Waiting game for York City over Adam Reed By Dave Flett
4:19pm Thursday 6th June 2013
ADAM Reed is waiting to hear if there is any higher-league interest in his services before deciding whether to commit his future to York City.
The 22-year-old midfielder scored two goals in six League Two matches for the Minstermen during a successful loan spell from Sunderland at the end of last season.
He was subsequently released by the Premier League Black Cats and is now available on a free transfer.
City boss Nigel Worthington has told Reed that he is ready to hold talks to bring him back to Bootham Crescent on a permanent basis but also respects the player’s wishes, saying: “At the moment, Adam is holding fire and wants to see if there’s any interest from higher divisions, so he would like a bit more time and I have no problems with that.
“We have made our feelings clear that we like the lad but, in the meantime, talks are ongoing in terms of getting another midfielder in as well.”

Hartlepool footballer Adam Reed leaves Sunderland to join Burton AlbionADAM Reed has joined League Two side Burton Albion. The combative Hartlepool-born midfielder has been snapped up by the Brewers following his release by Sunderland at the end of last season. There had been speculation that Reed could end up at his hometown club, but he has put pen to paper on a one-year deal at the Pirelli Stadium. Reed never played a competitive game for Sunderland though he did feature on the pre-season tour to the Far East last summer and was a regular in the reserve team in the Barclays Premier U21 league. The 22-year-old spent a large chunk of last season on loan at clubs in Leagues One and Two. He made 10 appearances for League One strugglers Portsmouth at the start of 2013 before returning to Sunderland. And he went from one struggler to another when he agreed a five-week loan deal with York City. New York boss Nigel Worthington brought in Reed when the club were second bottom of the fourth tier of English football after a 15-game winless streak. And Reed made a notable contribution as the Minstermen climbed to a final position of 17th and four ppoints above the drop zone. Being a long time watcher of Adam, I really hope he sticks at the League One level for now at least. I hope he settles in and gets good playing time. He's young so should still be developing. But yeah, my ulterior motive is to eventually get him into the Azkals

Well, it was mentioned that Dooley was looking to add a top flight player from Australia (most likely Iain Ramsay) and an upstart in England (either Reed, Woodland or Chicksen perhaps?)

Coulson and Oyebanjo offered deals but Puri, Reed, Andrew and Allan released
1:02pm Tuesday 20th May 2014
YORK City manager Nigel Worthington feels “positive” about the chances of retaining the services of Lanre Oyebanjo and Michael Coulson for next season.
The out-of-contract pair have been offered new deals for 2014/15, while Sander Puri, Adam Reed, Calvin Andrew, Tom Allan, Chris Dickinson and Shaq McDonald have all been released by the Minstermen.
Oyebanjo, who scooped three Player of the Year awards this week, is believed to be interesting the likes of League One Crawley Town and both he and Coulson would be entitled to free transfers under the Bosman ruling.
Oyebanjo has requested time to consider his offer, but The Press understands Coulson is close to putting pen to paper.
Having held discussions with the duo yesterday, Worthington was encouraged by their responses, saying: “I am very positive about both situations.
“Lanre wants to go on holiday and think about things and that’s perfectly fine. I’ve heard the rumours but he’s not told me directly that he would like to move back down south again and I know he has thoroughly enjoyed his time at the club and appreciated how well he has been treated.
“Sometimes, that counts for a lot and, if Lanre does move on, I know he is the type of player who will need that club and the personnel to be right. Going into a different environment might not suit him, but he will have to decide what’s right with him.”
Reed and Andrew both finished the season in City’s starting XI but have not been handed new deals at Bootham Crescent, while Worthington also decided against an option to extend the stay of Estonian international Puri in North Yorkshire.
On that trio, he explained: “The football club is at a stage where we want to nudge things forward all the time.
“Adam played his part towards the end of the season but I want to exercise my right to have a look around over the course of the summer to see if there’s anything we can improve on in that area to make us stronger. I explained that to him and he accepted it.
“Calvin bought into our system very well and worked really hard but the one thing he was shy on was goals and efforts on goal which, in his role, he has to provide. The harsh reality of the game is, if you want to be a centre forward, you have to score goals.
“Sander was unfortunate to pick up a couple of hamstring and knee injuries that hampered his season and he never really got going after that so he is free to go elsewhere.”
Teenage defender Allan, meanwhile, has had the offer of a two-year contract withdrawn after he failed to accept it within a one-month timeframe.
Gateshead, managed by ex-City chief Gary Mills, are believed to be interested in his services, but any potential future employer would be required to pay a compensation fee, agreed between the two clubs or settled by a tribunal, if they signed him.
“We offered Tom a two-year contract but, as part of that, he should have come back to the club within four weeks,” Worthington revealed. “He hasn’t done that and we can’t hang around.
“We are looking at another centre half and I am not the type of manager who wants to carry a lot of bodies so, unfortunately for Tom, we explained that we were withdrawing the offer because of the lack of a response from him but we will still be entitled to a compensation fee if another club takes him on and we wish him all the best for the future.”
First-year pro Dickinson leaves the club after just two brief substitute outings while mid-season 18-year-old recruit McDonald failed to make a single senior appearance.
On their departures, Worthington added: “They are two young lads but, if you carry too many bodies, players can soon get lost so we have freed them both to get on with their lives and careers elsewhere because we are looking to strengthen the squad.”
Cameron Murray, meanwhile, is the only second-year apprentice, to be offered and sign professional terms with Tom Chamberlain, who made two first-team substitute appearances last season, being released after an extended opportunity to prove his worth.
“We gave Tom four weeks extra over the other second-years but, unfortunately, there was just not quite enough coming through from him,” the City boss pointed out.
With David McGurk also retiring from the full-time game, the departures leave the Minstermen with 12 players - Ryan Bowman, Josh Carson, Wes Fletcher, Michael Ingham, Ryan Jarvis, Keith Lowe, John McCombe, Lewis Montrose, Murray, Dan Parslow, Russell Penn and Tom Platt – who are under contract for next season.

Crewe Alexandra release trialists BY NATHANIEL HOLLAND ? JULY 16, 2014 ?
Crewe Alexandra have announced that they are not extending the trial period for winger Femi Orenuga and midfielder Adam Reed.
Both players featured in the Railwaymen’s two pre-season friendlies as Steve Davis’ men beat Norton United and Nantwich Town 4-0 and 4-1 respectively.
Orenuga scored in the game against Norton in the 45 minutes that he played, and he was given another half against the Dabbers to impress.
The former Everton winger failed to make his mark in the game against Nantwich, struggling to get the better of Crewe’s former left back Andy White.
Having started his career with Southend United, the 21-year-old signed for the Toffees in 2009 but left two years later without making a senior appearance.
Orenuga made his senior debut when he featured twice off the bench during a loan spell with Notts County during a six-month spell with the Magpies in 2011.
He came to Crewe on trial having recently returned to the UK after a two-year spell in Sweden with AFC United.
Reed, who was released by League Two side York City in May, failed to make an impact in his two appearances.
He played the second half against Norton as well as playing a part in the Nantwich encounter two days later.
Having progressed through the youth setup with Sunderland, the 23-year-old has had spells with Brentford, Bradford, Leyton Orient, Portsmouth and Burton Albion.
He played 21 games for the Minstermen in an 18-month spell at Bootham Crescent before leaving in May.
Crewe have two games this week when the League One side face Leek Town on Friday before travelling to the Deva stadium to face Conference side Chester on Saturday.

His wikipedia page says that he's with Whitley Bay (semi-pro club who play in the Northern League, same level as Rob Gier's Ascot United), but it was about 7 months ago and i'm not sure whether he's still there since the squad list on their website isn't working.... they have team sheets on their facebook page from their last few games of the season and he isn't listed on there so it looks like he may not be with them any more... It really looks like his career has hit a bit of a brick wall and imo he should follow faridoon's suggestion and get in touch with a UFL club to get his career back on track...
