This last game will be the most crucial game since PHI and TPE are the favorite to win the cup. But we have home advantage. This could be exciting game

I'll be giddy if TPE's Euro-players Xavier Chen and Victor Chou will be in this match! Hahaha! Perfect test against our Euro-born reliables.

If the national football team of the Philippines are the AZKALS, and Guam are the MATAO, what is the football team nickname of the Chinese Taipei national team? They don't really have a nickname or monicker. Most of the Taiwanese would called them "中華隊" ( Chung-hwa Tuei, "Republic of China Team").

Most European and Latin American national teams don't have an official nickname or monicker, and the unofficial ones they have reffer mostly to the colors of their uniform or are simply shortened terms of "selection" or "national team" in their local languages (also the local way of calling each nationality): Argentina - La albiceleste (the white and sky blue one) Brazil - Canarinho (little canary) / A seleção (the selection) / Verde-amarela (Green and yellow) Chile - La roja (the red one) Mexico - El tri [short for " el tricolor"] (the tricolored one) El Salvador - La selecta (The selected one) Spain - La furia roja (the red fury) Italy - Gli Azzurri (the blues) Germany - Die Nationalelf (the national team) / Die Mannschaft (the team, this is used mostly by non-Germans) Netherlands - OranjeUruguay - La celeste (The sky blue one) France - Les Bleus (The blues) / Les Tricolores (The tri-colors) I think those kind of nicknames, even if generic, are way cooler, even though I enjoy some animal-related or folcloric nicknames from the African countries. ;D Cameroon: Les lions indomptables (The indomitable lions) Côte d'Ivoire: Les Éléphants (the elephants) Egypt: الفراعنة (The pharaohs) Algeria: الأفنــاك / Les fennecs (Fennec foxes) Ghana: The black stars South Africa: Bafana bafana (boys boys?) Angola: Os palancas negras (the black antelopes) And I know some related to their music culture, specially in the West Indies Bermuda: the Gombey Warriors Jamaica: The reggae boyz Trinidad & Tobago: Soca Warriors Antigua & Barbuda: the Wadadi Boyz I dunno too much about Asian nicknames...

I saw this comment on the CTFA Facebook page (translated):
"The overall strength of the Philippines has been stronger than our complete national team (I think he meant to include Xavier Chen), Guam has been very intelligent, refueled with a strong coach! Good luck!"

Did you know we've played Chinese Taipei 6 times and they beat us 9-0 in 1967? Our record against them is 0-3-3. We've never beaten them!

Hard to say. Hopeful for a victory, but no shame in a Draw, considering we lack striking power up front.

Well then, i think the only problem now is Guam. I highly doubt we would witness a repeat of our 3-nil shutout in Bacolod.

Taipei sending us mixed signals...beaten guam. They are surely capable of scoring.
Dangerous still, must win since taipei has 4pts we have 6.. I think this will be the true test for Azkals, since pressure is on them still, as taiwan breathing just below them.
Reichelt and wolf enormous confidence in the final game, but Chieffy and our line of defense will spell the difference against taipei. This will be intense.

Azkalfutboleros, I think a draw will be enough for our team to win the Cup. Though they should go for a win, playing for a draw is dangerous and could backfire. At least in this case, Chinese Taipei is forced to win so they need to look for that goal and can't sit back to play on the counter. A more open game will likely favor the Azkals. They can be patient and don't need to rush things thereby lowering the possibility of making errors or creating gaps that Chinese Taipei can take advantage of.
On Saturday, I want silverware and playing beautifully is secondary. Philippine football needs this milestone.

Agree, though i dont want our team to settle for a draw, it would be better for the Manilenos in general to witness the young Azkals win unblemished and with a clean sheet, (Sacapano deserves that captain armband and clean sheet)
But yeah i think Taipei will be forced to go higher up the pitch since they should win, and that will create more chances and space for us up front to counter and score.
