nternational standard football field eyed for Iloilo Montesa Grino - Caoyonan April 23, 2014
The Iloilo Provincial Government has set aside P 24 million for the rehabilitation of football field at the Iloilo Sports Complex in La Paz district to hold international football tournaments.
Governor Arthur Defensor Sr. said he wants to rehabilitate the rubberized oval track and install lights so that the football field could hold games even at night.
The governor stressed P 15 million will be allotted for the rehabilitation of rubberized oval track while P 9 million for the special lights.
“I want to make Iloilo a center of football in Western Visayas and eventually the football capital of the Philippines but we can’t make this goal if we won’t convert our football field to attain international standard,” he said.
Defensor added Iloilo particularly Barotac Nuevo is known as the Football Capital of the Philippines where Azkals team captain Chieffy Caligdong was discovered so the province needs to make football field suit for international standards like the Rizal coliseum in Negros Occidental and Cebu City.- #IMTNewsbreak
