The team played better than what I expected, especially in the 2nd half. The YH brothers really were out to prove something. Phil played more like a rightwing MF than a striker. It could easily have been 3-0 if Wolf converted those 2 headers from Phil's accurate crosses. We really need one more very good finisher.

For someone who was not able to watch the game... I hope we could have a resident football genius who can review the game like a coach and read the game formations at the start of the game and the how the coaches made adjustment at the half... I heard PYH sub in for Chieffy was he playing left mid or JYh for Christaens....

Lol! ;D Line-up: Sacapano Jonsson -- Gier -- Juani -- Christaens Omphroy -- Greatwich -- JDJ -- Chieffy Reichelt -- Wolf
Subs: Reichelt moved back on LM to replace Chieffy.. Phil played as a withdrawn striker partnering with Wolf. James YH played RM while Omphroy moved back to RB. Christaens was subbed out and it was Ray Jonsson who moved from RB to LB. Angeles replaced Greatwich. Beloya for Reichelt They were playing a 4-4-2 / 4-5-1 formation

Sacapaño shines as PH Azkals tame Singapore LionsBy Dennis Gasgonia, ABS-CBNnews.com Posted at 11/15/2012 9:48 PM | Updated as of 11/15/2012 10:59 PM MANILA, Philippines (UPDATE) – The Philippine Azkals rode on a flawless performance by goalkeeper Eduard Sacapaño to beat the Singapore Lions in their friendly game in Cebu on Thursday night. Marwin Angeles scored the match's lone goal for the Azkals' 1-0 win against the Lions. Angeles slid in a goal in the 54th minute after receiving a short pass from Patrick Reichelt off a long cross by Phil Younghusband. But it was Sacapano's fortitude on goal against Singapore's attacks that wowed the Filipino crowd at the Cebu City Sports Complex. The 32-year-old Ilonggo, whose penalty save against Chinese Taipei helped the Azkals win the Peace Cup last September, first blocked a long range shot from the Lions in the 27th minute. Sacapano also thwarted Shi Jiayi’s penalty kick with a superb diving save to keep the Singaporeans goalless in the first half. In the second half, the Lions brought in their best player Alexander Duric to boost their offensive front. However, this proved to be useless against the Filipino's determined defense. In the 73rd minute, Philippine Army goalkeeper again denied the Lions by foiling a free kick that sailed over the Azkals’ defensive wall. Sacapano was named as the man of the match. “Natuwa naman ako sa depensa ko, nandyan pa rin si Robert (Gier) at si Juani Guirado,” he said after the game. “Laking tulong ng dalawa sa gitna sa akin, lalo akong nagkumpiyansa dahil sa dalawang iyon.” Sacapano could be the Azkals' first-choice shotstopper in the 2012 Suzuki Cup, depending on the availability of his fellow keepers Roland Mueller and Neil Etheridge. "Big thing actually for me na bago kami lumaro sa Suzuki cup, at least nakapag-laro ako against Singapore." When asked if it was the best performance in his career, Sacapano only smiled and said, "Maybe." Singapore was trying to avenge its 2-0 loss to the Filipinos in a previous friendly last September. But despite gaining more ball possession against the Azkals, the Lions could not convert their attempts against the Filipinos' back line. Singapore tallied a total of 13 shots on target against the Philippines’ 6. The Filipinos only had 9 attempts at the goal, while the Singaporeans registered 13 attempts. The Lions also had more goal possession with 51% against the Azkals’ 49%. The win has given the Filipino booters confidence before they plunge into the 2012 Suzuki Cup that kicks off on November 24. www.abs-cbnnews.com/sports/11/15/12/sacapa%C3%B1o-shines-ph-azkals-tame-singapore-lions

Why Araneta's goal not counted? offside? Etheridge will not play in Suzuki cup, Muller? doubtful pa so Sacapaño will be great. Schrock will probably play if we reached semis. Also, is A. Guirado will not play whole tourney too?

just got home from CCSC. man what a game, full of end to end action. the problem is we cannot see the replay of each actions like when the referee gave the SG a penalty. was that really a foul? a friend of mine told me that it was not foul base in the slowmo replay.
i was impressed by Sacapano, saves after saves. first from the penalty and also that crucial free-kicks that he parried away. if it had not been for him Singapore could have scored at least 2 or 3 goals. but we were also not lucky.
Wolf had his moments, 2 wonderful headers but the first header was saved and the second one hits the woodwork. it would be nice to sleep if we won it 3-0 had wolf made his 2 attempts. but i will take the result as from this match Singapore deserves a goal but we made our stops. congrats guys!

Maganda yun ginawa ni coach Weiss na pabantayan ni Juani si Duric sa 2nd half, at kung malampasan ni Duric si Juani sa depensa dumadating agad si Rob Geir.

strikerbon, that shouldn't be a foul. Well still ok. It gave rise to Sacapano's great save BTW I watched the game on TV
Based on my observation, stadium is in full capacity. Cebu has much more football atmosphere than Manila. Visayan fans really enjoyed their 1st live action in the Central Visayan province As Burrows tweeted: craigburrows"RT @princegershom: Aside from Manong Ed, I strongly nominate CEBU/Cebuanos for MOTM!" He liked the strong appreciation and support of Cebuanos for Azkals and PH football Looks like Cebu could host another Azkal game soon Better than Manila in spectators watched Well Manila could have a sold out game also in AFF SC SF if we pass the group stage. My probablility for that is high

i also observed that the man marking of the Singaporean players were excellent especially during the first half. there were instances when Reichelt or Omphroy could have easily made a through pass to Wolf. but the SG defenders had easily stop our passes a numerous times.
did Juani played well to shut Duric off or it was Duric having an off-night? he is clearly nonexistent tonight except for his headers.

The game was superb! I have watched it on TV! and man, please! being disappointed doesn't make you a bandwaggoner from a fan. That is just the result of me being disappointed. There could be a lot of things that I can do from being disappointed, worst for sure. But that doesn't stop from me being a fan of the NT! so please cjeagle being disappointed is normal for football fans in any way, it doesn't make a lukewarm supporter of the NT and yeah, it's one of the biggest sporting history in this city and I have the opportunity to witness it live but chose not to. so where's the problem? it's me anyways. and for sure there will be another international football match that would take place here. I can simply watch that game and learn from my mistake and to be calm next time considering that this situation about the "untouchables" didn't only happened today as Ian Araneta will be resigning soon and I bet the other 2 will be doing so too. You guys don't need to pound on my head. I know what I'm saying. And I know what I', doing, after all I am only the one that missed the once in a lifetime opportunity. And for opn, nabaligya na nako ang ticket, sa TV rako ni tan-aw. ayg kabalaka, kung proud kas nahitabo, pareha rata! you don't need to worry of me being disappointed. and you can see why I am disappointed, those "untouchables" didn't came in as sub except for Ian Araneta, who came in in the 92nd minute and for sure these guys will be included in the AFF Suzuki Cup 22 man line-up. I won't stop ranting about these things for sure until the PFF would realize. And of criticizing Denis Wolf's ability to score against a tough opponent, you know why I do it. No doubt he's a playmaker and positions himself well but it's better to use him as a withdrawn striker. I'm not sure but I guess Coach W will still start Wolf over Phil in the AFF Suzuki Cup. With regards to the YH Bros, you can see how they changed the complexion of the game when they came in in the 2nd half and Phil even playing more as a winger. Ed Sacapano played like it was his last. Great saves! and it's true that Singapore is better than us in almost all aspects of the game. Free kicks, set pieces, passing and so on. Thanks for all your comments everyone. I'm sorry if my actions bugged you a lot but then again, it's just me and whatever may happen to the PFF and the PHL MNT, it doesn't stop me from being a fan. What I'm into is to how our team can win every game we can. At the end of the day, the prerogative will be on the Management and the PFF. What ever their decisions may be, all I can do is to support the Azkals still, all the way.
