“Our players are very short and I am worried as the Turkmenistan players are very tall. Every team has a chance to qualify for the semi-finals and I hope we get a chance to do our best,” said Japanese coach Norio Tsukitate, who has been in charge of the team for three months. “This is the first international tournament for Laos. We have a lot of young players with not a lot of experience. They don’t understand what is an international game, but maybe they know now. “They are scared of anything and they only look to the future. I hope our young team can do well in this competition.” www.the-afc.com/en/afc-challenge-2014-cup-all-news/28603-afc-challenge-cup-group-b-preview.html

Philippine record against Laos : no win, 2 draws and 7 losses in 9 matches since 1995. . . Our last meeting was On Sept 2012 which Azkals featured Schrocky, Etheridge, Mulders, Wolf, etc. succumbed defeat to Laos . . .

For me, we should not take the Laotians for granted. They owned us for quite a long time, in this match we must be focus and determined.

Laos is in a must win situation, maybe they will play an all out attack, hopefully we can capitalize on that.

I am not sure how healthy Cagara is, but if he is I would consider him at left back and Sato at the left mid position or vice versa. I think both of those are both solid defensively as well as being dangerous on the attack and can interchange and overlap each other. Having them on the left flank and the Schrock-Rota combination on the right will cause all kinds of havoc from wing attacks. Assuming Cagara is 100%, I therefore would try this formation: If Cagara is not 100%, then move Sato back to left back, and replace one of the wing midfielders with either James Younghusband(whose chemistry with his brother is hard to replicate) or Patrick Reichelt. Sato surprised me with his accurate shots on goal which were right on target heading for the left corner of the goal if it were not the excellent save made by the Afghan goaltender. It is a nice weapon to have coming from the left back position.

i can see Sato as our filipino version of David Alaba or Jordi Alba, can play LB or LW and has a good football IQ. lots of time for him to improve and be our key player PYH, will score a hatrick tomorrow . yeah, you heard it right! we will demolish this Lao team

Laos has known to be a good attacking team but a very bad team on defensive side... I think azkals will score some goals tomorrow the question is can we also stop the Laotians from scoring.. there players are much faster than the afghans I think... they are short but fast(a lot like Doctora) our CB's will have some trouble when this laotians counter... Gier and Juani are not that fast anymore..
a win and a draw vs. Turkmenistan would be a great result in the last two matches

The Azkals need to counter, counter, and furthermore counter. If Laos' Army defended like their Football team, a troop of Girl Scout Daisies would overrun Vientiane in an hour. They were horrific against the Turkmen, and they were beyond exhausted by the end of the match. If the Azkals do not let up, and constantly pound them, we should be up in goal difference in no time.

I noticed during the Turkmenistan v. Laos game, after scoring that opening goal in the game, the Laotians seems to the willingness to further push the lead. The simply reverted to kick the ball back to other side of the pitch and run back to defense.
