Guys im ok with the result but one thing in my mind is that why they didnt contested the location of the free kick??? while tackle was more located in the right corner of the box. but what happen is they allowed the free kick more on the left side of the box where the taker has a good angle. positioning of free kicks is crucial. I Hope nextime they will take note on this.

I really didn't expect to lose against Palestine but there's just too many positives that came out of this game to consider it a big loss.
-Young and new players were suited up and showed us that the NT is deeper than we thought. -Returning players aren't washed up yet. -It's nice to know the players actually enjoy playing for this coach and his style of play is accepted, disseminated, learned and used by all. -Our passing has never been as good as it is now. -After all this, our overall defense is still what we rely on the most. -In 5 highly contested matches we only allowed 3 goals(and one was on a set play). -What is it about Pinoy goal keepers?! Two consecutive games, two consecutive penalty kick blocks! -Having more than 5 defenders for a tournament is the right thing to do(in comparison to the 2012 tourney). -Sure we lost but we gained one position higher than what we got in 2012, we can't win it all but we are climbing, winning and learning still. -Simone Rota!!

No more Guam, no more Taiwan. It is time for the Philippines to start playing tougher competitions. Taiwan recently beat us in the last PFPC. While it's great to say lets "march" onwards lets not forget that other teams are also "marching" along and sports will throw curves we can't really forsee. The "history" you so easily disregard is just that, "history" for we've beaten teams we've never in our history and those are moments most of us would like to cherish, celebrate and remember if only for a while. Personally I think as we make ourselves relevant in the soccer world things/improvements will get slower and slower so if you want a quick rise prepare for some disappointments. I do agree on the tougher competition though. Ones that are close to us. Malaysia, Indonesia and Thailand to name a few. They'd be "historic" wins

What is even more painful with this Palestine win is that they would get to keep the Challenge Cup trophy FOREVER since this is the last time this event would be held. Those 8 extra slots for the 2019 Asian Cup final tournament would be even more difficult to get since everyone from Middle Eastern teams, to former Soviet republics and stronger SEA teams would be vying for it.
Kainis talaga, bakit kasi hindi sinama si Boy Dapa??? ;P

BTW, why did Dennis Cagara abruptly leave after the 1st game? We could have used him as a wingback and let one of the other kids replace Awani, este, Amani as CB partner for Gier.

www.the-afc.com/en/afc-challenge-2014-cup-all-news/28717-party-time-in-palestine.htmlJust read on how everone is supporting the Palestinia Team. Big screen Projectors around their country. Every single palestinian citizen watching every single game. Even if they are still in a war. Their support for their national Team is miles from ours. I am not putting down anyone but. If our Azkals knew that almost every single filipino was watching their games. That would have been a boost for the team. My other point is. What if we had WON. would the whole Philippines go crazy? the answer would be not really..sure there would be some tv coverage.but after a fews weeks the casual fan would eventually forget.. because as a footballing nation. we still have a long long way to go for the philippines to really LOVE football..So the PFF seriously has to do everything to win The SuzukiCup..not the semis. not third place. But all out WIN the Suzuki Cup..

I think his Club only agreed to release him for the Group stages. cause the club is pushing for promotion to their first division..its still on going i guess..

Thread is quite long havent made a thorough back read. What do you think guys of de Jong's performance. Is he playing exceptionally well and got the nod of coach Dooley as a regular starter? While James and OJ is spending time at the bench? Not pointing him out but I noticed that de Dong had been commiting mistakes like so many interceptions by the opponent either he is the passer or receiver.

as much as i wanted our team to win, finishing first runner-up for me is acceptable to the fact that we were outclassed by our opponent. had we dominate the game and controlled the possession, that's the time i can't accept defeat. but with how the Palestine play their game, they deserved much credit. we were almost there of catching our dreams but it turns out a nightmare. that's the way it is.

Missed watching the match yesterday as I was grounded by my Mrs. . We went out of town to camping. A place with no internet. Having watched the first 4 games I thought Azkals would be lucky without me watching them in Finals.

My greatest concern of this setback is how Mr. Dan Palami will respond to it. He had said before that he is contemplating in putting his efforts to his company which he set aside in favor of Azkals. There is likelihood that he will walk away.

There is likelihood that he will walk away. With so many articles going around the net i can't recall from which one it came out with an interview of dan palami stating about continued scouting around the globe for players and even those who are already in the pipeline thats interested to play for the azkals at the recent challenge cup but cant make it on time. He then mentioned about planning another training camp abroad for the purpose of making the team jell with respect to Dooley's new system WHATEVER the outcome of the campaign is. Interview was conducted after winning against Maldives.

He didn't catch my eye as particularly good or bad, so perhaps in some sense that's not too bad. I'll have to watch the game again. Who I'm a little disappointed about is Mulders in that he didn't do particularly good or bad either. I was hoping this tournament would be the one that showcased how good this Eredivisie player is as a holding or attacking midfielder. I still think we haven't seen the best of Mulders yet, that there's more to come. I'm not sure if I can say the same about de Jong. He may be solid, but the idea is improvement for the team, not stagnation. de Jong, Anton, even Mulders need to step up their game if this team is to make it to the next level. Sato and Aguinaldo are the future, young ones who will progress to greater heights.

Sato and Aguinaldo are the future, young ones who will progress to greater heights. Exactly my point. While at the wings it is no brainer why workhorses Steuble and Reichelt are regulars in that position with their pacing they are constant threat to the opponents. Lucena as calming presence in DM. Mulders has passed his peaked but still has that Eredivise quality that most of our midfielders doesnt have. Had a copy of the match vs the highest ranked team we ever played against in recent times in UAE. OJ's performance imho is above his teamates as he seemed not intimidated by the superiority of UAE. Also maybe Dooley isnt sold with the Phil-James teamwork? While he always came up with surprise starters seems like it didnt crossed his mind to try that tandem might work on crucial matches? Just sharing my thoughts.
