Let's not take Guam lightly, we know nothing about the Matao so we can't risk it. Football is full of surprises, look what happened to the Netherlands against Denmark. Let's field the best we have, aim for goals then experiment. My take: 4-4-2 with 6 players for promotional substitutes:

Azkals eye big performance versus GuamBy Cedelf P. Tupas Philippine Daily Inquirer 4:45 am | Monday, June 11th, 2012 BACOLOD CITY—With the Philippine Azkals coming off back-to-back draws against top Southeast Asian sides, striker Phil Younghusband believes a comprehensive victory against lightweight Guam tomorrow will be enough to underscore the progress of their team. The country’s leading international scorer yesterday said only a scoreline of at least 3-0 will be satisfying for the Azkals, who will be a facing a team more than 50 places lower than the Philippines in the Fifa rankings at the Panaad Stadium here. “The rankings can be deceiving. It’s difficult because we don’t know which Guam team will show up, or whether or not they will play defensive just like Mongolia,” said Younghusband, referring to the Azkals’ last match here last year when they beat Mongolia, 2-0. Azkals coach Michael Weiss said there should be no letup from his side, which held Malaysia to a scoreless draw last June 2 and Indonesia to a 2-2 standoff last June 5. Younghusband, left out of the starting eleven against Indonesia, and older brother, James, as well as goalkeeper Neil Etheridge are expected to line up against the Guamanians. sports.inquirer.net/47991/azkals-eye-big-performance-versus-guam

I'd like to see Angel Guirado dropped from the team vs. Guam.... IMO, he wastes too much time ball-hogging and tries to be Ronaldinho when he isn't.... I hope he doesn't read this, but I bet you this was why he couldn't start in the Tercera division. He's great for our team regardless though.
Also, I hope Azkals make Panaad their permanent home for the rest of they year. The support for the team in Bacolod is much greater than in Manila. Or so I'd think based on my relatives in the Philippines.
Also, reading up on one of the linked articles, reason why Visayas don't have many players in the squad is because all of the UFL is in the North. The only people that play at the Philippines' "highest" level is up there in Luzon. Only way to fix that is the Visayas (minus Cebu) either force teams into the UFL or the UFL opens to them. I hope one of those options happen ASAP. Nothing will move unless they are proactive (unless of course the UFL won't budge out of Luzon despite protests).

Guam's Team "Matao in the Philippines Ready to Face the "Azkals"
Written by Jill Espiritu Monday, 11 June 2012 12:45 Guam - The Matao, Guam men’s national soccer team, set foot for the first time in Panaad Stadium in Bacolod City Sunday evening, getting a feel for the venue of what may be the team’s biggest international game to date. The Matao will take on the Azkals, the pride of Philippine football, in the same stadium many Filipinos remember a 2-0 monumental win over Mongolia in the first leg of the 2012 AFC Challenge Cup qualifier. The Philippines went on to qualify for the tournament and finish in third place overall. During this successful run, the Azkals lifted the Philippines almost 20 places in FIFA rankings. Although considered a friendly match, the outcome may affect Guam’s place in the FIFA world rankings. Guam currently is No. 194 and the Philippines No. 149, the FIFA Web site states. The match will take place on Tuesday, which coincides with Philippine Independence Day. “We feel very welcomed here in Bacolod and for me personally, it makes me more anxious to play against the Azkals,” said Anthony Paulino, a Matao midfielder/defender who will enter the University of Washington in the fall. “I expect the match to be very competitive and I’m looking forward to it." The Matao had its first training session in the stadium in front of dozens of curious residents, who after the session, lined up to take photos and request for autographs from the team. For one lucky fan, head coach Gary White and the team rewarded her persistence for a souvenir with an autographed ball. The Bacolod City resident stated that she would give the ball as a gift to her brother, who is a very big fan of football. White also was interviewed by an ABS-CBN correspondent. The news group also stayed during the session to take video footage of the Guam team. Later in the evening, White was approached by a reporter from the Philippine Inquirer for an impromptu interview. A press conference has been scheduled for Monday afternoon. The Matao will have one rest day before the big game Tuesday evening. Posters advertising the match line up the main streets in Bacolod City, as the media hype continues to grow for the match. The Azkals are coming off of two draws in friendly matches against Malaysia and Indonesia in a week’s time. Philippine coach Michael Weiss has been quoted in Philippine media that he will start his “top team” against Guam following his team’s draw against Indonesia June 5. Also slated for the Matao during its weeklong training trip are matches against Global FC and the Stallions, two professional football clubs in the Philippines’ United Football League, June 14 and 16, respectively. pacificnewscenter.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=24446%3Aguams-team-qmatao-in-the-philippines-ready-to-face-the-qazkalsq&catid=38%3Asports-news&Itemid=152

^i agree with you. whenever we have a good play from our midfield and Angel received the ball, expect him to dribble it instead of passing it to other teammates. he tends to force the ball forward against 2 to 3 defenders. sometimes he also had some bad decision making like shooting the ball poorly. but we need him because of his workrate. i can say that these things won't help our offense
where is captain Aly? i thought he will be part of the squad, he is in bacolod right now with the team

Sorry to interrupt you bud but I guess you have it wrong. Most of the "Better" players in the UFL are from the Visayas. If you follow the League you will know which "local" players make their mark. These players are all from the south just to name a few, Jake Morallo - Loyola, Arnie Pasinabo & Tating Pasilan - GAU, Yannick Tuason & Joshua Beloya -Kaya, Jinggoy Valmayor -Diliman, Jerry Barbaso & Paolo Pascual -Global, Armed forces Teams - GIVEN! Almost all of their players are from the South. Stallions: Same all from Ilo-ilo. The other teams mostly foreign players.. Nomads, Pasargad, UIM, Soccerroo, MAJ.. The TOP 3 Teams we know who their players are.. and one more thing the only locals left in the squad Chieffy, Ian, Sacapano, Margarse, Gener heck even Dan Palami are all from the Visayas.. PEACE! ;D

Azkals battle Guam in Panaad tomorrowBy Butch Bacaoco Monday, June 11, 2012 THE Philippine national men’s football team Azkals will rely on its much vaunted offense in their game against the national team of Guam at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Panaad Park and Stadium, Mansilingan, Bacolod City. “We will attack early and put pressure on our opponents,” disclosed Azkals coach Michael Weiss during the press conference Sunday at Luxor Place, Bacolod City where the team is billeted. Have something to report? Tell us in text, photos or videos. With Weiss during the presscon were Azkals poster boys James and Phil Younghusband and Junie Lizares, president of the Visayas Football League which sponsors the event. Lizares thanked Negros Occidental Gov. Alfredo G. Marañon for his overwhelming support for football. “Gov. Marañon has been very supportive of football and its development in Negros. Within his support, it is impossible for us to host such an event here in the province,” said Lizares. The Younghusband brothers are very excited to play again in Panaad. “The support, warmth and love of the fans here before, during and after the game give us greater stamina and strength,” the Younghusbands chorused when they were asked what their ‘homecoming’ in Bacolod means to them. Tuesday’s game against Guam caps the Azkals’ three-nation friendly games. Last June 1, the team held Southeast Asian Games and AFF Suzuki Cup champion Malaysian Tigers to a scoreless draw at the Shah Alam Stadium in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The Azkals also settled for a 2-2 draw against the visiting Indonesians at the Rizal Memorial Stadium last June 5. Guam is ranked number 194 by FIFA (International Federation of Football Association) while the Philippines is ranked number 149. “We always respect our opponents. No match is won with words. The truth comes out in the football pitch,” said Weiss. “We will take advantage of our strong offense but we will also focus on our defense,” citing the lapse which allowed Indonesia to score its second goal during their June 5 match. Weiss readily credited the Indons’ brilliant counterattack for their first goal. The German coach said that the team has grown tremendously since he first handled the Azkals during the 2005 SEA Games here in Panaad but he concedes that there are still many areas to improve in the team’s game in preparation for the Suzuki Cup in November. Among other event sponsors are ABS-CBN, Smart Communications, Pepsi Cola, Gatorade, Nature's Spring, Kia, SVG Fertiplus, Havainnas and Libresse. Tickets for the game start at P200, P400, P600 and P1,000. Fans who opt for the P1,000 and P600 tickets are guaranteed with reserved seats at the grandstand. “The tickets are just enough for the seating capacity of the stadium. We urge Negrense football fans to get your tickets early to ensure you have an available seat and that you don’t run out of tickets during the game itself,” said Lizares. Tickets are available at Luxur Place, Mushu, Robinsons Place, Sky Cable, Seeds Outlets, Scrubbles at 888 China Town Square, Shakey's Lacson, Café Bobs, ABS CBN and the Provincial Tourism Office. On game day, June 12, tickets will also be available for sale at Panaad starting 9 a.m. Published in the Sun.Star Bacolod newspaper on June 11, 2012. www.sunstar.com.ph/bacolod/sports/2012/06/11/azkals-battle-guam-panaad-tomorrow-226225

Let's not take Guam lightly, we know nothing about the Matao so we can't risk it. Football is full of surprises, look what happened to the Netherlands against Denmark. Let's field the best we have, aim for goals then experiment. My take: 4-4-2 with 6 players for promotional substitutes: angel as a sub and Mulders to play CAM. That would be my first XI

Team Guam Soccer heading to PI Posted: Jun 11, 2012 12:19 AM CDT Updated: Jun 11, 2012 3:36 AM CDT Video Gallery Get to know Team Guam Soccer 2:55 by Dave Delgado Guam - Our Men's National Soccer Team held a meet and greet training session at the Leo Palace Soccer Field before heading to the Philippines for competition. Team Guam will be facing the Azkals who are the Philippines National Soccer Team and play two other matches against professional club teams in the P.I. Gary White, Team Guam's head coach, said, "Our style of play will be very attacking minded. It's an opportunity for us to try new things and try out our players and utilize this event to prepare for the East Asian Football Championships here on Guam in July. We are going to go out there and attack which is a little bit different than what Guam is used to playing. We are going to go out there and take the game to them. The way the Matao plays, is we like to be aggressive and dictate the tempo of the game. We play the Azkals on the 12th and then we play against Global FC on the 14th and then the Stallions FC on the 16th, both professional clubs in Manila. We are very prepared and very focused and coming up here for camp up here in Leo Place is perfect for us. It allows them to get away from their stressful lives at home and anything that is allowing them from not getting focused. The GFA has invested in this team and their minds are right and the players are ready and this is exciting stuff for us." The team is stacked with young talent with several players back home from school where they play for different universities. For veteran player and team captain Jason Cunliffe he says that the strength on the team will be their youth and will to win and represent our island proudly. The against the Azkals will be played in the Panaad Stadium, where many Filipinos remember it as the site the Philippine national team defeated Mongolia 2-0 in the AFC Challenge Cup qualifier in February of last year. The Azkals eventually secured third place in the 2012 AFC Challenge Cup. Jason Cunliffe, Team Guam captain, said, "Going into the matches in the P.I we have been working on our shape, a lot of pressing and covering. We are playing a very attacking minded game a very modern style of football. So we have just been working on cleaning everything up, just the last few details. We are very prepared and looking forward to it. One of our advantages is we have a lot of young guys, I'm the oldest player on the team at 28 and everybody else is 25 and under. I believe the average age of our team is 20 and a half so we are very young and inexperience but at the same time these guys believe, we believe in the system and the program and we are ready to show the world what we are about to do." The guys are excited to get on the field and show their opponents the new style of Guam Football. And goalkeeper Dallas Jaye said, "Representing Guam has brought me a lot of pride and I get to represent my family and Chamorro roots and I think as a team collectively were looking forward to just showing the world what we are about. We are representing for the island and for our fans and for our people and we are very excited for this trip." www.kuam.com/story/18751557/get-to-know-team-guam-soccerIn this article, they mention that the average age of the Guam team is 20 and a half and apparently Coach White is planning to employ an attack minded strategy which I think is a mistake. If they do this, they are going to be outmatched by a Philippine team consisting largely of experienced professionals, and things could get ugly for them.
