there are lot of players fighting for this position. can Del Rosario play against Nepal? if not then Jerry Lucena will play in RB and Gier in CB. Carli will be at sub. but all depends on Coach Weiss. how about Cagara and Jonsson? Schrock is also a RB don't forget His club is playing him as LM in this season..

Finally, he is on twitter. @robdazogier2.
I would think he will not fall for the "waste of time" brouhaha that befell Mark Hartmann

Rob Gier fans on the interwebs are circulating talk that Rob has "no club" already.
From the president of the Rob Gier fans club (via their Facebook group page):
"May training na Azkals and issue kay coach ang presence ng fil-foreigns. Gusto nya magtraining cla together as a team ndi ung 2 days before game lang dumadating bec of club commitments. E c rob wla nmn club kya papunta na cya. Cna jeff christaens papunta na rin ata."
"Di ba medyo mtagal n cya d naglalaro sa europe. Baka ayaw na nya as profession. Sa natl team n lng tlga cya nagcocommit."
"rob works for the azkals na. Counterpart ni ace [Bright] for intl affairs of players"
This apparently means that he may have been transfer-listed or released by Ascot United in this month's transfer window. Will inform you on further developments.

As per Ryan Fenix (@ryan Fenix): Just saw the final player list of Global FC HOLY COW! Azkal defender in the house. Welcome to UFL Rob Gier.

if he joins/joined Global, will he still be the Azkals' coordinator and scout for Europe?

if he joins/joined Global, will he still be the Azkals' coordinator and scout for Europe? That remains a big question mark for now. If he retains his duties as coordinator and scout while away from England, it's fine, but I should say someone from Europe should take his post for the sake of those players still based abroad.

If I deem it correctly, if Rob is in the country, he will play for Global.

Info via stellarboy:
"According to the president of Rob Gier's fans club, who has a direct contact with Rob, he returned to England to pack some of his belongings for his stay in the PI and work on his pending/remaining tasks (as Euro-based coordinator) back there. He will be on a direct flight to Dubai for the training camp, after which he will join the team back in Manila to prepare for the Malaysia friendly. He promised the fans club that he will hopefully debut in the league fixture against Stallions on the 18th or in the games in late March after the tourney."

I speculate now that, since Rob has returned to England to continue nursing his injury, he might not really be his time to play for Global. I do hope in time for the Malaysia friendly and the Challenge Cup, he will be fit enough and be able to play for the team. Here we would see if he would take a shot for club football in the PI or return to England after the tourney by late March or early April.
Let's see then... fingers crossed...

Fans of Rob Gier made a mini-presscon during a fan meet with him a day before he left with the team to Nepal. He had lots of share about his personal life, his football career, his experience with the national team, and his family. (warning: giggling, screaming fangirls) Rob revealed that he signed for Global not to move to the PI, but to maintain his fitness after his recent injury. I presume he will then be out after the March transfer window. And there are more to hear from him... so sit back and watch!

Thanks, Stellarboy, for posting that.
I can't believe I actually watched the whole video despite the screaming silly, silly fangirls. Substantive answers on his background, etc. to get to know him more.
I commend him for making himself available and putting up with all the giggling and screaming. A testament to being a good ambassador of football to the Filipino people. I feel sorry for him. But then again, maybe he truly enjoys that kind of thing.
