based on what i have read in the other forum,, the FIFA/AFC (not so sure) requires that the stadium should occupy at least 30,000 people..the proposed stadium by the Philippine official was the panaad stadium but it can only occupy a maximum of 20,000..I hope it helps..

I think Malaysia is not suitable since the rule states that we can choose any country that are not involved in the semis. The AFF has decided to give the Philippine team two options: play the “home” game in an AFF member-country that is not part of the semis or play both matches in Indonesia. www.abs-cbnnews.com/sports/12/09/10/rp-wants-1-aff-game-azkals-bacolod

I thought FIFA is for the spread of the beautiful game to the grassroots/ non- traditional footballing nations hence they gave Russia and Qatar opportunities to host the world cups. Similarly, I'm not sure what other specifications they need but surely they should give us the chance to host this home game in Panaad Stadium. They should even be helping us. It's a perfect chance to kickstart football renaissance in this part of ASEAN.

from bleachers brew: After the match, the team management learned that the Asian Football Federation issued a memorandum stating the semifinals home match of the Philippines (in a home and away series with Indonesia) will be played at the Gelora Karno Stadium in Jakarta. The memorandum stated: “The Philippines will not be able to play a leg of their semi-final or subsequent final at a home venue due to no available stadia in the country meeting the requirements for the AFF Suzuki Cup. The Asean Football Federation took the decision after careful consideration and talks with the relevant parties. A set of guidelines has to be met before a stadium can stage an AFF Suzuki Cup match and none of the proposed venues in the Philippines reached the required standard stipulated in the Hosting Obligations for the tournament.”...............................................we received word that the Asean Football Federation has deemed that our homefield of Panaad, Bacolod to not be up to the requirements of the AFF Suzuki Cup after consultations with PFF President Jose Mari Martinez and therefore our hard-fought “home game” will be played either in a neutral venue or at the homefield of the other semis winner.............................................................................................Martinez, who is fighting to be reinstated as Philippine Football Federation president after his ouster last November 27, 2010 in the year-end congress held at the Philippine Sports Commission, informed the AFF through an email letter that “The Philippine Football Federation (PFF) has no objections to the Away-and-Away games for the Philippine National Football Team any time they qualify for the Semi-finals of the AFF Suzuki Cup 2010.”

One report say that Martinez nixed the idea to play our home game on a neutral ground like Vietnam coz he doubts Vietnam can fill-up a stadium while watching Indonesia vs Azkals game. He went for both games to be played in Jakarta coz for sure the 80K capacity stadium will be full on both games, he will fly to Jakarta on monday to discuss/negotiate how to devide get reciept revenue with the Indonesians.
Is this guy classic or what? I hope he will have an uncomfortable life after this.

My son is a footballer, and we have followed the news and events of the azkals. We are proud that we are finally making a splash in the scene. It would even be greater if we can be allowed to support our own team in our own turf. Home court advantage is a big morale booster. I hope the officers of the PFF, will open their eyes and see the flight of the sports in our country and make a real effort to support our team and make them standout, we have great talents out here, it will be such a waste, if great footballers like the sons of the filipinas abroad will decide that their effort will be a waste of their time here.

I'm sorry, but Martinez is an idiot. He's not even trying to hide how hungry he is for the money. He's talking about gate receipts and Indonesia's 80,000-capacity, $5/ticket earnings, and already calculating how much the PFF is going to earn from all of it.
He also says he's done "something right" and takes credit for the success of the Azkals in this tournament. Maybe we'd have better facilities if they were actually spent towards the development of the stadium and to promote football in the country. But nope, it's in his pocket. Idiot.
The spirit of the game also lies with the supporters. Where's the spirit in having an away-away game? It doesn't even matter if the stadium is up for capacity or not. For as long as there's a pitch for the game to be played, it should be more than enough. Absolute bollocks.

Mr. Martinez, just GTFO already.
Huh? Rather than him doing something good, I would believe it was a mere coincidence he was the one sitting at that chair when this happened. F-ing trolls should GTFO.
