Who will be available for this friendly ? Not a FIFA friendly match day, so probably locally based players , plus some European based players like Gier and Juani Guirado. Maybe Neil Etheridge ?

That will depend on the new manager. . . Will he conduct an open try-out which he will assess current NT members and new prospects? Is he going to utilize some of those foreign-based players or prefer an all-local team? . . . these will be some of the questions that will be answered before the Philippines-Malaysia match. . .

I would like to correct the news bulletin I had read in couple of Philippines News blog when it states the Philippines will have a friendly match against Malaysia one of the football POWERHOUSE in its region, The correct word should be Malaysia ONCE A POWERHOUSE in football. No longer anymore,
I am a Malaysian and I honestly said our present football is going nowhere, Malaysia sports is still very much besieged with Politics, and It is killing sports in the country, Ever since football turned professional it is downhill all the way and only managed to make a little progress few years back when Malaysia U-23 won the Sea Games Gold medals twice in a row but other than that they has nothing else to show when it comes to next higher level, Compare to the Philippines, they really put serious work into grass root development unlike in Malaysia where life is too good and easy and things are taking for granted.
If any of you here were to disagree with me on the present Malaysia football development then I politely bring you down to the good old days when football in Malaysia was still amateur, back in the 60s 70s, to early 80s, between these decades Malaysia won football bronze medals twice In Asian Games. Perhaps to date the only country from its region that qualified for Olympics football twice in 1972 ans 1980. Beaten English professional club giant Arsenal 2-0 in Friendly played in Malaysia, Drew 1-1 with England National B team and t we were still amateur ranked. We did not turned our domestic league into professional not until the mid 80s, and that was when football went nose down and the Reason? till to date politics still has a hand in sports which should never be in the first place.
And for Usapang members info here, Mr Rajagopal who was the head coach for the Malaysia national team is no longer with the national team and to date like the Philippines national team we are still without a head coach to lead the national team, At this point of time Mr Ong Kim Swee the head coach of Malaysia U-23 is acting as Interim Head coach for the national team until a decision is finally made as to who will head the National team as head coach, Players like Safee no longer guaranteed a first team player, There are movements of players into the national team with new faces from the Malaysia Super league clubs sides and those from the national junior ranks as well.
Having said all that, the Azkals is no longer a weak team even with the absence its Europe based players. With all the uncertain in Malaysia camp the Malaysia national team is not without its own problem that need to be seriously address as well . It will really surprise me if the Malaysia national team beat your Azkals, Honestly players to players, team vs team, skill vs skill, the Azkals is ahead and the only advantage for Malaysia side is that the friendly match is played on our home ground. I think it will be a good exposure for our juniors if they were to be roped in this friendly match and I hope it will give our sports officials a rude awakening should this friendly match ends in defeat for Malaysia team.
Thank you

If only Malaysian tycoons like Tony Fernandes and Vincent Tan invest some of their financial resources to your national side, it could different, a game changer. . .but by the look of it Vincent Tan is at the moment focusing with Cardiff Bluebirds, my home team . . . Though Mr. Tan is not so popular here in Cardiff due of his influence in the sacking of manager Malky Mackay. . .

Looks like Paul Mulders might be a no-show as well in this March friendly. He was recently signed by SC Cambuur. . .

Compare to the Philippines, they really put serious work into grass root development unlike in Malaysia where life is too good and easy and things are taking for granted. I am Indonesian, but this statement is not really true or you are not Malaysian at all. First of all, Malaysia grassroot development is one of the best in South East Asia, Have you heard about Harimau muda A B and even C ? did you know in your country now, every clubs are scouting young player as young as 9 years old so they can be developed? they even involved good money? Comparing the youth development of Malaysia and Philippines and saying that Malaysian is way behind Philippines is laughable ( no offense to Filipino here) up until today, I havent see any proper grass root development in the Philippines, yes the Philippines did sent the u17 and u19 to Asian cup qualification, but thats about it. In Malaysia, you guys have tournament for players as young as u12, you have Frenz United, you have football school all over Malaysia. so my advice to you is, follow more local football in your country, it seems like you outdated. Cheers

To our SE Asian friends. Despite the political troubles that your federations find yourselves in occasionally, you are still far ahead of the Philippines in terms of football grassroots development, infrastructure and tradition. This is most visible at the age group level tournaments where your countries excel. We still have a lot of catching up to do in terms of football tradition and culture, so your teams should always consider themselves the favorites even in friendlies between us, just like we would be in basketball.
Malaysia especially has an outstanding mature grassroots development program as david mentioned while we have just began growing ours.

I don't care losing. The only thing i scare of, is there are no differences in our play. I wanna see at least a slight improvement, effective and promising.

Don't be surprised that the new manager will drop James Younghusband. I believe his fitness iin international football is queestionable. He is not even used regularly by his UFL club. . .

Isn't it he scored both on headers in recent int'l friendlies against Hongkong where the Azkals won and in a losing effort against Chinese Taipei during Peace Cup? He was even prefererred over natural RBs Ray Jonsson & Jerry Barbaso in their final game in that tournament against Pakistan.

Blind or high?? Both?? JYH is Loyola's captain and is a first choice player! In the last week or so he's been injured (ankle) so hasn't played. So I don't know where you get this notion that he isn't used regularly. As for his supposed lack of fitness, that's just your [wrong] perception.
