Well it shouldn't be a surprise since they tied Malaysia at the AFF that they would be ranked close together. It they remain active, they should challenge Myanmar for No. 3 in the AFF.

Hopefully if they become more active next year, they will rise up the rankings even more. The new found flexibility that the new TV contracts and sponsorships has provided to the PFF should help in that regard.

If they were to make it to the top 40 in the world in one year, that would truly be a remarkable achievement. However, for the first time in recent memory, the AFF tournament is scheduled for July so all the players with NCAA D1 experience should be available for national team duty. If everything falls into place, they could dominate that tournament. If they let the oppurtunity pass, they will be fighting for the scraps left behind by the top three. There are many who think that any peso spent on the WNT is money that should have been spent on the Azkals. It will be interesting to see if the PFF is prepared to support the best chance a Philippines team has of winning a title in 2012.

The AFF won't be in July, after all. It will be Sept. 12 to 22. We need to get into tournaments where we can use our best players. Most of our best players are unavailable September, October, and November. Are there any World Cup, Olympic, or AFC tournaments we can enter that won't be in those three months?

Right now we're #83 in the world and 18th in the AFC. Onward and upward, ladies! Laban!

Philippines WNT reach highest ranking Saturday, March 26, 2022 The Philippine Women’s National Team continued its amazing rise, climbing 10 more places to its highest ever position of No. 54 in the latest FIFA rankings released Friday. Buoyed by a historic semifinal finish in the AFC Women’s Asian Cup India 2022, the Filipinas collected 1438.9 points, emerging as the biggest mover from among the women’s national teams in the world. Victories over higher-ranked teams Thailand and Chinese Taipei gave the Filipinas a ticket to the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup, a first for the country. PFF officials lauded the latest achievement by the Filipinas as they inched closer to the Top 50 in the rankings. “It’s really a testament to the hard work and sacrifice of the men and women involved with the team,” said PFF president Mariano Araneta. “From team manager Jefferson Cheng, to the coaches and staff led by coach Alen Stajcic and to the players, the jump in our rankings is a reward for their commitment and effort. We are proud of our team and we hope that this inspires the Filipino football community to continue supporting our teams.” “We have seen the Philippine Women’s National Team’s rise to prominence when they reached the semifinals of the Women’s Asian Cup and eventually qualified for the FIFA Women’s World Cup,” said PFF general secretary Atty. Edwin Gastanes. “The rise in the FIFA rankings fully established the country as one of the elite teams in Asia and this will just further motivate the team in their future challenges.” Team manager Jefferson Cheng said the improvement in the Filipinas’ ranking will challenge and motivate the team to achieve more milestones for the country. “We are happy with the rise in the rankings,” said Cheng. “I think it’s a really great springboard for us as we step up our preparations for competitions this year including the Southeast Asian in Hanoi, Vietnam in May. The team is determined and dedicated to make the country proud.” pff.org.ph/2022/03/26/philippines-wnt-reach-highest-ranking/?fbclid=IwAR2HXnDwtlowkWjmXOsvL1ukNd3OL6Q7f3GXZbDq647B4SqYNn-kfUMMD3k

USA still in front, Philippines on the march The first edition of the FIFA/Coca-Cola Women's World Ranking for 2022 has seen some notable movement, in part due to the traditional friendly tournaments in this period, but also because of the AFC Women's Asian Cup. All told, 146 women's internationals have been played over the last three months. However, this edition’s biggest story comes from Asia, where the top sides battled it out for the continental title and qualifying spots at the FIFA Women's World Cup Australia & New Zealand 2023™. Victory for China PR (16th, +3) secured a ninth Asian crown, a World Cup ticket and a rise of three places in the global standings. Nevertheless, the most remarkable performance was that of Philippines (54th, +10) who, by reaching the semi-finals, ensured an historic maiden appearance on the world stage, their highest ever ranking and the distinction of being the most-improved side in terms of points (+53) and places (+10). www.fifa.com/fifa-world-ranking/women/news/usa-still-in-front-philippines-on-the-march?fbclid=IwAR2rp7HAbc0KxLD-SQSeWltQlDY-MgIrmryIK9DF6xaI_eNqsBY7sGvTDog
