Finally, a home game for us against Indonesia. A home game that should've happened on our journey during the Suzuki Cup. Post your thoughts on this match here. Azkals host Indonesia in ‘friendly’By Cedelf P. Tupas Philippine Daily Inquirer 10:41 pm | Monday, April 16th, 2012 STEPPING up its buildup for the Suzuki Cup late this year, the Philippines will host Indonesia in an international friendly on June 5 at the Rizal Memorial Stadium. Philippine Football Federation president Mariano “Nonong” Araneta said Indonesia has already confirmed the match even as the PFF awaits confirmation from Thailand for a clash on June 12, also in Manila. “It’s a good chance for us to test our strength against a strong team in Southeast Asia,” Araneta said of the clash against Indonesia, which will mark the first time the two sides will meet since the semifinals of the 2010 Suzuki Cup. The Azkals could have the best lineup possible for the match against the 2010 Suzuki Cup losing finalists as the date falls on the Fifa calendar when clubs are inclined to release players for national team duty. The Indonesians beat the Azkals via 1-0 scorelines in the two-leg semifinals that were played at the cauldron-like Bung Karno Stadium in Jakarta. The Philippines did not have a suitable venue for the Azkals’ home leg. Two matches have already been confirmed for the Philippines in June with the Azkals also facing Malaysia in Kuala Lumpur on June 1. The PFF has also slated a schedule for the Azkals on June 8 possibly against Hong Kong in Bacolod City. sports.inquirer.net/40523/azkals-host-indonesia-in-%E2%80%98friendly%E2%80%99

Laser Pointers. They can't use it. Our security will confiscate it upon entering. If they hide it and use it, Filipino fans will know what to do ;D Will their Ultras go here? I think they will.
Finally it's our revenge against Suzuki Cup . This is the 3rd time PHI will host game vs IDN. The first two game here is PHI lost to them. We'll play the two finalist in 2010 AFF Suzuki Cup.

I apologize in advance for hijacking this thread because for me playing Indonesia is "been there, done that" type of game.
It's nice that we're playing the upper echelon teams in our region and developing rivalries, but I think it's about time we seriously consider inviting ranked teams (100-130) from Central America, the Caribbean, Africa and Central Asian countries and expand our exposure to different style of football. We already know that we can compete against and beat our fellow neighbors, which is why none of them no longer consider us an automatic win. They're cognizant of the fact that when they play us, they're going to expect a competitive game. This despite the fact that we've never had the luxury of assembling our "dream team."
If European clubs can release our top players for FIFA sanctioned games, then we can form a very formidable team which obviously increases our chances of winning. The talent level of our team has improved significantly and I strongly believe that we have excellent chances to beat teams ranked between 100-135. Looking at countries ranked above us, I don't see any reason why we should limit our matches against teams in our continent when we have an our opportunity to expose Philippine football to other football-mad nations, especially Central America and the Caribbean. There's no better time to introduce Philippine football to the rest of the world than when our European-based players are allowed to play for our NT and give the chance for Filipinos living in other regions to see the Azkals play which will only increase our football fanbase and drum up more worldwide support.

It is all about costs. The main reason most countries in the third world, don't play other teams from outside their region frequently, is because it is much more feasible financially for neighboring countries to visit them and vice versa and those countries from Central America which you mentioned are just as limited financially as we are and will have to consider shouldering the much higher cost of flying to the Philippines.
The only way they would consider visiting is if you promise to shoulder their plane fare as well as accommodations plus in the case of the upper echelon teams from South America and Concacaf, you might have to pay an appearance fee as well.
As for our side itself, you have to consider that our team manager with the help of the PFF, is already responsible for shouldering the costs of flying our players from all over the world to the site of the games and normally the host would be responsible for providing accommodations as well paying the rental for the venue for the games.
Considering that we are not a known entity in world football, and might not attract enough fans(except for countries with a large Filipino expatriate population like the Middle East), it might not make sense for them to invite us to play over there.
Ideally the scenario you mentioned would be the best way to prepare this team or any other team for that matter, exposing our players to different styles of play but most of the time it is teams from developed countries or those whose federations have plenty of financial muscle backing them up that can afford to do so regularly.

i still think it is much better to have a match against our neighbors. kasi sila sila din naman makaka harap natin sa qualifications natin eh. need natin maging hari muna sa bakuran natin bago tayo lumaban sa labas

When we face the Indonesians on June 5, They're fresh from their recent tournament in Palestine in May From ASEAN Football: Indonesia’s campaign in an invitational Al-Nakba International Tournament in Palestine will be tough considering that they will have to play matches every two days. “The tournament will begin on 14 May 2012 with matches every two days,” said Widyawan Feriyanto Kodrat, the operation director for the Indonesia national team. “The semi-finals will be played on 20 May 2012 with the final two days later.” Widyawan revealed that in as far as which other teams will be taking part in the tournament, there has been no new development yet although the likes of Iraq, Jordan, Mauritius, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Tunisia and Uzbekistan. The FA of Indonesia (PSSI) have appointed Nil Maizar as the new national chief coach www.aseanfootball.org/?p=8158
They already have new coach. Aji Santoso is facing four match ban and a fine of $6500. They can do it. We are full team here.

PSSI will now get players from break away league ISL for their international matches. So expect the participation of their regular players such as Pamungkas, Gonzales etc.
Our match here will really be awesome.

Most teams participating in the Palestinian Invitational tournament will be fielding U-23 youth teams in preparation for the U-22 qualifiers so the Indonesian team we will be facing probably won't be the same as the one participating in that tournament.

ah. So the Palestinan Invitational Tournament will compose of their U-23 teams? By the way IDN's U-23 coach is suspended for four matches.
I think we will face the team that they sent during the World Cup Qualifiers third round composting of their regular starters since they will get players from ISL and Liga Prima but not the players in their game against BAH that resulted to 10-0 loss for them. The players in their game against BAH all came from Liga Prima

Weiss: Azkals at full strength vs IndonesiaTuesday, 24 April, 2012 Written by Ronnie Nathanielsz AN elated Philippine national football team coach Michael Weiss said the Azkals will be at full strength when they play Indonesia as part of a series of friendly matches against their Southeast Asian neighbors. The Azkals take on the Indonesians on June 5 at the Rizal Memorial Stadium in Manila or at the Panaad stadium in Bacolod City, after facing Malaysia in Kuala Lumpur on May 1. Philippine Football Federation president Nonong Araneta said the Azkals will also possibly meet Thailand or a Middle East country on June 12.“I expect some fantastic games, but these are build-up matches for the Suzuki Cup. This is to study our opponents, we need to make a test here and there to try to do something and also to win because we will be with the strongest team,” said Weiss, who is looking ahead at the friendly matches in June. However, he noted that the Azkals may not be at full strength against Malaysia “because some of the pros are arriving a little bit later, but we will have a very good team and something to look forward to.” He said the Azkals will begin training next week because the players have commitments with the UFL clubs this week. Weiss added that the main preparation will be the camp from May 21 to 28 in Bacolod. Araneta earlier told the Manila Standard that the Azkals’ best players from Europe will be available for the matches against Indonesia and possibly against Thailand or a Middle East country. www.manilastandardtoday.com/2012/04/24/weiss-azkals-at-full-strength-vs-indonesia/
