It just wont go away hehehe... Goodluck Neil :-)
According to a report from Football Insider, West Ham have submitted a bid that could eventually be worth £7 million for Cardiff City goalkeeper Neil Etheridge.
The Hammers have real problems in the goalkeeping department at the moment.
Lukasz Fabianski recently returned from injury, but he suffered what seemed to be a recurrence of the same hip problem away at Sheffield United on Friday night.
West Ham have only Roberto and David Martin in reserve, and in truth, neither of those players are good enough for the Premier League.
The Hammers are thought to be close to securing the capture of Darren Randolph from Middlesbrough, but medical problems are holding up the proposed deal (The Evening Standard).
And Football Insider now claims that West Ham have identified Etheridge as a priority signing this month.
The Hammers have allegedly submitted a £6 million bid to Cardiff for the 29-year-old’s services, plus £1 million in add-ons.
Good signing? The 63-capped Philippines international would be a decent addition for West Ham. He would certainly be an upgrade on both Roberto and David Martin.
Etheridge is a decent shot-stopper, and he commands his area with authority. The Cardiff ace is a good communicator and is still at an age where he has plenty of years left ahead of him in the game.
£7 million does seem to be rather expensive for the former Charlton and Walsall man, however.
Cardiff signed him on a free transfer in the summer of 2017. So they will surely be delighted to get the reported fee of £7 million for him.
Having said that, West Ham are desperate, and the Welsh club have clearly taken advantage of that fact. Sometimes you just have to pay up. And signing someone like Etheridge could end up saving the Hammers from relegation.

Congratulations to Neil.
Birmingham City has survived relegation battles in the last few seasons. They could use some help in staying away from the bottom third of the table.

Neil Etheridge committed to Azkals duties despite busy summer, says Cooper THE stint of Azkals goalkeeper Neil Etheridge in the coming 2022 Fifa World Cup qualifiers next month is uncertain due to personal commitments that include his upcoming wedding. Azkals head coach Scott Cooper said Etheridge has expressed his desire to be part of the national squad for next month’s competition to be held in China in June under a bubble set-up. However, Cooper also bared Etheridge’s busy schedule in the coming months. “Neil is eligible. He is wanting to come,” said Cooper during Wednesday’s virtual press conference hosted by the Philippine Football Federation. “He is just getting his passport renewed at this moment. Of course, Neil is getting married this summer right around the middle part of that. He is going to be with us to start off, then let’s see where it goes,” Cooper said. Despite his busy schedule, Cooper said there is no question about Etheridge’s commitment to the Azkals. “(Stephan) Schrock and Etheridge are the core of this team in terms of their commitment and the things they do to talk to the players,” said Cooper. www.spin.ph/football/fifa/neil-etheridge-committed-to-azkals-duties-despite-busy-summer-a795-20210505?utm_source=Twitter-Spin&utm_medium=Ownshare&utm_campaign=20210505-twnp-football-neil-etheridge-committed-to-azkals-duties-despite-busy-summer-a795-20210505-twfirst

Neil Etheridge hospitalized due to COVID-19 Birmingham City has revealed that Philippine Azkals goalkeeper Neil Etheridge is undergoing treatment in an undisclosed facility after contracting coronavirus. “The Club can confirm that Neil Etheridge is currently receiving treatment in hospital for COVID-19,” read the team’s statement. Craig Gardner, Birmingham City’s technical director commented, “On behalf of the Board, the staff, the players, and everyone connected to the Club, we’re all behind Neil and willing him on in his battle against COVID-19.” During the 2020-21 EFL Championship, England’s second division, the 31-year-old started 43 matches and kept 13 clean sheets. He had a decent first season with Birmingham City, which finished a respectable 18th place on the league table under two managers, Spaniard Aitor Karanka and Englishman Lee Bowyer. “We’re in constant contact with his close family and will continue to support them in any way we can. He’s in the best possible hands and we’re hopeful we can all welcome him home at the earliest opportunity,” furthered Gardner. tiebreakertimes.com.ph/tbt/neil-etheridge-hospitalized-due-to-covid-19/213250
