early in the brain of an NBA predator. The proof is in his moves. The image is popping up in your head. You see it? The zig-zagging style. Deep down, in places only Kobe can access, Mamba is an Azkal. Kobe flashes his shifty moves on a Wednesday night. A surprise performance. He slips into a gold Far Eastern University jersey for the undisputed highlight of his Manila tour. He joins La Salle's LA Revilla and Joshua Webb and Ateneo's Kirk Long and Greg Slaughter in the scrimmage of a lifetime. Kobe dunks. The Big Dome goes bananas. Over a non-Laker, a non-NBA superstar for the moment. Fans go nuts for this 6-foot-6 bakasyunista. An Azkal by heart. A Tamaraw for eight incredible minutes. - GMA News

I'm really surprised why Philippine Daily Inquirer still allowed senile Recah Trinidad to write a column for them. . . This bloody old man haven't learned his lessons. He was very critical to Manny Pacquiao that he has swallowed his own words those negatives commentaries he thrown to Pacman that it appears he is doing the same with Azkals. . .Shame on you Recah Trinidad ! ! ! . . .

Do media people being paid for smearing something with bollocks? Hell I've seen and talked to people who were being paid to write articles in the internet saying Elvis is still alive.
People are sometimes there to hate. Look at what Mo Twister did, saying that the Azkals are putting the limelight away from Manny Pacquiao, which according to my own interpretation to his, says that Pac Man is a better athlete than those of the national team.
