^ Yeah.
If we have our complete lineup with the likes of Etheridge-Jonsson-Borromeo-Gier-del Rosario-Caligdong-Ott-Schrock-JY'husband-Guirado-PY'husband-Mulders-de Jong-Lucena-Cagara-Muller, I say heck yeah.

I would say no , because half of the players you mention will not be playing in AFC Challenge Cup...

Azkals need rock-solid team for AFC By Olmin Leyba (The Philippine Star) Updated October 13, 2011 12:00 AM Comments (3) SHARE: facebook yahoo! buzz The Azkals parade after winning against Nepal at the Rizal Memorial football field. JUN MENDOZA | Zoom MANILA, Philippines - After ending their 2011 campaign with a 4-0 rout of Nepal Tuesday night, the Philippine Azkals hope to assemble a team that’s as competitive as the full-strength side that played two recent international friendlies for next year’s AFC Challenge Cup. The Azkals took advantage of the Fifa international match days from Oct. 7-11 to bring in Europe-based players Neil Etheridge, Rob Gier, Jerry Lucena, Jerry Cagara and Paul Mulders for Phl’s friendlies with Singapore and Nepal. During Fifa calendar days, clubs tend to release players to their national teams. But since the Challenge Cup slated March 3-18, 2012 in Nepal is not in the Fifa calendar, Phl football officials may have to double their efforts to convince the Euro clubs to let their players re-join the Azkals in that meet. “There’s no assurance yet that they’ll be available for the Challenge Cup so we’ll try to talk to the clubs to release the players,” Philippine Football Federation president Nonong Araneta said. He said the plan is to ask for a club player like Mulders or Stephan Schrock for only one game or two, not the entire run of the Challenge Cup. The Azkals will play three games in the eliminations and an additional two if they reach the semifinals. “The (Euro-based) players themselves are looking forward to coming back, and they will help us talk to their clubs and try to work out an arrangement,” Araneta said. The Azkals have returned to their respective local and foreign clubs and are set to return to camp by January 2012. Araneta said the PFF will try to set more international friendlies next year. “Cohesion is still one of our main concerns. The talent, skills are there but we still need more games to play together to be very competitive,” he said. www.philstar.com/sportsarticle.aspx?articleid=736873&publicationsubcategoryid=69As this article says, team management is going to try to convince our player's clubs to release their players for the AFC Challenge Cup next year even though these games are not scheduled on FIFA match dates. The chances of the team winning in that tournament will depend upon how successful they will be in convincing our player's clubs about the importance of releasing them, even for a few games. This is going to be difficult since it is near the end of the season and clubs might be fighting for promotion or avoiding relegation at this time. But at least they are going to make the effort.

That will be the time we start using most of our Philippine based players including the U23ers. Maybe our lower tiered players like Oliver P, Rob Gier? and 3rd stringers (Roland Mueller). Thank God for the recently concluded friendlies and coming U23 games, we have a deeper pool now than arguably any point in the past. It should be fun for Philippine soccer fans next year!

I wonder why the AFC chose to schedule the Challenge Cup when leagues all over the world are ongoing?

Which is why I'd expect Roland to be playing here and not Neil. We better pray also that Greuther Furth seal the 2.Bundesliga crown by end of Feb, too, to ensure that Schrock is available.
I'd like to see Kevin Ingreso in the competition.

The biggest shakeup we'd never expected to happen before the Challenge Cup: Aly Borromeo being sidelined for an ACL injury!
Sad sad news, our captain Aly Borromeo tore his ACL in our game today. (vs. Diliman FC) Please pray for his safe and speedy recovery! Despite being sidelined for a while you'll always be our Captain in Kaya FC and for the Azkals! Get well soon @alybor11!
On the other hand, Chieffy Caligdong is being reported to recuperating to leg injuries he sustained in the LTC and the friendlies, although not as serious as Aly's. He might not start in the Air Force vs. Navy game next week.
As for Anton del Rosario, he is less than match fit for me since he is still tad slow during the Kaya vs Diliman game, after he sustained a MCL injury last month during practice with the club.
A lot of questions will be raised: Who will then lead the back line? Will James YH or Oliver Poetschke finally fill Aly's place beside (or even replace) Gier? Is Anton still match fit for the National Team? Will Chieffy still don the Captain's armband? Will he give it to someone else? Neil Etheridge? Phil Younghusband? Jason de Jong? How will the national team management react with this unexpected circumstance?
Your sentiments here.

Between now and the AFC Cup, and UFL competition Anton d will be match fit or there's something wrong. As for who will replace the Capt, well leadership isn't quantifiable, that will depend on who has the leadership trait in that team. Either way I hope Aly does get well soon, his 'command presence' can't be easily replaced.
As for our lineup, we are deeper now more than ever with local, American and Euro players, there's got to be a combination there for the back 4 that won't have too much of a drop in skill and capability even without the Capt.

This is a big blow to our AFC Challenge Cup hopes. It is even more important now that we get our European based players on the team. Lucena played the centerback position quite well in our friendlies so I would put him there. Anyways, Get well soon Aly.

This is a big blow to our AFC Challenge Cup hopes. It is even more important now that we get our European based players on the team. Lucena played the centerback position quite well in our friendlies so I would put him there. ...which will be a bigger dilemma now that Aly is sidelined, pair that with the reality that the clubs of a few of our key Euro-players are struggling as of now. For instance, Fulham of Neil Etheridge is struggling as they are in the borderline of the relegation zone in the Premier League. SpVgg Greuther Fuerth of Stephan Schroeck is currently at the top of the 2.Bundesliga and wants to keeps it that way for them to be promoted to the 1st Division. MSV Duisburg of Roland Mueller is currently in the borderline of the relegation zone in the same division of the Bundesliga. These situations will greatly mean a bigger demand for them as they are the hopes of these struggling clubs. That will translate to lesser chances for them to be released for international duty. And a lesser chance for us to gain the Cup next year. Good thing our team is getting deeper than ever before with locally-based players doing impressive jobs. Even without Aly, I will be confident if ever the backline will get stronger and the midfield will have more options to take. Get well soon, el Capitan.
