I'm sure that our fellows from INC here will use that for their gatherings, Let's hope that they will lease it to some local clubs for a cheap price. Nice venue for the UFL Cup Final I suppose?

the arena is just a 50,000 capacity auditorium for religious activities, concerts, etc. the picture in the op is another structure in the inc complex. (based on what ive seen in net 25)

Wow this is great news, I dont believe we can fill it up for an Azkals or any soccer game yet. But Im glad there's the capability/capacity when the time comes. Good job for the INC, I hope theyre thinking about "other" things besides religious services.
I was reading the skyscrapercity comments. Apparantly some believe this is the "largest" domed arena in the world. No such luck. 50,000 is an average crowd for an NFL football(that what you would call "American Football") matches, larger still if its Premier leagues in Europe. There are older and much larger Arenas. Pacman just fought in Texas against Clottey in the "Cowboy's Stadium". It seats 80,00 people and 110,000 if they use the "lawn" area. Its got a retractable dome.
One good thing though, maybe with partnership with INC the PI can host soccer tourneys like AFC or ASEAN cup games like Nepal is doing now. Great going INC!

I think their claim to be the world's biggest domed structure is based just on the dome size itself which is 'nearly 36,000 square meters' as stated on skyscrapercity.com. Its field is said to be the size of 1 and a half football pitch. It wasn't clear to me though if the roof was retractable, it seems to have a transparent roof. Could this be good for the grass? I have a question, I remember reading somewhere na kaya sa Rizal Stadium ang World Cup Qualis kasi only PSC owned/ maintained arenas can be used as venues on FIFA events? Is this correct? Anyway, if its going to be used for the good of Football in our nation, who cares if it's the biggest in the world or not. It's just sad that private organizations have the initiative to pursue such endeavors but the government do not.

I read somewhere in skyscrapercity forums that the arena is not for football. Multi-purpose 'ata yan (religious activities, sports activities). Is INC supporting football?, I read the article that it never saysthe arena not playing for football.

rebel2fate, good question on WCQ matches needing to be owned by a govt entity (ex. PSC). Im not so sure about that because in the US, I dont believe there IS a government owned sports arena, mostly are private and at most maybe county owned. I think the main criteria is that there are standard seat distances for each person and a viewing section for fans other than the local team and maybe minimum seating number? But they still play in the US for WCQ games. Hopefully INC willl be farsighted enough to include football as a user for their dome. Itll only be good for business for them too!

the arena cannot support a football match but it has another structure called the NEU stadium (the picture in the op) that has a football field

There will actually be an indoor arena and an outdoor stadium built at the same location, now which was has exactly the 50K seats... based on the link above by Cjeagle: www.skyscrapercity.com/showthread.php?t=1434352"The facility located near Manila, named the Philippine Arena, will be fitted with 50,000 seats and its domed roof will be nearly 36,000 square meters, making it the world’s largest domed arena, the company said." No information though about the outdoor stadium pictured above.

I think the Philippine Arena (50k seater) is for indoor sports only like basketball, tennis or etc... And intended to be used by INC for their gatherings....No football I think..
But they will build also the one picture above a track and football field...20k capacity daw..Bigger and better than RMS..
Tagal pa to...2014..but I do hope that the azkals is the best team in 2014 in South east asia or even asia..

Here's the image of the plan by the INC. Philippine Arena is the domed structure at the right side. The football stadium is at the top of the picture surrounding the buildings. The Erano Manalo Medical Center is the buildings at the bottom of the planned project. NLEX is at the left Philippine Arena is NOT for football. It's for Basketball, Indoor Sports and Concerts The New Era Sports Complex is the one that has the football stadium. Estimated time of completion: 2014 Opening Date: Presumably July 27, 2014 The Football stadium there has an estimated capacity of of 30000 to 50000. (Don't know the exact capacity) More info click the thread below for the latest update about this www.skyscrapercity.com/showthread.php?t=1434357 (Always updated by forumers)
