Tsk3x... another empty rizal... ug sa cebu pa ni, puno na pud unta ang abellana... I think it's safe to say that the venues anywhere in the Visayas would be filled should the Azkals play there. The hotbed of Philippine football is in these islands, afterall. Nevertheless, I'm just glad to see that there's considerable support (and growing at that) for the Azkals in Manila despite the preference of many locals for basketball. Anyway, tonight's game was great. Second half was a bit lackluster compared to the first but the latter part really made up for it with successive goal attempts with Phil delivering the third score. The Cambodian team improved a lot since their 8-0 loss last year. I'm actually glad the opponent gave the Azkals a good fight, lest we could've seen a repeat of last year's steamrolling (which would've been boring to watch the second time, personally). So, when are they going to bring back the Star Spangled Banner at sporting events in Manila? J/K

One sad note on the game is the absence of Alvaro Silva. Perhaps his passport is not yet ready. As for the goalkeepers: "It’s another solid outing for Patrick Deyto, who has cemented his spot as our undisputed number one for the group stage. Beyond that, there are issues. Tommy Trigo is the only other keeper Thomas Dooley will bring to Hanoi for the three group matches. He told me so after the game. Ideally you want to bring three goalies, in the event of injury or suspension. Neil Etheridge has been ruled out and Roland Müller will only be available after the group games." ph.sports.yahoo.com/blogs/thepassionatefan/azkals-3-cambodia-0-postgame-more-than-just-the-score-181902976.html#more-idOne thing I don't understand is why the Ultras were told to keep quiet. The fans were already told to not bring their giant flag during the last game. The PFF doesn't seem to know how to handle die hard fans. Otherwise not only are the fans not coming. They won't even make any noise to support the team. The PFF still need to learn a thing or two about football. All they need to do so is watch how games are played abroad. These guys have never been violent unlike Ultras abroad, but they are being treated as if they were. Telling a fan support group to be quiet? What is the PFF smoking? (pass it around, will ya...) If anything, the should be encouraged to grow in numbers, make noise, and tell other fans. They are the biggest grassroots promoter of the team, they are the ones who tell their friends, relatives, and co-workers to go to the game. They bring others to the game.
Doesn't make any sense.

If the PFF wants the fans to return, they shouldn't antagonize them by muzzling their support groups. All they need to do is watch how other countries, build their fan support groups, which gives the stadium the atmosphere that will attract more fans and energize their teams. Football culture is what makes the sport one of the most popular entertainment extravaganza on earth and as long as this fan's groups don't turn violent which Filipino fans have never shown an inclination for, they should be given free rein to express their support for the team.

The football federation of the country telling supporters to not make noise at a football match? Philippine football running on a treadmill ... Moving but somehow not going anywhere. Unbelievable.

Not only that, they banned that giant Philippine flag that the Ultra fans unfurled in the past. This is par for the sport, yet they ban it back home. I have seen better support and atmosphere abroad during the Challenge Cup and where the PFF cannot dictate what fans can do than there is back home right now.

I watched the game yesterday, well yeah... we won the game. But I feel there still too much lacking for us to be called as contenders. Don't get me wrong, I'm still positive that we can make it happen and make it to the Semis or even the Finals.., but the team should fix the remaining blunders that we have, our backline? buildups? confidence? fire? passion? heart? nationalism? chemistry? etc... because to be named as champions, you have to give your 110%.
In last year's match against Cambodia, 8-nil, against the young Cambodian team, but we should remember as well that we have almost a full team back then, led by Schrock, Patiño, Phil, Cagara played as well, and etc. although credits to our victory yesterday, ang bottomline lang ng lahat ng sinasabi ko, I want a more inspired effort by the Azkals comes the AFF Suzuki Cup, well I don't know, siguro dahil sa broadcast at medyo lousy yung atmosphere kahapon... but still, Football is a more beautiful game when played with that fire... Kaya naman eh! Gilas lang... Can't wait for next week!

does anyone here have a copy of the Azkals vs. Cambodia game before the miracle in Hanoi? Appreciate the improvement of our National Team in Football.. 3 - 0 against a full squad of Cambodia is not easy...
Pa hingi ng Copy Last time I saw a Full match vs. Cambodia was in 2002 Tiger Cup.. Azkals park the bus and conceded a late goal from a GK error...

"The Kingdom came a cropper in the qualifiers for this ASEAN showpiece last month in Laos, but the two warm-up games arranged at the behest of both the Philippines and Singapore federations will serve the squad’s own interest as the first phase of its workouts for the ensuing SEA Games, which the city-state will host in June of next year." www.phnompenhpost.com/sport/cambodia-jet-philippines-singapore-friendliesCambodia fielded mostly players under 23 years old, and is preparing for SEA Games.

Actually acc. to Andy Brouwer, the Cambodian coach decided to bring his senior team on this road trip, because he probably did not want a repeat of the 8-0 drubbing the last time they played. Also, in the article you quoted it says the Korean coach is under a lot of pressure to produce results, so he had to bring a competitive team. He probably brought his best players along with some promising young players. cambodiafootball.blogspot.com/2014/11/on-road-again.html"For Cambodia, their failure to qualify for the cup's final stages has left them pretty much in limbo before the country's next serious competition, the SEA Games in June 2015. That's an U-23 tournament but coach Lee Tae-Hoon decided to take his full senior team on this jaunt, hoping no doubt to improve the FIFA world ranking positioning, which in August was at an all-time low of 201."
