narko,
Ray Hudson's style is very different. Ray is indeed very excitable and emotional, much more so than Bob and employs an offbeat style of humor that is just hilarious and not always toned down enough for TV audiences, I might add. His elaborate use of metaphors and exaggerated descriptions of goals and players makes him very popular with fans and players alike. Along with his Newcastle accent, he is quite entertaining to listen to.
As for our local broadcasting duo, Bob and Darren I like what they bring to the broadcast, much more than previous announcers, both doing a good job of explaining the game to the new fans while adding color to the broadcast. They might not be as polished or entertaining as the English World Cup or EPL broadcasters, but Darren's English accent and technical knowledge of the of the game combined with Bob's familiarity with the local football scene and players, provide an element of authenticity to the broadcast while giving us glimpses of our players personal side as well.

I have another one, where Bob insists on exclamating, "Ian BAYONA Araneta..." I Might have gotten that wrong though...

Agreed. I dare say this thread is making Bob grow on me pretty fast. Now I can't wait for his next commentary! Haha!

At the other end of the spectrum are the Mexicans. Non-stop talking at 200 kph all throughout the game. My poor Spanish can pick up allusions to personal matters about the players, jokes, whatever. And then of course there's .......GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO (takes a breath) OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL. Which you will hear from the English as often as the Queen yawns in public. Andrés Cantor is from Argentina. Even thought Latin American commentators share some similar styles... these are Mexican commentators for Mexico (not for the US): but the masters are the Argies: Juan Pablo Varksy and my personal favorite watching the EPL every sunday morning: José Manuel "Bambino" Pons... singing everytime someone scores... lol EPL style used to bore me when younger (still does but I tolerate it more) but he just made it pretty much enjoyable... ;D

One thing I do like very much about Bob G. is his Pinoy accent. Yes. When I first heard it in a game what came to my mind was, wow, this really is our game now. A Pinoy commentator for the Pinoy national team. And the accent doesn't sound manufactured like some that I've heard in broadcast news in the Philippines. I don't know how else to describe their Pinoy accent.
And most important is that he doesn't speak like Kris Aquino, thank goodness. That would alienate the new fan faster than Marquez going down against Pacquiao. Having Tagalog sentences interspersed in the commentary, pure Tagalog sentences, is fine. Is good, even. But if he starts to put Tagalog and English in the same sentences, that's when I'll turn off the audio and write a long, nasty letter to the broadcasters.

Ok, double coverage on the SEA Games. Who watched on the AkTV on IBC 13 feed? Who watched Bob and Darren do their thing on Studio 23?
Discuss.

I didn't get to see Bob and Darren(I taped the game) but I've always hated JWebb most specifically when he does voice overs over an English language broadcast, but as xyz1000 stated, its good for the wider Pinoy audience. I actually enjoyed his broadcast in this match, he is very knowledgeable with the game. I still have a complaint though, they should at least research their subjects, as in, know the players by face too! He was stumped when number 16 Pat Hinrichsen, was subbed in. Imagine that happening in an PBA game, plus its your national team, at least be professional enough to get familiar with them(if you get paid to do this job, then do it well).

Who are the AKTV broadcasters? I feel like they read off translated scripts sometimes when it comes to their EPL/Bundesliga broadcasts and the game last night was the first time I got to really listen to them, I didn't pay much attention to what they say during the odd UFL match I catch.
I like how they're more mellow in commentary than Bob G, I miss Darren's Brit accent just for the heck of it though. My peeve is that they had lots of laughable moments though, they don't sound really knowledgeable.
All that, aside from AKTV's broadcast quality being sub-par and the audio quality being all radio-ish.

Aktv's commentators yesterday were Jason Webb and Ryan Fenix, haven't been able to watch studio 23's coverage though, lack of streaming site...

I was like switching channels Yesterday, and i like Darren and Bob but AKTV's signal was quite lovely than Studio 23. I must say though that technicality wise Darren is at par better than the AKTV's, i just like him giving ideas about "If him was the coach of the team... he could have done this and that... etc..".
That sells for me i don't know you guys.

Clearly you did not read my post, I said i like him because he brings knowledge and ideas of the the game - technicality wise. Did i say i like him because he's biased? duh.. seriously? You prefer someone instead of Darren who knows theoretical football? Grow up! Everybody know he's biased!

tama naman siya ah. ang layo ng sagot mo sa sagot niya. he only said he likes him kasi may alam siya sa football. at sa bandang huli pinakita rin niya naman na alam niyang biased yang commentator na yan.
pahiya si darren hartmann the biased sa game na yun. own goal by his brother, tapos gay kick by by his brother. that's what you get for nasosobrahan sa pag plug ng brothers mo on air. you were put there to commentate on the game and not to use studio23's airtime your hyping machine for your brothers.ka swerte mo naman at ginawa mo mong libreng hype machinery ang studio 23.
ang di ko lang nagugustuhan sa aktv commentators lalo na sa live ufl games ay minsan napupunta to name-calling the players. as if parang nag-iinuman lang yung commentators.

I was able to watch a Bundesliga game on Aktv called by Cedelf Tupas, maybe he would be asked to be on the panel for the remaining succeeding games?
