congratz Malditas! i hope that someday, one tv network here in the Philippines would offer them a contract to televised their matches Like the Azkals, if the Malditas continue on winning then perhaps we may see their matches on television. But still no guarantee. It helps though that the Malditas are a gorgeous lot. If our volleybelles are getting the attention of the TV networks, wait till they see the beautiful Malditas.

Hmm, seems their game against Trinidad and Tobago didn't push through as it was removed from the FIFA fixtures, can anyone tell why? Thanks

Trinidad has major financial issues due to corruption. After Haiti and the Vikings pulled out, they probably decided that a game against 85 ranked Philippines was not worth it for them. I think it was a last minute decision. it was worth it for the Malditas because they were able to see a lot of talent and show others that they are "for real". 5 goals for Jessie Shugg. wow!

By Mark Mangune - twitter: markilizerwww.pinoyfootball.com/articles/11101332/Malditas-and-COSMOS-clash-for-LA-Viking-Cup-GoldThe Malditas have a chance to wrap up their California tour in grand style when they vie for the LA Viking Cup Championship on Tuesday, November 27, 2012 at Allen Layne Stadium (Downey High School) in Downey, California. Standing in their way will be the highly talented California COSMOS, a team comprised of local California college players as well as top international players Maribel Dominguez from Mexico and Briddy Alejandra Velasco from Columbia. Kickoff time is 8:00 PM PST. The two teams are no strangers to one another. In preliminary play, the Malditas drew 3-3 with the COSMOS in a highly competitive match. Marisa Park (2) and Alyssa Montejo (1) scored for the Malditas, while Maribel Dominguez scored all 3 goals for the COSMOS. “They’re a very mature and physical team, which heavily relies on #10 Dominguez and their winger #7. We need to be more physical when defending. We need to support each other when defending Maribel (Dominguez). We need to get in her head and take away her space”, said Ernie Nierras, coach of the Malditas. Nierras also added, “We need to continue to improve on our passing game and our finishing. The faster the pace of the game, the better it plays out for us. Cosmos is not in great match shape. Our girls can play 2 consecutive games if needed. Goal keeping is important as well as midfield control. If we play the way we played against Leon, then we should make history tomorrow”. The Malditas are bannered by Natasha Alquiros, Cat Barnekow, Marielle Benitez, Aaren Casimiro, Valaine Confesor, Sarah Cook, Heather Cooke, Christiane Cordero, Mallory Dayot, JoEllen Deleon, Belay Fernando, Patrice Impelido, Cici Kobinski, Abby Komarc, Katherine Lim, Ashley Mejilla, Alyssa Montejo, Rachel Nichols, Sam Nierras, Dominique Oro, Marisa Park, Alena Salsberg, Shelby Salvacion, Olivia Schmitt, Jesse Shugg, and Sharon Whelchel.

MANILA, Philippines - The women's Philippine football team, also known as the Malditas, won the LA Viking Cup Tuesday, November 27 in Los Angeles, after defeating the California Cosmos 4-3 in penalties.
The Malditas tied the Cosmos 1-1 in regular time of the finals, but outshot the professional America-based squad in penalty kicks to take home the title -- posting a final score of 5-4.
The Philippine team, consisting both of local and international players with Filipino heritage, bested the other participating teams of the tournament which included Trinidad and Tobago, the hosts Los Angeles Vikings and the Cosmos. Women national teams and local teams around the world are invited to participate in the friendly tournament.
The win comes after a week-long training by the squad in Los Angeles, where they hosted clinics and recruited about 30 players there, in an effort to find potential overseas talent for the national team. It also follows less than 24 hours after the thrilling victory of the men's Philippine football team over powerhouse Vietnam in the Suzuki Cup.
Soon after the victory, Malditas team captain Marielle Benitez turned to Twitter to celebrate the win, posting, "Yeaaahhhhh!!! LA VIking Cup Champions 2012!! Malditas!!! Sooooo proud!! Battle and Bleed Pilipinas!!!" - Rappler.com www.rappler.com/sports/16908-malditas-win-la-viking-cup
