CLEAR Dream Match to benefit flood victimsKarl Decena, InterAKTV · Thursday, August 22, 2013 · 3:02 pm After floods devastated the Philippines this past week, organizers of the CLEAR Dream Match featuring Philippine football stars Phil and James Younghusband have decided to donate part of the game’s proceeds to the victims of the disaster. “We decided to make it a non-profit match,” CLEAR brand manager Drew Copuyoc said, adding that 50 percent of the match’s sales will go to Filipinos who were affected by the calamity. Parts of Metro Manila and Luzon have been submerged since Sunday after typhoon “Maring” intensified monsoon rains to cause heavy flooding. Almost 1.3 million Filipinos have been affected by the disaster, which has brought P79.9 million in losses to the country’s infrastructure and agriculture. Copuyoc added that the other half of the match’s proceeds will still go to the Tuloy sa Don Bosco Foundation, the event’s original beneficiary. Phil and James will face off with their respective teams for the CLEAR Dream Match, which will also feature retired international football stars Fabio Cannavaro, a former World Cup champion, and Dennis Wise, a longtime captain of Chelsea FC and a member of the England national team. The CLEAR Dream Match is slated on Saturday night at the University of Makati football field. www.interaksyon.com/interaktv/clear-dream-match-to-benefit-flood-victims

FT: Team James 4-1 Team Phil
the U-Mak pitch is far better than the last time the UFL teams played there but the problem is the lack of proper drainage. when the rain starts pouring late in the first half the pitch turns into a mud and water starting to clog everywhere. i know players, especially Cannavaro and Wise are disappointed with the rain and the pitch condition

Clear keen to bring in strike star Ronaldo for next Dream MatchBy Karlo Sacamos August 25, 2013, 05:31 pm AFTER Fabio Cannavaro and Dennis Wise, global superstar Cristiano Ronaldo is being eyed to grace next year’s edition of Clear Dream Match. In a short chat with Spin.ph after the second staging of the event on Saturday night, Clear brand manager Drew Copuyoc expressed eagerness to bring over the Real Madrid striker regarded as one of the best footballers in the world today. The Portuguese striker happens to be the global endorser of Clear. “We’re very open about it. We’ll ask the fans what they want. And let’s see who Clear Dream Match will bring next year, but it’s not yet sure,” said Copuyoc. This year, local endorsers James and Phil Younghusband were given the chance to pick the international football stars to take part in the event. Aside from Ronaldo, Formula One driver Kimi Raikkonen is the other international athlete who endorses Clear, according to Copuyoc. Copuyoc said holding a third edition of the charity all-star game depends on the success of Saturday’s event. All signs, though, are encouraging as Cannavaro and Wise were warmly welcomed by football fans in the match that was well-attended despite the heavy rains on match day. “We’re very happy with the reception despite the bad weather,” the 24-year-old Copuyoc said. Cannavaro, the former Fifa World Player of the Year who skippered Italy to the 2006 World Cup title, helped James Younghusband and his team get even with Phil Younghusband’s team featuring Wise, the Chelsea icon, by way of a 4-1 victory.
