Rob Gier and Neil Etheridge have indicated that they are on their way to Cambodia to join the team. Schrock may also be available for the Laos and Singapore friendlies apparently because his team allowed him to join on account of him receiving a red card in his last game. It seems that Hoffenheim is more open to lending their players out for international friendlies than other teams our players are a part of. It helps that Schrock is extremely motivated to play for the Azkals. It bodes well for his possible participation in the Suzuki Cup especially since he is currently not an automatic starter for his club. www.abs-cbnnews.com/sports/09/03/12/azkals-may-get-schrock-laos-singapore-friendliesWith the availability of Lucena in some of these games, the team is looking a lot stronger in these series of SEA friendlies.

With the quality of players involved we should be giving Cambodia a decent fight. Of course, we will have to combat "lack-of-cohesion" and "jet lag" again but I guess that's what this particular friendly is for, plus to buffer the suspension damage. It'll be an interesting match, for sure. I hope a star among our second-stringers will be born!

this is my first 11 for tomorrow's game i thought Uy and Omphroy will be playing? plus Jonsson and Cagara are not available, i would insert Basa in our LB. he is doing well with his club Global, i don't want to see Christaens in this position again my prediction, 3-1 Philippines! ;D

He of all the mids should be a solid starter. But yeah without the suspension of course. I think Patrick R. can sub Mulders in the later part same as Christaens for Caligdong.

if James can play tomorrow then i would include him in the first 11 but if not, Reichelt or Christaens can be a good replacement. Bahadoran seems unproductive and tends to hold and force to dribble the ball against 2 or 3 defenders, but i have a feeling that Misagh will start tomorrow

So if suspensions are upheld, who's going to coach the team against Cambodia? Most likely the assistant coach, Cabalida.

Moore's thoughts about PHI vs CAM line-up Azkals squad list released for Southeast Asia tourROY MOORE September 4, 2012 3:42pm The Azkals have landed in Cambodia, where they will begin their tour of Southeast Asia, facing off against Cambodia, Singapore, and Laos in preparation for the Suzuki Cup at the end of the year. The Philippines will play Cambodia tomorrow (September 5), before quickly flying into Singapore to face the Lions on Wednesday, September 7. Their final game will see them battle Laos, which finished ahead of the Philippines in the 2010 Suzuki Cup Qualification round, on Monday, September 10. Squad listPerhaps most encouraging in the squad list is the inclusion of several players flying in from their European clubs. Jerry Lucena and Paul Mulders will be available in the center of midfield, while Stephan Schröck is looking to fly in for the games against Singapore and Laos after being sent off in his debut for German Bundesliga side Hoffenheim. Here is the squad list for the game against Cambodia as released by the official Azkals website: Goalkeepers: Neil Leonard Etheridge, Eduard Sacapano, Ref Delany Cuaresma Defenders: David Mark Basa, Robert James Gier, Jason Abbott Sabio, Carlos Alberto Martinez de Murga, Jerry Ruben Lucena, Roel Gener
Midfielders: Marwin Angeles, Marvin Angeles, Misagh Bahadoran, Emelio Caligdong, Jeffrey Christiaens, Jason Nicolas Maria De Jong, Nestorio Margarse Jr., Paul Mulders, Jose Elmer Porteria, James Joseph Younghusband*, Andres Crisanto Gonzales, Patrick Reichelt
Forwards: Ian Araneta, Denis Wolf, Philip James Younghusband *to be confirmed pending decision of Disciplinary Committee With James Younghusband unlikely to be available for the first match, Global teammates Misagh Bahadoran and Patrick Reichelt will be vying for the starting spot on the right wing. Paul Mulders and Jerry Lucena, meanwhile, are likely to partner in the center with Chieffy taking his spot on the left. Competition for places in midfield is fierce with the Angeles twins, Jason De Jong and Anto Gonzales in the squad too. Once more the midfield is stacked, with half of the players in the squad listed as midfielders. Ref Cuaresma joins the squad with Ed Sacapano, but neither are likely to displace first choice keeper Neil Etheridge. However, in attack, there are only three strikers. Denis Wolf will be available after being reprimanded, following the PFF Disciplinary Committee’s findings. The young OJ Porteria can play up front too, so he may be able to play back-up in case of injury to either of the strikers, but this does suggest some problems with depth. Defensively, once more, is where the Azkals have the biggest problem. With only Lucena, Sabio, and Gier as recognized center backs, there is little in reserve in case of injury, with all three likely to start the game against Cambodia as Lucena can also play defensive midfielder. Carli De Murga is also the only natural right back, while Basa and Gener are still likely to be on the bench in favor of Jeffrey Christiaens, as the Azkals’ management continue his transition from winger to left back. Despite the lack of depth in defense and attack, the wealth of options in midfield is expected to cover this. Moreover, the games against Cambodia and Laos see the Azkals as heavy favorites, as they look to cement their place in the top echelons of football in the region. The match against Singapore will be much more competitive, though, and sees a team falling in the rankings facing off against the rising Azkals, who could well cement their places and expectations ahead of the Suzuki Cup. Projected line-up against Cambodia: Etheridge De Murga Sabio Gier Christiaens Bahadoran Lucena Mulders Chieffy

Azkals test progress versus CambodiansBy Cedelf P. Tupas Philippine Daily Inquirer 10:25 pm | Tuesday, September 4th, 2012 PHNOM PENH—The Philippines’ buildup for the AFF Suzuki Cup makes a stop in this quaint city by the Mekong River, evoking memories of the long and tough grind the Azkals went through two years ago. The Filipinos face an old foe in the Cambodians at 6 p.m. on Wednesday in a friendly at National Olympic Stadium here. It will mark the first clash between the two sides since they played to a scoreless draw in the AFF Suzuki Cup qualifying in Vientiane, Laos. While the Azkals advanced to the main tournament because of the standoff, the Cambodians were stalled on goal difference. “We barely survived them last time, so it’s going to be interesting how far both teams have progressed since then,” said Azkals manager Dan Palami. The Azkals will be armed to the teeth with Europe-based Neil Etheridge, Paul Mulders and Jerry Lucena playing. James Younghusband is suspended for the game by the PFF Disciplinary Committee. Coach Michael Weiss and Palami, who were both slapped with two-game bans for a “failure in leadership” during the incident that led to the complaint of AFC match commissioner Cristy Ramos, have also appealed their sanctions. Nonetheless, Weiss believes his team is in good shape. “The team should be in a very good condition,” said Weiss, whose team will visit Singapore on Friday and Laos on Monday. sports.inquirer.net/60798/azkals-test-progress-versus-cambodians?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter
