..... Perhaps our guys can shoot from farther out instead of forcing the issue in the box. Phil's initial attempts could have slipped passed the Indon keeper if the ball had more power behind it. Add to that that the Indon defence seems to panic on the rebound, which might give Araneta, Greatwich, and the other guys second chances. ..... The Indonesians are weak in the air... Also their keeper is not so solid... we should let balls rain down on the Indons box... But I also wonder if we could withstand the 90 minutes running ;D

Very proud of our Azkals! they played well...I also though they would just stand and defend but they really took the game to the Indo's. The first 30 mins was an all out Azkals attack. Atleast The Indo's know they cannot push the Azkals around and that this is now a very different side that lost suffered a heavy 13-1 loss in 2002. Being in this situation I think Coach Mcmenemy will motiovate his players to attack even more on Sunday because we are the doing the chasing but also the Azkals have proven they are certainly capable of going head to head with the Indo's even giving they're defenses many scare.
On a Side note we need to improve on our attack upfront and we need to have more presence if not dominance in the midfield as this is where the ball is won or loss..Remember more possession mean more opportunities if you don't waste it of course.
I think Azkals should also use more of they're size/height advantage out there. I think will see a more attack oriented Azkals on Sunday and we can still do it I believe. GO AZKALS!!

^ Yeah, I also believe we'll see more attacks from the Azkals tomorrow. They can't sit and defend and hope for a draw since that will knock them out. Let's hope the breaks go their way, it would be awesome if they reached the Finals, especially if it's going to be against Vietnam as they have an axe to grind. It makes things more exciting. With that, I'll just leave this here-- for the LULZ.

Well, we can forget a rematch with Vietnam for this tournament. Malaysia eliminated them!
Not much as much drama if we make it to the finals against Malaysia. But let's get through Indonesia first... ;D

Pinoys around the world are asking if there's a live stream on the Internet of tonight's match so they can still support the Azkals. Does anyone know of such a stream?

^ Oo nga! Sayang since meeting Vietnam in the final would have been like a best-of-three (we have one win over them already). God, I hope that graphic doesn't, in any way, turn out to be "prophetic". S#1t... I would love nothing more than for our Azkals to get to the top!
GO AZKALS!!!

Full time Indonesia 1-0 Philippines Good solid play from the Azkals, going all offensive in the second half. Just wasn't our night. Great goal by Gonzales in the first half right to the top left corner. No way Neil could've saved that.

A few points:
1) Very, very proud of our boys. Victory would have been better, but to have reached all the way to the semis is an excellent achievement.
2) We played great football, but lacked finishing. Many times we had the best chances, the easiest of touches could have gotten us more than a couple of goals. Very unfortunate not to have scored them.
3) The officials are idiots, they've been against us since the start of the tournament.
4) If we played this well away and in front of 80,000 who are against us, what would have happened if we played at home? Something to think about.

Sad. But that was a mighty fine game played by the Azkals, it's just that the breaks didn't go our way this time. They had the drive to push the ball to the Indonesian half and were able to sustain that drive to the final whistle. Brilliant strike by Gonzales! But darn, I've never felt this sad from witnessing a Philippine loss. You'd think that after all these years, you'll be used to it; but this is a different time and a different level.
We'll get them next time. GO AZKALS!!!

Mike Limpag (Kaligo) wrote a passionate piece in his blog entitled “I believe” which encapsulated what the long-suffering supporters of the national team have gone through and why we are so proud of this bunch of unlikely heroes. I suggest you check it out if you haven’t yet ( football.cebunetwork.com/i-believe/2010/12/#more-1337). And like many here who love the game, who played the game for years, and who have been long-suffering supporters of our national team even before the Fil-foreigners came into the fold, this is all I can say: We lost. But what a great ride this tournament has been. Thank you Azkals, thank you Dan Palami and everybody who believed in this rag-tag bunch of scrappers. Above all other sports, gaining respect in football matters so much to us because this is the sport that the world plays. Not basketball, not baseball, not rugby. Football. Win or lose, by getting to the semi-finals despite all the odds stacked against them, the Azkals have already accomplished what we thought was impossible. In the space of a few days they had put football squarely in the spotlight and brought much-needed attention to the plight of football in our country. And like Pacman and our other sports heroes they made us proud to be Pinoy. They walked into a hostile boiling cauldron that is the Gelora Bung Karno Stadium and played their hearts out and never gave up. Our Azkals, resolute specks of blue in a sea of red. Never has the name been so apt. Underfunded, living off scraps, hell, even the PFF president was against them. Azkals. Sure, we still have a lot to sort out. We need to sort out our PFF. We need more quality players. We need a proper league. Etc, etc, etc. But when these things fall into place, then watch out Indonesia, watch out Thailand, watch out Malaysia, watch out Singapore. We will be coming for you.
