Stockdale is already being considered to be one of Fabio Capello's options. He's going to be the successor to Schwarzer.
Our best hope for Neil to play is when they get a lower division team in the FA Cup / Carling Cup.

If I were Neil I would leave Fulham and sign for a Championship team. He will get enough experience there and he will have more chances of playing competitive games. If he plays well enough, he will eventually get a chance to get back to the Premier League.

Neil again on the bench in the just concluded Europa League game against Dnipro. Fulham wins 3-0.
Good for Neil. Must be showing good signs during practice.

When do you think will he be playing for first XI of Fulham?

2013, probably. But I wouldn't be surprised if he gets his debut if Schwarzer gets injured.

Let's see if Schwarzer will retire this season, maybe it is Neil's time, but what happened to Stockdale? Fabio Capello fancied him for a tap for the England team

Neil again on the bench today against Wolverhampton. Unfortunately they lost 2-0. I saw the 2nd half and Fulham looked lackluster. No clear long periods of good football from them, and it was annoying especially since Wolverhampton wasn't playing great football either.
It's good to see Neil on the bench. I don't know what the situation is with Somogyi, but I expected him to be #2 since he was the new coach's first signing and has more experience. I'll say it again -- that Neil has been on the bench these last few games means that he has the confidence of the coaches. I hope we see Neil more often in this situation because it means he is practicing with the first team regularly and getting the feel of playing with his teammates.
As for him being in the first XI, that will happen only if Schwarzer gets injured and Stockdale can't be recalled immediately, which is sometimes the case of loaned out players. There might be a lag of one or two weeks, sometimes more. But if he continues to excel in practice (which I'm guessing), we might see him start in a friendly or in game that's not as high pressure, or in a game where the chances are overwhelming in Fulham winning (Europa League with Dnipro?).
As an aside, Martin Jol didn't shake up the lineup this season too much. The team wasn't bad last season, but even with just two games I'm thinking that Fulham should've tweaked the team a little in hopes of improvement.
Go Neil!

Neil had the confidence of the Fulham goalkeeping staff from last year which was retained inspite of the change of manager. They had very positive comments about him at the end of the season and at one time was being considered to be loaned to another team. When Schwartzer played in the Asian Cup and Stockdale assumed the starter's role, they said then that they did not need to find a proven # 2, as they believed that Neil can do the job as starter if necessary especially because of his performance with the Philippine national team, showing composure and confidence playing in front of 100000 hostile fans in the Suzuki Cup, which they were happy with. Now that Stockdale who is 4 years older, and who is a candidate for the English national team was loaned to Ipswich they decided to give Neil a chance to prove himself worthy of being #2. I believe Somogyi was obtained as insurance, but Jol still listens to the advice of the goalkeeping staff who is very high on Neil, so Neil who is an already known commodity to the staff and fans and who of course has to prove himself in practice on a daily basis was given priority. The true test is when Neil subs in for Schwartzer, when Mark is unavailable.

Im glad there is positive news on NE. Last night I watched some highlights on his game against Ingolstadt in the runup before the Kuwait match, there were spots there where he looked pretty foolish against the other team. Im still rooting for NE but if he ever becomes number 1 it might be hard to get him to come down to play for the PI. He'll get a large contract and his team is not going to want the risk of injury to their no1 GK.

So who is better Neil, Muller, Falkesgard or Areola? aside from Neil, Areola and Muller! Falkesgaard is young as Paolo.

So who is better Neil, Muller, Falkesgard or Areola? I have to say Areola since he is groomed to be the future #1 for France. But if Neil gets his chance to experience 1st team football for Fulham this season, then maybe it could help him improve.

Neil again on the bench in the 2nd leg of the Europa league vs. Dnipro. Fulham loses 1-0 but wins on aggregate 3-1 to advance. I'm waiting to see if he's on the bench this weekend against Newcastle. I hope he is.
More power to Neil.
Regarding Areola, I think it's wonderful that the young kid is making waves at PSG and has the eye of the French team. But think about this: 18 yrs old groomed to be future France #1
Those two phrases are mutually exclusive. If you talk to anybody who is #1 at any country, no one will tell you that they were ever "groomed" to be the #1 goalkeeper. They will tell you that they earned that spot, that they were NOT "groomed."
It's laughable that you can tell whether a 17 year old kid will ever be the #1 of a major football playing country. Yes, there will always be exceptions, but especially for goalkeepers the best 17 year old will not be the best, and the #1, at 25 years old.
I think it's great that Areola is doing well. I just don't think one can expect him to be automatic #1 in the future, or that there's such a thing as grooming young goalkeepers to be #1.

Just asking: will Neil be able to debut for Fulham if and only if Schwarzer would be allowed to cap for Australia for the upcoming WCQ group stages next month?
I'm just speculating.
