Here's the whole article. Former national striker Freddie Gonzalez makes a smashing return in a Pachanga victoryby rick olivares January 15, 2012 The Turf, BGC Pachanga opened its UFL Division II campaign with a bang by peppering Agila with 30 shots on goal en route to a 4-0 win at the Turf at the Bonifacio Global City. The Red Phoenix dominated possession and the midfield in a spectacular display of its vaunted passing game. But unused to the smaller dimensions of the Turf pitch, Pachanga struggled with its finishing. They finally beat Agila’s valiant keeper Joseph Rodelas in the 31st minute when right midfielder Gino Palomo blasted a perfect through ball by central midfielder Boyet Cañedo. Agila, reinforced in the January transfer window by some players from brother team Loyola Meralco as they lost half its lineup to the ongoing UAAP men’s football season, tried their best draw level behind former national player Alvin Valeroso and Mark Madrona. With Pachanga sending their wing backs to support the attack, Agila caught Pachanga with a man advantage on the counter on several occasions. But they were unable to score as the Red Phoenix’s captain Yves Ashime repeatedly prevented Valeroso and Madrona from getting off a good shot. Pachanga finally broke the backs of Agila in the 60th minute when midfielder Oussey Diop collected a deflected shot by Janrick Soriano a few meters from outside the box to volley it home for a 2-nil lead. Minutes later, matters turned from bad to worse for Agila when former national player and Red Phoenix owner Freddie Gonzalez entered the match to replace striker Jovin Bedic. Gonzalez who last played competitive football four years ago was inspirational in his return to competitive football. Soon after his entry, he served up a cross that new acquisition Ruffy Llorente blasted home for Pachanga’s third goal. Five minutes before fulltime, Gonzalez this time drove from the left wing where he drew a couple of Agila defenders. Trying to locate forward Anu Farah or midfielder Kross Ubiam, Gonzalez’ tight cross deflected off Agila defender Louie John Valeroso for an own goal that ended the scoring at 4-nil. “We didn’t adjust right away to the small pitch,” said Pachanga head coach Norman Fegidero Jr. “It took a while for offense to get going. Then the goals came.” “Did you see our new Spanish import?” he joked referring to Gonzalez who still showed he can play some. “Hindi lang Global ang may Spanish player.” “I felt old and slow in there,” huffed a relieved and ecstatic Gonzalez. “A few more games and maybe I will be in shape. But it’s good to get that first win.” Notes: Agila suffered a huge blow when Alvin Valeroso went down with a recurring groin injury. Mark Madrona, who was a fearsome striker for Romblon and UE in regional and UAAP competition struggled as he was off form. Ruffy Llorente’s playing for Pachanga reunites him with his West Negros head coach Nonoy Fegidero and Mustangs teammate Boyet Cañedo and Kenneth Dolloso. Pachanga played minus Mako Sorongon who stayed home in Iloilo due to a death in the family. His brother was fatally shot in an accident over the holidays. Freddy at right, a little wider but still only 33 years young! Pic from Rick Olivares' blog bleachersbrew.blogspot.com/2012/01/pachangas-late-barrage-secures-2nd-win.html Pachanga’s late barrage secures 2nd win...In the second half, the Pachanga went to their deep bench as head coach Nonoy Fegidero replaced his forwards with Sudanese Anu Farah and Freddie Gonzalez. Farah tacked on a much-needed third goal in the 79th minute that allowed his side to breathe a little easier when he weaved through a pair of defenders for a thunderous strike. Carlo Tacusalme atoned for an earlier miscue when he fired from close range in the first minute of added time to peg the score at 4-1 for the Red Phoenix. Fegidero’s squad took their second successive win to stay unbeaten alongside Laos which beat Dolphins 2-nil. Diliman, the other team seeded as a contender for the division crown, drew 1-1 with Queen City United in a match last Saturday. In two matches thus far, seven different Pachanga players have scored – Gino Palomo, Oussey Diop, Ruffy Llorente, Jalsor Soriano, Jovin Bedic, Anu Farah, and Carlo Tacusalme. Regular scorers Chris Ojamire and Kross Ubiam as well as the come backing Freddie Gonzalez have yet to find the back of the net.

Off-topic: Regarding the pic above. If that's Turf@BGC, then it looks kind of small. I inferred this based on the size of the other goal from the opposite goal's point of view.
As for Freddie Gonzales, he is still not that old and could still be better than some of the Azkals' strikers. I wish I could see him play whenever another Azkals+UFL team is assembled. Too bad I still don't know Philippine football when he was the star of the national team.

Leoisiah. Yep. It is kinda small. That's why it's pretty much for practice and UFL division 2 games only.

I agree he should play for the NT. He's still a spring chicken for a 33 year old. He could be Phil's Strike partner while Wolf is not around.

I agree he should play for the NT. He's still a spring chicken for a 33 year old. He could be Phil's Strike partner while Wolf is not around. Ive said this before too, but I think he needs the desire to do it and maybe a few more UFL matches to lose his mini gut On another hand, Freddy(Ive only seen 1 match but have been following his stats) seem to have a better feel for attacking the ball but more so in handling it, something that Ian has been lacking lately. Since Weiss like to give 5-10 minutes for his subs, Freddy might just be able to fit in with the team sooner. My dream scenario, some playing time in the Long Teng Cup!

Gonzales scores hat trick in UFLBy Joey Villar (The Philippine Star) Updated March 12, 2012 12:00 AM MANILA, Philippines - Alfredo Gonzales came away with a hat trick as Pachanga FC swept Team Socceroo, 8-0, to close in on league-leading Diliman Victory Liner FC in the Second Division of the United Football League at the University of Makati field in Makati City yesterday. Gonzales went to work early as he broke the ice with a first minute goal and then followed it up with another 25 minutes later as the Pachanga booters surged ahead with a comfortable 6-0 lead at half. The top Pachanga scorer added another goal in injury time to complete a rare feat while hiking his total goals scored to 11, two short behind the league-leading 13 posted by Sunken Garden United FC’s Romnick Jover. www.philstar.com/SportsArticle.aspx?articleId=786291&publicationSubCategoryId=69&keyword=sp_footballI know its against Div 2 opponents, but think, he is scoring more than either Nate Burkey or Ian, lets see against Div 1 next season. just sayin'...

Freddy was the Philippines marquee player when I started following the NT in the late 90's early 2000. He was a terrific player & captain for the squad, but unfortunately his supporting cast wasn't that great and PFF was poorly funded compared to todays version of the NT.
Wasn't he the one that Aly Borromeo accidentally collided w/ & injured? then he gave Aly the captaincy afterwards? I forgot what match that was. Good to see him back in the futbol mix, hopefully he returns to his old form & challenge for a spot in the NT. Does Pachanga sell his jersey? I want to get one when I go to the motherland next month.
